I know Jones' win against Trinidad didn't say much. Jones was naturally the bigger guy anyway, faster, all the physical attributes needed to be a guy like Trinidad. Roy explains well, how the judging works - it's dependant on what type of judges you get, often it's down to opinion, do they like power punches or pitter patter high number of shots. If the had judges who liked power punching in the De La Hoya vs PBF fight - Oscar would have won - that's why one of the judges gave it his way. IMO Calzaghe won the boxing match, Hopkins won the 'Fight'
oscar would have never won without bias judges as he didnt land clean shots during the whole fight and most judges would give this to calzaghe as round 4 round calzaghe was well ahead hopkins landed the cleanest shot but only two or three rounds the rest he was just getting caught and not throwing much back, roy cant really praise calzaghe too much as he has to fight him

Jones makes some good points, I had Calzaghe nicking it by one or two rounds. Jones beats Calzaghe in their respective primes, simple as that and I say that being a Calzaghe fan. You can't ignore Compubox, Joe landed 26 more punches on B-Hop than Roy did when Roy beat Bernard Hopkins - and that was a peak Roy Jones. Joe didn't look as strong as he does at Supermiddle but in the last few years Joe hasn't been known for his brutal strength in that division either. Joe stepped up to the mark in a different weight and he was the only one who wanted to fight in that ring and deserved the victory.

I know Jones' win against Trinidad didn't say much. Jones was naturally the bigger guy anyway, faster, all the physical attributes needed to be a guy like Trinidad. But it still showed that Jones has good speed, better than average reflexes, and still thinks on his feet and alters the gameplan when needed. He's probably still better today that Calzaghe ever dreamed of being. He may have slipped a tad, but I bet the farm he still beats Joe...

i tell you what if calzaghe wins i can assure its not gonna be by knock out. As he fought better opposition and stepped up in weight its clear he lost some power. You say Jones is finsihed but let the fight happened before you say anything. You watch all calzaghe's fights, the fighter stood infront at all times but jones is a crafty fighter who is actually good fighting backwards unlike most fighters. Calzaghe will stalk and try to get Jones on the rops because thats his only chance.

Calzaghe calls hopkins and roy out in 2001. None give him a shot. in 08 both call out calzaghe and he accepts immediately. That says alot. Jones is still dangerous and has a more procise straight right than hopkins but It will come down to how roy feals after the first few rounds. If roy feals like he can't be hurt by JC then he might go back to his original self. Fear of KO is the onlything that holds roy back from showing his full talent like he used to. This is gonna be great.

Roy explains well, how the judging works - it's dependant on what type of judges you get, often it's down to opinion, do they like power punches or pitter patter high number of shots. If the had judges who liked power punching in the De La Hoya vs PBF fight - Oscar would have won - that's why one of the judges gave it his way. IMO Calzaghe won the boxing match, Hopkins won the 'Fight'

oscar would have never won without bias judges as he didnt land clean shots during the whole fight and most judges would give this to calzaghe as round 4 round calzaghe was well ahead hopkins landed the cleanest shot but only two or three rounds the rest he was just getting caught and not throwing much back, roy cant really praise calzaghe too much as he has to fight him

Jones makes some good points, I had Calzaghe nicking it by one or two rounds. Jones beats Calzaghe in their respective primes, simple as that and I say that being a Calzaghe fan. Joe is not a Light heavy by any stretch of the imagination and is only having success at this weight because the past champs are fading. Joe should fight Pavlik at either SMW or a catchweight, that is the genuine career defining fight he craves, Hopkins @ 43 was not it.

Roys right, judging a fight is subjective and it all comes down to what each judge favors.....or who landed the hardest shots or who landed the most slaps. I personally favor the guy who lands the real punches and scores knock downs, thats why I can't believe Slappy Joe Calzagay got the decision. I hope Roy beats his ass.

Joe's output is crazy but Roy is a fighter he has never seen. Watching B-Hop knock him down makes me wonder if he will be able to handle Roy straight right. Why is it that Calzaghe always takes on the big boys when they are well past their prime, Eubank, Hopkins, Now Jones. Joe is clearly not his best at light heavy but in my opinion he did enough to win the fight. He just seemed to lack power. I think he will beat Jones but maybe not a few years ago, same with Hopkins and same with Eubank. I wonder if Joe's 'Legacy' was carefully planned so he could finish unbeaten?

Yes Haye has done well so far apart from one slip up but he is not in Joe's league at the moment. Joe is a legend, he's beaten everyone at Supermiddle and now he's beaten B-hop. B-hop makes everyone look bad because he doesn't try to win, he just tries to avoid losing. Against an attacking fighter (a la Lacy), you see more quality from Joe. He did well - he won!

Roy is my favourite fighter of the last 20 years but he is wrong here. You can't ignore Compubox, Joe landed 26 more punches on B-Hop than Roy did when Roy beat Bernard Hopkins - and that was a peak Roy Jones. Joe didn't look as strong as he does at Supermiddle but in the last few years Joe hasn't been known for his brutal strength in that division either. Joe stepped up to the mark in a different weight and he was the only one who wanted to fight in that ring and deserved the victory.

Look at Joe's face for christ sake, he only got a minor scratch on his nose. It just looks like he popped a large spot that's all!! Neither fighter really troubled the other as far as power was concerned. One lucky punch flustered Joe but for the remainder of the fight he was on the front foot. Joe Won and deserved to. End of.

Roy jones jr would beat joe without to much trouble when he was in his prime. Joe is a good fighter his punches are accurate but there is no denying he does slap and he is not that powerful for a boxer, what he lacks in skill he makes up for in speed. bernard is technically a better boxer he read Joe's style better than joe read him
