what position are your feet...are they sprayed our equally for each foot...hogan suggests having the right foot perpendicular to the target (as he says "it acts as a governor to restrict the right hip from turning too much" and then hogan suggests your left foot be turn out a quarter turn to help the left hip "clear out of the way" ...In your teachings ,your a big advocate for allowing the right hip to turn freely, therefore Hogan's foot positon wouldn't work well with this swing
I was told I tilted my hips torward the ball too much. I did this to make my back flat but actually it makes my spine into an S , Your DVD doesn't have my answer or I'm missing it. I trying to bend from waist with no tilt and it looks more like Hogans posture in Five Lessons. Any suggestions.
Have a look at my "golf pro lesson don't keep your head down" part 1 and 2 video; it has more insight on posture; the spine should make an "S" as this is it's natural anatomical position; see my "golf pro lesson learn your golf machine" too!
I noticed that you swing your arms very upright,is that to allow your arms to "fall" in the pocket?
In this video have you tilted your right side against your braced left side or is it just a trigger for your takeaway? maybe a stupid question but i haven´t seen all your fantastic videos...yet.
Yes on the arms falling; see "golf pro lesson arms falling down plane" and "golf pro lesson perpetual motion drill"; you should also look at my most important video which is called "golf pro lesson learn your golf machine"; Shawn
hey Shawn. new to your site. very informative stuff! however, i am overswinging way too much and it's killing my tempo. any tips on how I can "shorten" my backswing? thanks and keep up the great work.
Shawn, I'm a sloucher by nature and once I bent at the hips and felt that stacked feeling my consistency improved 100%. My back though... not so much. Any tips? I'm sure right now i'm overextending (concave spine) but I feel unless I do that, I'm still slouching! Any tips on how to feel aligned posture wise?
Have a look at my "golf Pro Lesson Posture Integrity" as well as the "Golf Pro Lesson Don't Keep the Head Down" part 1 and 2 which deals with posture; there are more nuggets in there too; Shawn
Shawn, thanks for that. I will take a look at those videos again. Once again, thanks for all your efforts with these videos. They are marvellous! My golf is definitely improving thanks to you.
Shawn, like everyone I am very appreciative of all the videos and have viewed them all many times. Is there a set up routine that you recommend for out on the course to obtain that stacked feel you describe? I can duplicate what you do in the video at home but on the course my setup can change, sometimes dramatically.
How does the length of clubs affect posture ? I always felt like I need longer clubs being 6-4, but some of the clubfitters say I dont, just adjust the lie angle more upright ! However they still seem to short. Any advice ?
I would definitely get a second opinion and also go to a clubmaker who is not afraid of listening to his customers; if you feel there is something wrong, then there probably is!
hi shawn, find your videos very helpful might even purchase a dvd ;)
just one thing, ive always been taught to keep my feet flat , with the weight more on the balls of the feet.
and your telling us to put the weight through the heels.ive tried your technique and find that by doing so , although im making a good contact with the ball, i seem to be hitting the ball more to the left.
You do not want to have it on the heels but more so through the arches of the feet; Have a look at the greatest drill ever called" Golf Pro Lesson Feet together drill" and then continue with "Sequence Power drills" then the "one leg drill" and finally the "Downswing Weightshift" videos; The DVD has all this and more and is all in priority sequence; you will find these on the "you Tube Shawn" page of my website...take your time and enjoy! Shawn
Just enough to apply pressure to the arches of your feet from the butt; the legs should feel very supportive yet relaxed so they can flow with the swing like in the "Weight Shift" video where you see me with my hands on my hips during the turn; Shawn
1st off.. good video.. been learning a lot from u.. but one question tho.. i'm a fairly big guy.. 5'10.. bt i hav a fairly smal feet size.. oni slightly bigger thn my mom's.. wel.. i having afully hard time 2 tay balance thru out da swing.. does smaller feet size contribute tat..?? i hav da tendency 2 spin out my left foot all da time..!! pls help me..
Have a look at the "Top 25 Teacher Swing Sequence" and "Top 25 Teacher Fine tuning the best drill" videos...start with a complete turn in your backswing and sequence the downswing properly so you have something solid to hit into...Shawn
gona try that out tomorrow on da range.. mine 2 tel hw far u hit your 7 iron on average..?? i'm rily flattened by the fact tat pro's can simply hit it more thn 170yds.. hw do they do tat..??
Do you have any Drills for staying in balanced during the swing? I tend to fall forward and have deep divots sometimes. I do walk and run on the balls of my feet to toe. Should I set up more on my heels ?
I have over 60 videos uploaded here and 40+ have to do with balance...:) They all Start with "Golf Pro Lesson"...then the key words...Look for the "Stacked and Complete"; the "Leverage Uphill", The "On the Slopes" for a start, then let me know...Shawn
One quick question for you. I known that the feet should feel like suction cups under a stacked golf posture. My question is , how should I place my feet in this stacked posture? Ben Hogan said he turns his left foot out about 45 degrees and his right foot perpendicular to the target line.
Both feet should be slightly open...better front to back balance and easier to turn and return through the ball...going to have to make a video on this!

Hi Shawn.
Nice posture and it sets you up with a big pocket
to swing through with your arms and club.
I noticed that you swing your arms very upright,is that to allow your arms to "fall" in the pocket?
In this video have you tilted your right side against your braced left side or is it just a trigger for your takeaway? maybe a stupid question but i haven´t seen all your fantastic videos...yet.
