B/C of the Dept. of Education (which Levin supported), companies like IBM, Intel, Pfizer, Boeing--pillars of American economic strength--have to reach out to the Chinese, the middle-east, the Europeans--to find skilled labor to fill their positions.

The Dept of Ed. needs serious changes (or elimination) if we, as a people, are going to produce enough skilled labor to keep the skilled labor force running and not suffer significant "brain drain" to our foreign competitors

This should give any Conservative pause since the Dept. of Education is one of the biggest culprits of ineffectual big govt. Because of the Dept of Education, we have generations of Americans who dont have the math and science literacy skills needed to replace outgoing retirees in technical jobs (engineering, finance, drug development) that our country will need for future economic growth.
