He got too far out of the groove, and kept over correcting. The steering box was loose, or he was in over his head driving a car that quick. I blame the slicks. There were either under inflated, had the wrong wheel width for the tire, or he mixed radials on the front with bias slicks on the rear. I've been in that situation before. It's why I switched to drag radials in the rear.

Never let a inexperienced driver drive your super pro drag car unless you know they have the money to replace it. I saw a simmular type of incident at my local drag strip a guys 1st race in a brand new 2006 dodge viper. He did a burn off with street tires,poorly, grabbed for 2nd gear car went sideways and instead of lifting he grabbed for 3rd and pinnballed of both barriers totaling the car. He walked away thankfully ,until he got home and had to tell his wife why his brand new viper was totaled

He doesn't get out of the throttle until it's way too late and he couldn't steer the car. He just paniced...I think it was in 2001 at Sacramento, Ca. I was standing behind the car when it launched. That sucks. That's the kinda thing that could put an end to a low budget racer's driving. He basically has to start all over. That car was destroyed probably along with the engine. No doubt he lost a lot of money in 1 second. Now had he had a Monte Carlo or 2nd or 3rd generation Camaro he probably wouldn't have to spend so much on something that doesn't help you go faster, that being paying more for the lines and sheet metal contour of the 1st generation Camaro.
