  • i have a 2010 corolla is the cheap one and it has a 1.8L engine 5 speed manual transmicion and the only problem it has is the clutch pedal...makes a sound like an old car.

  • Mine is Japanese built. Reliability is pretty legendary even on harsh road conditions.

  • There's no reason why anyone wouldn't want this car. Its reliable to an almost unnecessary degree and Toyota's maintenance program blows any other company out of the water.

  • love the xrs

  • mazda 3 eats the corolla

  • Here are the vehicles with the fewest problems, in order of ranking, according to the J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study. All vehicles are 2007 models. 1. ...Cadillac DTS 2. ...Mercury Montego 3. ...Buick LaCrosse 4. ...Lexus LS 460 5. ...Buick Lucerne 6. ...Ford Five Hundred 7. ...Mercury Milan 8. ...Lincoln MKZ 9. ...Lexus GX 470 10. ...Audi A6 11. ...Honda Accord 12. ...Toyota Prius
  • I also forgot mention that before I had two Suzuki aerios. on one them I put 148000 miles. Loved it! Suzuki also uses Timing chains and not belts.

  • One of the best brand cars I have driven in my life is Suzuki.

The last two cars I bought are an SX4 sedan, and an XL 7 7 passenger AWD. I will always buy Suzuki. These cars are cars that not many people know about their reliability, so I will take full advantage of it. Other people usually are brainwashed by tv commercials that toyota and honda have good resale value but what they do not understand is that when you buy a Honda or Toyota you pay for that money they pay to advertise.

  • @jazzelton I have a friend that had one of those suzuki SUV's the one the chevy tracker was based on. that reache 500,000 mi on it not even kidding although they replaced the engine once at 250 but the car itself had 500 they sold it and bought the new suzuki suv

  • @jazzelton agree......... but then still more people will outright buy a car thats more expensive that will get them better resale value......... you cant change their minds over night.

  • Buy a honda just so you dont have to deal with toyota dealers! Toyota is like Chev now mass produced! Just passs get a 2004 corolla save your money

  • the new 2.4 motor really suckss . the motor isnt like the older ones :( . toyota + yamaha was the perfect blendd .

  • @michael9196 agree toyota + yamaha.......

  • The exterior looks nice. The interior looks cheap though.

  • @ILVRACN agree but...... there are many cars that look cheaper than this...... and what is better a cheap looking interior or a boring interior?

  • The 2010 is a lot spacier. Thats why I like it. It's awesome.

  • well yaris has more legroom

  • If i had the money i would buy this car

  • I got this car! A very reliable car from a very reliable car manufacturer!

  • This car rules!

  • 158 hp? you gotta be shittin me

  • I have a 2005 Corolla S with stick shift. 35.5 mpg/city, 41 mpg/hwy! I checked the mileage myself. Fun to drive. No problems or complaints about anything after 45,000 miles. I'm not so crazy about the styling, but it's definitely one of the best values out there. Previous vehicle was a Honda Civic. That was also a very good car for the $. I'd recommend either to someone looking for a very reliable, affordable, high mpg car.

I did once buy a new Chevy. That's why I'm driving a Toyota.

  • that "handy button" to put the seats down, is crap. more trouble then a normal release from the inside

  • The rear seat sit too fit for someone who tall 170 cm.

  • My Corolla 2009 has a problem with the Steering The Steering tries to turn by itself. The dealer can't fix it. Someone is going to get hurt or die on problem.

  • is it auto steering ??, steering wheel center it self

  • I will never know. I don't have the car anylonger.

  • haterr

  • nice

  • big 3 are losers sinking LIKE A ROCK

  • agreed, they failed to keep up with the times and insisted on building gas chugging machines and now their paying for it.

  • My '09 is a great car, and I have plenty of room in the back seat when I sit behind my seat, and I'm 6'

  • just the opposite, mine is very quiet

  • Mine is a bit noisy coz it's a 2.4L

  • the belts can be squeaky sometimes

  • I need some1 to talk2... hit me up on my msn live messenger id jane22fall H

  • good car, nice quality, very very reliable but not very pretty design

  • after-market parts... we need developers reviving corolla sports with in the new 10th gen. corolla xrs

  • Well he's fat so he might have some problems with room in the back.

  • Nice car !

    My Next bye ;)

  • is it coming to the u.k

  • Is there enough room to fuck in the back seat. I don't know why this is never considered when doing a car review.

  • OMG...does it matter

  • yes it does... how can you ask that

  • oh yes theirs plenty of room brother i bought it and tested it out and its pretty roomy but then again im not 6.1 or fat and yes it does matter how bout if your going for a cruise with your gf or bf and you get a little frisky back seat of a car always comes in handy unless of course youve never gotten laid......

  • yea im pretty tall and this car wont cut it

  • Corollas are Japanese cars, but are built in North America.

  • how bout a FORD build in Mexico

  • Yeah. Out in West Virgina.

  • @rnorred06 my corolla is 100% built in japan

  • tengo un 2008 y es un gran auto pero 2009 es mejor por algo toyota esta en la posicion en la que esta en el mundo saludos a todos

  • VVTi sorry no L haha

  • its dual VVT-i !

  • Great Car even the s model, with the 1.8 drives great.

  • I'm getting one for my b-day!

  • i got the s with this same color

  • this is better than the 2009 Chevy Aveo. Don't forget you dumbfucks who hate mail me, the Aveo is actually made by Daewoo. LOL

  • This guy can never fit in any backseat he sits in. Wonder why.

  • That seat fold down switch came straight from the 2008 Accord.

  • it's been in the corolla for a long time

  • very nice

  • toyota, honda, nissan, mitsubishi, mazda, suzuki are the best cars!(all made in japan)

    German cars are good too

  • they're not all "made" in japan. they're japanese brands but they're made all over the world.

  • But i think the main guy behind those companies is orignally from Japan, sure the parts come from different parts of the world but where it started form was from Japan

  • i know. but not all toyotas are made/assembled in Japan. some toyotas are made right here in America.

  • yah japanese car are awesome!

  • Lol i dont get why in australia we got this model last year along with the corolla hatch (the Auris), and we have also had only the choice of the 1.8L engine exactly the same as this, but no other country had this engine. Well at least now i'll be able to perhaps find tuning parts a hell of a lot easier. (yes i know this the XRS, but im referring to the base model with the 1.8L)

  • it's alright. i think the mazda 3 is still more attractive, though.

  • Maybe it's just my poor working-class upbringing in play here. I've had a long relationship with Toyota sedans and I've always respected them for there workmanesque build quality. I'll admit that they've slipped alittle in recent years, but the alternatives in cheap and reliable trans are few. After how long it took mits to adress their crank-walk issues in the 90's, and honda's long implemented and shortsighted use of zero tolerance valve clearances, I'll probably continue driving toyota.

  • The Lancer actually looks like ass. It's trying to look like it's bad ass big brother, the EVO. However, the regular Lancer is lacking balls. Cars that try to look fast, but are slow as hell are called RICE.

  • You haven't seen one but talk like you know anything. I've owned Corolla and now own Lancer 2008. Lancer beats traffic any time I have no issues with performance, unlike my old Corolla that I had to shift to Low every time I needed to go uphill or to pass. It looks fast and it drives fast maybe thanks to factory tuning and higher torque.

Don't get me wrong. I would want to see Corolla improved, it's just not happening.

  • Also, as I've said, I want a car that does not look boring like hell. Toyota is killing everything good about corolla with this stupor look styling. I want personality and this is not it.

  • There's a reason why the Corolla destroys the Lancer in sales YEAR AFTER YEAR. That's because it's the BETTER car.

  • Whatever, I will just say that people who hope to bargain for this corolla in the future are not getting my bet because there will be better vehicles. And as a fact this last year Mitsu had 15% sales increase. Toyota sales in North America as you might know were down.

  • "Toyota sales in North America as you might know were down."

Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!! Toyota took over GM as the world biggest car manufacturer within the last several months. Boy, are you in denial.

Toyota sells in a week what Mitsubishi struggles in a year. Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!!!!!!11

  • By the way, 2007 initial quality survey has Mitsubishi at #30 out of 36 in quality. LOL!!!

Make sure you smile at the Corolla driver when he drives by you as you sit in your car that just broke down. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

  • First, GM had their own sales down. I would not count GM a reference since their cars suck.

Then, to show you that I am not ignorant, before I went with Mitsu I did testdrove Camry, Highlander and Rav4. Cheap plastic, lack of customization and, worst of all, crapy workmanship scared me away. Mitsu got issues too, but at least they did not take me for a complete idiot. Mitsu, unlike Toyota, did not push it on me in effort to improve their sales rating - to be the first is not important!

  • Your mitsubishi also has shitty resale value besides having poor quality.

In 5 years, a stripped down Corolla will still be worth more than your automatic lancer.

Toyota never had the fear of going broke, unlike Mitsubishi. Luckily the Japanese government bailed them out.

Toyota can BUY the Japanese government.

  • "Cheap plastic, lack of customization and, worst of all, crapy workmanship scared me away."

Is that why Mitsubishi is #30 out of 36 of producing quality cars?

"Mitsu got issues too, but at least they did not take me for a complete idiot"

    It's too late for that.

  • Hell, I'm not going to argue with you anymore. Want to live in your world with bullshit numbers, do it.

  • "Hell, I'm not going to argue with you anymore. Want to live in your world with bullshit numbers, do it. "

So automotive publications are all bullshit just because you don't like what you read? LOL!!!

Your mechanic will love you for giving him plenty of work.

  • people who knock on the newer models are just sore because they're stuck with their older, slower, uglier version of the car.

Talk about sour grapes. A 2002 Corolla couldn't even catch a cold.

  • i like it.

  • OMG that car is ugly. efficient but still ugly

  • so ugly!

  • Indeed, toyota keeps making corollas a low end crapy looking car nothin inspiring, just a boring shopping bags mover.

  • The Corolla is not a BMW. For me I've always loved the car - looks great and is very affordable & dependable. Like people, all cars are different. Please don't respond by saying I'm cheap or anything - I could pull some money today out of several accounts and buy several BMW's or the like with cash today if I wished. I love the Corolla and spend on other things in life! Everyone is different and I respect opinions, but I disagree with you calling the Corolla cheap.

  • Nice car, especially the XRS, I can't wait for this to come out so I can trade in my 2001 le.

  • what?

  • where you from ..."shyt"

  • that pretty describes it...a little flashy but does not over do it! which is a good thing right?

  • I had a 1988 for 13 years and now own a 2002 - a wonderful reliable car - it has never let me down!!

  • 2002 year model was the last corolla that had decent looks. Everything after has aweful exterior design. Toyota is moving backwards.

  • I drive a 2002 and hope to keep it 13 years as I did with my 1988 - made it to 283,000 carefree miles! I love my car, but I do like the new version too - I think it looks decent!

  • Take a look at Mitsubishi Lancer 2008. My point is that low end cars don't have to be boring.

  • This prooves that everyone is different. I certainly would not purchase a Mitsubishi anything - I don't care how they look. I love how the Corolla looks. Everyone has their own opinion regarding what looks boring. I notice many young hispanic men drive Mitsubishis here in Northern New Jersey/NYC where I live - it seems to be a trend with that one ethnic community for some reason. And that's cool! I personally do not care for the style at all.

  • LOL, if not for car design then for people - watch Lancer reviews. 90% of reviewers are NOT latino. I owned corolla 1999, the same model as 2002, now I own Lancer and believe me with 650W premium sound, 7 airbags, 152/168HP and a price of a corolla it is better regardless of your take on ethnic issues. It's even bigger than corolla because it shares platform with Outlander - midsize SUV. I should not even mention design here.

  • OK - sounds good to me! I do tend to be a stick in the mud - when I find something I like I stick with it. For me I still love the Corolla. I don't need/want more in a car really. It is comfortable and reliable. The ethnic issue was merely an observation on life here in the NYC area - nothing more.

  • My mother kept her 1982 Corolla for 22 years and 365,000 miles. Way to go toyota!

  • I think that the Yaris has more leg room in the back seats. People who buy Corollas don't want a powerful car. They want a quality car, cheap on gas, reliable, that gets a good trade in value. I had a 1990 Corolla with 102 HP and 13 inch wheels. Don't be too hard on this car guys, its 132 HP with 15 or 16 inch wheels. It's very good.

  • the 09 xrs has 158 hp and ur right ppl want a corlla kus its cheap on gas and reliable but what if u can have all that plus a sports car ??

  • How come we always get the ugly version here in the US? I've seen the Asia version and they look much much better.

  • Ghey. Still ugly and grossly underpowered.

  • the guy said its more of a family car

  • Still prefer our Corolla version :/ Simular to the Matrix but not as big, and with better engines. Huzzah <3

  • always improving good job Toyota

  • No good long or side shots of car to judge overall appearance.

  • i like the front better than the previous generation toyota has done well with this and overall its nicer lookin than the old ones

  • Doesn't seem to be a good car, but you can bet a bunch of imports lovers will flock out to buy it just cause it's a Toyota

  • I hate hown toyota makes all there cars the same. It's like they had taken the Camry, toke a few inches off, and we worked a few things and called it the new Corolla.

  • much better than the older one, too bad they wont show the walkaround of the car...
