After going to this and the game as a neutral party, I finally understand all of the talk of how they are the #1 hated college fan base. I don't know when it became cool to get drunk and berate a ten year old to the point of tears because he has a Nebraska shirt on. Grow up and have some respect for yourselves, the game and it's fans...

If you allow tickets to be sold to the public then any fan of any team has the right to buy them and attend the game. It's not "your turf", it's a sporting event open to the public. Show some class and respect.

You obviously don't have team you root for otherwise you would understand the possesivness fans have over "their turf." I don't think it's right how blatantly mean some fans are to another, but I think fans have the right to be possesive over their turf. Whether that be Wisconsin fans over Camp Randall or Nebraska fans over Haymarket Park.

Does that give you the right to spit on people or pour booze on them? All these things happened at the NU-UW game. It was so embarassing for the university that Alvarez and Bielema had to once again denounce the student section. That's not "protecting your turf", that's being trashy. Stay classy Wisconsin.

@fcbarcelona4 It's just stupid to argue who has classier fans, because every fanbase has those that make others uncomfortable. I went to Penn State, so I already hate most of our fans because they're either from Pittsburgh or Philly. There's always some gracious fans that are very hospitable, but there will always be those who throw beer cans behind a frat at fans (PSU) or throw things at the opposing team's band (PSU) or mug two people outside the stadium in the other teams' colors (PSU).

I want proof that we're the "most hated." Anyways, as for the kid being berated, I don't know what to say. I go to a couple games a year and most people leaving the opposing teams fans alone. What you saw was probably a once in 100 times occurence.

And just for the record, Wisconsin fans have respect for themselves and the game and the other fans. Again, try going to ALL college football games, and than call us the most hated fan base. (If you haven't heard, the #1 hated fan base is Ohio or Notre Dame, just to let you know)
