Josh Groban is a great artist, but I'm sorry, his voice is way too deep to do this song effectively. It overpowers the whole thing, and pushes the music to the background, whereas, in the Linkin Park version, Chester's voice syncs up perfectly with the music, as he is wont to do. Plus, the music is a, I guess you could say, "remixed" version, it sounds almost nothing like the original track. I love this song, but Josh kinda dropped the ball here.

I like both but I can see your point of view. Some songs have different centerpieces: voice, instruments, production. For this song you're favoring the production aspects which I can agree with. I probably wouldn't like Josh singing "Personal Jesus" or Barbra Streisand singing "Edge of 17". It probably wouldn't work.

great version, little bit of a different mood but i really like it. i prob prefer lp's version because its a little more complacent and desolate, does a great job of capturing the feeling of a quiet wood in the winter with snow on the ground and trees. but this is great too, josh groban is phenomenal

Josh has added more effects and instruments to make it sound better.

But to be honest , chesters voice sounds better. Josh has got a strong voice but this song needs a sober voice like chester's.

And 2ndly , Josh SUCKS when singing this song live (I'll not generalise all his live acts coz i've jus seen this 1) . Just see chester singing this live and compare.

And the main thing , the original is always better, let it be any artist who made the original.

I like both versions of the song, but I give the edge to LP because you can understand what's being said during the elongated notes in LP, I agree that Josh's voice is better, but I like those other words in the song, it gives the song more depth

this is good........but cannot beat LP's version....

yeah,i know he has added many effects , computerised beats , extra instrument , backing vocals to make it more glammy n catchy,,,

but the original, softer version does justice to the lyrics....

just keyboard , drums , guitar , violin n yea,,not to forget turntables , sounds more versatile than this .....

and josh's voice is strong and good,,,agreed,,,but doesnt match this type of song,,,

Who ever wrote this comment knows nothing about Linkin Park...Mike Shinoda wrote this song. And Linkin Park recorded it with their first single, One Step Closer...Linkin Park leaked this song all the way back when they released Hybird Theory in 2000, and my december was the 13th track on Hybird Theory when Linkin Park released the special edition on March, 11 2002...Groban is an excellent singer but you are a naive fool if you actually believe this was orginally Groban's song

Yeah, you are completely correct. And clearly Groban is covering it for a reason. My December a ballad of sorts for LP, Groban knows how good LP is. He did an excellent job on this and both versions are exceptional.
