I don't think of Christmas as a day to celebrate the birth of Christ, I look at the holiday as a time to have some family fun. Considering that Christmas has pagan roots, christians have no right to exclude athiests and agnostics from celebrating the secular side of Christmas. Therefore, if students are singing Jingle Bells instead of Silent Night at their school Christmas party, that should be okay.

The evidence you've got here is more than there is for most ancient figures...

Is it true that N.C. state Constitution disallows atheists? I don't see how that has never been challenged in state supreme court. @ComAntNeLib There are quite a few documents he's mentioned in (Tacitus, the Epistles of St Paul written only 60 years after Jesus's alleged death, Josephus, Lucian of Samosta etc.). That's a LOT considering these were ancient times and Jesus was relatively insignificant. Also, large regions of Jeruseleum/Israel were deflagrated by Romans in the 1st century, a "lack of evidence" should be expected. The evidence you've got here is more than there is for most ancient figures...

Here's a little interesting fact about christmas, it was around BEFORE the idea of jesus, it was originally a pagan thing (like TJ said) to celebrate a god of harvest (or something) by sacrificing someone who would mark their house with a holly wreath. And good old saint nick was infact the god, he looked more intimidating then he does now, but he was still meant to be the image of the god. If they appeased the god then they got snow and good harvest. So yeah.........it's not jesus' birthday
