before i get floods of hateful messages and replys, RICK ALLEN = GREAT DRUMMER

ok lets get that straight, now lets talk about what hes actually doing here, the quality is shit so you cant really tell, but rick is playing on a half real/ half electric set. this means he can play snares, rides, hi hats, etc, with his feet. a great method for a one armed drummer to do i guess, but this elctric kit also alows him to play "loops" on any piece of his set, thats just plain cheap.

These loops alow Rick to play multiple beats with one stroke. this means that he can play a roll of sixteen notes, with one tap of his foot. In my opinion this is sort of "cheap" i guess you could say. I have always been agaisnt electric drums for various reasons, but i feel that what you hit with your sticks should be what you play. if you are creating music that you arent even physically doing. wouldnt you call that cheating? IDC if he was 1 arm, it shouldnt change the aspects of drumming

@fatwreckdsucks That would probably add complexity in other areas, like how would he tell it during a live performance he wanted to change from that roll of 16 notes to one shots? Besides plenty of drummers use 'double' pedals to double up their kick, but that's considered a normal piece of kit. In most cases of music anyway, the end justifies the means. It's like saying keyboardists who use arpeggiators are 'cheap'. It's just a feature of the instrument. His kit is innovative. That's good.
