football is where the money is at. the sec has for the recent years since they signed with espn, their football budget has grown past every other conference substantially. with that extra surplus, they can invest in other sports and u could see the sec are starting to be competitive in other sports areas too outside of just football. this was actually more of a pac ten thing to be competitive in most collegiate sports which is why the pac 12 is now getting a tv deal like the sec.

USC like Florida, Bama, LSU, and Auburn is just a big name school with a huge athletic budget and a giant state to recruit from. Iowa has to take what they can get, they don't get a bunch of 4 and 5 start recruits. They get 2 and 3 star recruits who work hard. But it was nice to see Iowa go to a bowl of that caliber, and it appears that this season could be another good one, hopefully with a better ending than the 2002-2003 season.

That game was predictible Iowa had the worst pass defense in the big ten. It was so bad they only used 3 DL. Any coach with intellegence could have picked apar that iowa defense. As far as offense that was the first time they played a defense as fast as their offense so they needed good timing and they obviously did not have it. USC was the better in the match up.

They prepared better than this team from the small ten (which really is 11 teams) and at the end the white, black, and yellow got DOMINATED! Ok I will end this argument once and for all. What is the definition of cheating?? If going by the NCAA book that Reggie Bush was ineligible then yes he was to the standards they set. In addition to the stupidity of USC, their coaching and players...they tried to go for it at midfield on 4th down and gave Vince Fucking Young the ball at midfield rather than coffin corner the kick which was the obvious play.
And team is only as good as they are smart and USC was a stupid team with an IQ of a bullet to the brain.

And after Matt Leinart left Pete Carroll was loyal to John David Booty because he stuck it out his whole career at USC waiting for his chance. Not putting Booty down, but his first year when he took over he almost took USC to the national title game. The following year I beleive Sanchez should have taken over especially when Booty broke his finger against Stanford in that lost.

Every school has their one down year. If you think USC is going to stay down you are very wrong about that my haterz. I still dont get how Pete Carroll decided to go with the true freshman Matt Barkely and he had 2 other guys that were much more experienced. The defense lost their whole front 7 and youre seeing on Sundays the great lb corp performing very well. USC will be back next year. All of their tough games are at home next year.

That's not a sign of a consistently good coach. That's a sign of a coach that's only as good as his recruits. Iowa fans think he's the greatest. He'll win a bunch of games this season but after that the talent pool runs dry.

The rebuilding is still underway and there will be waves of success in a building program up. the fact that ferentz had one recruiting class in the top 25 out of 11 seasons and has finished in the top 10 4 of those seasons speaks volumes of his coaching. Alas, I can remember watching this game with my parents (one of the earliest football games I remember the details of). Iowa had a pretty good first half. The second half, however, wasn't so great. But it was nice to see Iowa go to a bowl of that caliber, and it appears that this season could be another good one, hopefully with a better ending than the 2002-2003 season.

That game was predictible Iowa had the worst pass defense in the big ten. It was so bad they only used 3 DL. Any coach with intellegence could have picked apar that iowa defense. As far as offense that was the first time they played a defense as fast as their offense so they needed good timing and they obviously did not have it. USC was the better in the match up.

Iowa had a HECK of a team that year. I had a REALLY hard time deciding which team I thought would win that game ahead of time. I think I finally settled on Iowa before USC started winning bowl games every year under Pete Carroll. I think the Trojans have lost only one bowl game starting with Pete Carroll's second year with the school and it took an EXCEPTIONAL performance by Vince Young to beat them that time.

that was the hawks worst loss that year. Only finished with one other loss (7 point loss at michigan) and that's it. And beat the defending champion in the capital one bowl. That iowa team was better then asu at the end of the year, guarenteed.
As for pac 10 owning big 10 in general, that's true. I actually enjoy the buckeyes getting slaughtered all the time.

Iowa was "Co-Champs"? Just because they went unbeaten in conference, does not mean they shoulda been champs! OSU was clearly the better team that year.

Ok honestly, its a joke that notre dame is even ranked. AND usc barely beat them. Iowa completely dominated wisconsin in the second half and they beat them a lot worse than the score. Michigan wasn't low ranked and nor was wisconsin. They were both under 30 in the nation when we played them. Have fun losing to some team from the pac 10. which is pathetic. Iowa does more with less than any team in the nation. USC gets whoever they want and still lose to poor teams

What has Notre dame done that has impressed anyone? You have absolutely no idea what is going on. Wisconsin had double OSU offense in columbus. Im sure you have a lot of back up on all these hawkeye idiots you seem to know so much about. Because you haven't given me an educated response yet. And what? My high school? the only reason wisconsins offense double osu was for 1. they were on the field for like 44min and 2. the qb threw 2 interceptions for td's ....so i wouldnt use wisconsin as an exammple especially in the osu game
