Interestingly I don't think the guy has committed any crime by entering the house and passing out. Aggravated trespass requires intent to disrupt 'lawful activities', and while he WAS disruptive there is no reason here to think he intended to be. Burglary requires intent to either steal, commit criminal damage, commit GBH or rape. Clearly no such intent was present here. Maybe I've missed something but I think his entry and nap were non-criminal. :)
americans are such pussies. Just wake the fucker up and tell him to go home. The police must be really out of work to take that so well. Our officers here would get really pissed if I called then just because I was to afraid of a person so drunk he cannot find his own house and falls asleep in the floor.
@buzinaocara This happened in The UK, not in America. And what's 'pussy' about helping out a young man who was in clear need of being helped, rather than kick his ass for something he didn't even mean to do? Whether you believe it or not, police exist to do exactly this: help a citizen out when he is in trouble, i.e. when he finds an unknown man in his house, and has the courtesy not to do him harm. I show my respect to both the video poster and the North Yorkshire Police; they were both great.
@deejayvdv What did the police do that the owner of the house couldn't do himself? Did he really need to take the time of the fucking police because of a lame drunk ass?
an in all honesty..why arrest the guy an tie up thousands of dollars in prosecution charges? he was just drunk an needed a place to crash. props to the officers.
this story and this clip got featured on Belgian national tv... nice job man...
They also said the guy was American and probably would have been tasted by the police if it had happened in the US... thumbs up to the police who took care of this in a admirable fashion...
lmao, that's a winner right there. I love how the dog is like "strange, that wasn't here before" and the cat just deigns him unworthy and ignores him, typical cat behaviour. XD
er guys i dont robert wants his youtube video filled with harsh comments if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say it at all, robert mate you were brave to film this i would have done more than jump out of my skin....welcome to scarborough mate :D
Goddamn, never would've guessed there still are some considerate policemen/women, I hope he apologised big time cause you have to be the chillest dude to not press charges, really nice of you!
@rosztun Actually victims of crime don't 'press charges' in the UK. The decision on whether to prosecute is made (normally) by the Crown Prosecution Service, and while the victim's wishes, if known, may be a factor in their decision, victims don't take any direct part in the legal process pre-trial. The CPS can choose not to prosecute even when the victim wants a prosecution. (They can also prosecute with an unwilling victim, and even summons to court a victim who doesn't want to testify.)
In the US he'd probably be tased, cuffed and tased again (just for fun) only to be charged with public intoxication, trespassing, resisting arrest and do 4 years in prison as one of the 2,5-holy fuck- million inmates. He'd join a gang and be released as a real criminal. The system works!
@Harold1305 Amen to that... wait till we aren't allowed to sneeze in public anymore... They'll be ready with nauseating microwave beams and you will get sued for starting an "epidemic" (attempted mass murder)...

And if the officers didn't like him, they'd have the authority to cuff & manacle him to a restraint chair that looks like a nightmarish device from 19th cent. asylums.
This makes me proud to be British-how tolerant are we, man gets drunk (we all have), finds himself somewhere to lay his tired head (instinctively), homeowner tolerates it, calls for some help, help arrives and they do what they're supposed to do=help! Well done everyone.
Nice one - loving the blooping out. As far as I am concerned, as someone who works with the police at times, it was a perfect reason to call them and I wouldn't recommend dealing with an intruder alone, whether drunk, otherwise intoxicated or not. Glad there was no malice intended to you or your family.
I think this guy has done the right thing just to let the police deal with him what if he had not called the police and he had a knife gun or what ever that family would been 1 down if the dad had of tackled him and been in the morgue so really is it worth it!
sooo lucky it was just someone in the wrong house i left some stuff at a friends and his drunk frlatmate left the door open all got nicked! random as ought though!
i would never of called the police, this is probs why this shit dont happen to my familiy, if he came into my house i would take him in the atick tie him to a chair beat him sensless when he woke up tell him what he did beat him abit more make my dog shit on him then throw him out butt naked on a main road and lets see if he will even think about drinking that much and BREAKING into someones house. but fair play to this guy and the police for being so patiant.
@sorryunlucky your way tho your kids wake up to some next stranger in your garden and he will do it again to someone els , my way i doubt the guy will enter someones house again.
It's not like he was trying to nick stuff he just found the wrong house. I know someone who did the same thing as you but he broke into the house and tied the dude up and he did all his business in his pants and had no food for 3 days the person who did it went down for 5 years.
I accept that as the police say, there was no criminal intent, but why was he not arrested and charged with being drunk? It is absurd that we are expected to tolerate idiots like this interfering with the lives of responsible members of the public. This occurs only because the police are unwilling to do their jobs and enforce the law.
@peaksoft Getting drunk and doing stupid things is part of they culture. Every person I know has stories like this one except they didn't make it onto the internet.
So you call yourself a responsible member of the public,?
I hope a douche like you will never be my neighbor!
there is a reason why police officers are human beings, and not robots!
Good luck being frustrated, not living in the perfect society according to your perfect laws...
Hell, probably a lot of great people, scientist, inventors, writers and artists whose work you take for granted, ended up totally drunk in someones garden one day!
@peaksoft If someone bumps into you at a party a bit harder than expected... would you punch him back just because he interfered with what you were up to at that time? I don't think so. Why is this similar? Because it's a mistake. He didn't kill anyone, didn't break anything (certainly not if the door was unlocked, glad that isn't a "crime" yet ;) reminds me of the squatting law, lol) and was vast asleep. (might have been dreaming about his upcoming murderous headache).
@peaksoft Charged with being drunk ? US laws don't apply to the entire world, you know. In most European countries being drunk is no crime whatsoever. Luckily...
If Mr. Brewer was to press charges, the guy probably could get arrested for a number of things, but since there was no criminal intent, there's no need to send a guy to prison for a mistake like this.
Keep in mind that the vast majority of people don't intent to harm others!!
We are satisfied there was no criminal intention on the part of the man who had entered the property by accident. He was clearly suffering from the effects of alcohol and was subsequently returned safely to the hotel where he was staying.
It is pleasing to see our officers’ actions praised by members of the public. Our officers’ conduct shows both their caring and professional attitude when faced with just one of the many varied and unusual situations which we deal with on a daily basis.
@NorthYorkshirePolice You guys for doing such an amazing job. The Scarborough Police have changed my perception of the police from 'law enforcement' to 'public servants'.

You don't know. They are a family with small children. So, to be safe they called the police. Good call to the poster for being safe with his family!!!
Thanks for sharing & bleeping out the personal info. I have 2 children myself. I also have enjoyed a drink or two many once in a loong while. So, did you keep in touch with this guy and become best mates? I think I would have. You maybe would fell safer knowing you are friends with the guy?? All the best Cheers from Canada.
mmm, lots of people on youtube are mean, hes probably off-the-earth-drunk, as I like to call it, so drunk he don't remember shit in other words, I wouldn't even had call the cops if it were my house, just help him out, I mean sure, you could do all this armed for safety, (could be a crazy bastard) but at least be a nice person...
This is so funny. Kitty & Rufus are quite curious as to what the huge thing on the ground is. Imagine how embarassed Derpina will be when he gets over his hangover. xD
haha listen to all the americans astonished you didnt stab him 100 times and the cops didnt come in shooting up the place,, my god they tried to help the bloke instead of bash him then lock him up, thats why gun control is a good thing AMERICA.
Much respect to the home owner for not getting violent, a seemingly honest mistake stumbling into the wrong home that could have turned into bloodshed if it was another country, no doubt a scary situation though easy mistake as many UK homes look alike
@Toranacoupe Haha. So true. Glad the police treated him like a human being and not just an inconvenience and a chance to vent their anger, as they so often do.
This was brilliant, the cops were nice, and didn't shoot up your pets, they didn't hit the man and they were gentle. Also, i love the way you censored his name, really funny.
Man, this guy is such a loser!!! Teen's these day's think they're so hard done by. Wake up and smell the coffee Boy! I hope he got grounded for a month when he got home to Mommy & Daddy... If I found him in my house, with my wife & kids, I'd drive him 20km out of town and then tell him to walk it off back home...
how come the imac was on?.... do you reckon he might have been a drunk thief..... this is pretty scary as this is obviously a kids bedroom...... more details?
You know how easy this could happen to someone. Especially if they live in a housing complex where all the houses look exactly like each other and your drunk. The only thing to tell the difference is the address. The guy probably lives maybe a house or two next to them.
I suppose on the scale of things that could go wrong when you leave your door unlocked, this isnt too bad, It isnt great by any means but could have been worse.

mmm, lots of people on youtube are mean, hes probably off-the-earth-drunk, as I like to call it, so drunk he don't remember shit in other words, I wouldn't even had call the cops if it were my house, just help him out, I mean sure, you could do all this armed for safety, (could be a crazy bastard) but at least be a nice person...

he could have been trying to steal the apple comp in the background but tripped over the sausage dog and knocked himself out

This is so funny. Kitty & Rufus are quite curious as to what the huge thing on the ground is. Imagine how embarassed Derpina will be when he gets over his hangover. xD
Well handled by the resident family. :)

@ShatterState and people still try to rob you, and you try to shoot them for it. Because the TV is worth more than a human life.

haha listen to all the americans astonished you didnt stab him 100 times and the cops didnt come in shooting up the place,, my god they tried to help the bloke instead of bash him then lock him up, thats why gun control is a good thing AMERICA.
Much respect to the home owner for not getting violent, a seemingly honest mistake stumbling into the wrong home that could have turned into bloodshed if it was another country, no doubt a scary situation though easy mistake as many UK homes look alike
Toranacoupe 8 months ago

You know how easy this could happen to someone. Especially if they live in a housing complex where all the houses look exactly like each other and your drunk. The only thing to tell the difference is the address. The guy probably lives maybe a house or two next to them.
