@thedarkone2134 I think it's because they identify with the "i" prefix all the hardware meant for home consumer use. MacPro and Xserve are meant for enterprise use (although I wish they made a version of MacPro more similar in spec and price to a tower PC counterpart, I would never switch from my PC to an iMac)

@ilovedeadmau5 Its to host websites and file, i doubt google uses apple brand but when you go to google.com or wiki or how ever you search your connecting to one of those(not neccisarily apple) and then it sends you the search results etc. so it needs a lot of power and storage to distribute to many people at one time

@zabakkabou Its a server, not intended for home use AT ALL, though id like to have one to replace my homade server made out of an old computer haha, basically its used to host websites or files, i use mine as a private file server so i can access my files anywhere i have internet instead of keeping them on my harddrive, what i do does not require the xserve though, id only buy it if i had a popular website

A server is a Large computer usually used in business. It is ment to run not at someones desk but in a server room (usually with other servers). Servers are used to host files in a business, or Run websites. This happened to be an Apple server so it works great in a work environment full of other Mac's. Hope this helps!

I'd much rather use a dell 1u rack with CentOS/Arch/Debian Etch. Never liked apples server. Decent laptops but not worth the money from what I see.

Yes, you could, but you would much rather use a mac pro. better specs for a workstation, this has a better spec setup for a server.
