NJ Club/House Music all night long! Who was down with the Zanzibar and T.Humphries and Club 88 college night on Thursdays during the summers with DJ Burt?!!
I was born in Newark in '78. Unfortunately, I was too young to go to any of those places, it seemed like you didn't have to go to New York to party at all back in the day!!!!!
Newark,New Jersey all day long....and even before this music came on the scene we were the basement party capital of the world. Remember the stroll lights....zodiac posters....lol. Those were the days and nothing out today can compare to them.
Grand Master flash used to play this during the 5 o"clock traffic jam on WBL kicking "S" in the space!!!! Crown Heights, Brooklyn in cyborspace!!! Can y'all get to that???
this shit still bangs! just like when my underage ass used to sneak in the clubs in da 80's......forever classic! i feel sorry for anybody that doesn't love this track....you're fucking tone deaf!
totally love Disco, if I could go back in time with my house music love lol, i'd totally introduce them to it !!! we need some hot house music mixes to this track for sureeeeeeee,, come out DJ's pleaseee on this one!
Union City, NJ, girl here....this takes me back to those fun and care-free disco days in 1980 when I was just 21, and the only radio stations I listened to were WKTU and WBLS in NYC. Such special memories!!! GOD, I miss those days! :-(
@smith1landy Are you from Connecticut? I lived there until 14 years ago. Back in the day it was "YBC'. Then overnight "RTC" from Trinity College in Hartford would continue playing the good stuff. I can't forget that Wesleyan U. had good DJ's, too. And when the radio waves were strong I'd listen to 98.7 Kiss FM from NYC. Sometimes "BLS", too.
@userneedsname Yes, New Haven, Wow I forgot about "RTC," Latenight, and Wesleyan, I was fortunite to be able to get those stations, as well as all the New York Stations, That is the beauty of YOUTUBE, being able to listen to "The Blast, from the Past," at your convenience.
Dont know if you got an answer but "Alguien sabe como se llama la "version HouseMusic???" - I think you just might mean Armand Van Heldens tune "Full moon"
Awesome song, more of my sister's and brother's era but still brings me back remembering this played on BLS when I was a kid. Anybody know where I can download this?
@port2344chester U ain't lying! I can still see Papi with the Huge Block of Ice with the scraper with the 4 flavors getting his hustle on, while my bro plays skelly on the side walk, me playing freeze tag with my other friends, my other boys playing stoop ball, while the girls on the block were double dutching! Oh yeah I used to rock Pro Keds with tube socks with a Kangol hat. Beautiful times.
@BreuckelensFinest WHAT...cant forget the open firehydrants... ahh the smell of a grill no matter where im @ once i smell grilled food.. im back on the block also...haha i had my pro keds also..playing stickball.. recall swedish knits...british walkers going to Alexanders & Korvettes to get clothes off the table with the plastic string...WAIT I THINK I SEE THE GOOD HUMOR TRUCK & ITS TRANSITIONED INTO A DISCO TIME MACHINE MOBILE..ALL ABOARD..Yes you are so right the BEST OF TIMES!
@port2344chester Oh man, if u didn't mention this I would have forgotten all about Britishwalkers LOL. Don't forget the Plastic Jelly's the girls used to wear on their feet even though they would get blisters! LMAO
I pulled a double shift at work last friday,98 kiss FM was playing there Friday nite mix,..around 2:00 Am they played this jam...I was dead tired,This came on <NOT ONLY DID I WAKE UP .....I STARTED DANCING...MY co-workers were like {what the fuck is wrong with you?} I said YO THIS THE SHIT.......bet it could still rock a club now! LONG LIVE BROOKLYN NY...........
@port2344chester YES PORT I REMEMBER ROLLERSKATING TO THIS JOINT AT JEROME SKATING RING IN THE BOOGIE DOWN BX FLYING ON THEM ROLLER SKATES AND PEOPLE GETTING OUT THE WAY......GREAT MEMORIES EARLY 80S....AND YES AHH THE STARDUST BALLROOM ON BOSTON ROAD!! TOO MANY MEMORIES....
@HIGHPOSTERtown - Haha...I'm a 60's baby, born & raised in Edenwald! The Stardust was the neighborhood place to be back in the 70s-80s when we didn't want to travel downtown to a Manhattan club.
God, they used to work this record back in the day. Philly and New York, 1980. I wanna thank you, heavenly father, for shining your light on me, and allowing me to have been such a part of the Greatest Club Scene Ever...
Yeah, luv it!....Back when musical geniuses could actually "write" music instead of tap it out on a drum machine. (Nothing against drum machines, though :P )
@gamagan1- So I take it your familiar w/ The Colonade Towers Apts...(back in my college days) and I will always remember "SRO" Standing Room Only/ a place I could go to have a few beers and dance my ass off if I chose... Nice neighborhood joint!!... Kool, Kalm, & Kollected crowd as well...THE GOOD OLE DAYS GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN!!! Holla...
I can't believe a dub version or even instrumental version (but with the background singer's vocals) of this was never put on the 12" release, it would've been the nuts! Sylvia's voice sounds like a little annoying girl singing. Shame, as I do like the song.
@gamagan1 -You are absolute right-larry worked this record-Come to the party in April celebrating Paradise Garage memories, and you will relive that moment. Dave Depino played at Santos Party House this past January in NYC-Repeat in April at club on Bleeket St.-The old Village Gate
