  • 5 guys tried to catch that Z

  • @Pr0t3st3d

    Haha 5 mustang owners

  • Probably the greatest car commercial EVER

  • I remember this commercial

  • I've been watching this commercial every once in a while for the past 15 years, and every time it gets to the last line, the hair on my neck raises straight up.

  • @DETdream Same here!

  • "Twin....Turbos....Kick....In...." hahah what a classic

  • I love my NA 93' Nissan 300ZX :)

  • Simply not true. Was played many times. I remember it being one of my fave commercials at the time. Don't know where you got your information. I even have it on one of my old VHS tapes recorded between shows. Once again, I saw this ad MANY times in the early nineties. Maybe you're thinking of the Apple ad which Scott also directed which did only run once. Funny, but I looked up the commercial and it's like clip/paste with the same phrasing. I guess someone wanted it to be true.

  • TWIN TURBOS KICK IN

  • FYI - this is before CG in commercials. They actually jumped the Z over the camera. I saw the behind the scenes making of at Chiat Day in 1990. I also had the 2nd Red Twin Turbo Z in the Sf Bay area - they only gave each dealer 1 twin turbo Z per month. It won sports car of the year 6 years in a row and was faster than any Vette or 911 at the time. My custom plates were 911SREZ - on a frame that said Porsche Substitute (making fun of there is no substitute ad.) 16 years later, my G35 is =.

  • Sorry but the truth is the Liberals at the time thought it encouraged speeding even though it was a DREAM campaign. Chiat Day also had another great ad pulled that year with 2 bunji jumpers - one with Reebok shoes and one with um - starts with N... jumps off a bridge... one rebounds.. the other... not so much with the tag - fits better than your ordinary athletic shoes. All the networks refused to play it but fox ran it in prime time in the Simpsons. I worked at Chiat/Day in 1990.

  • One day I will have the pleasure of owning this car

  • @VandQand3and0 same here, i plan on getting this as my first car

  • i am lucky to own one of these amazing cars yuss 300z ! great car

  • ive got a 92 na 2 seat slicktop, that was imported from japan in 95, so its a real fairlady its great best car i have ever driven

  • thats not true at all . this was on US tv many times.

  • @DSelbyEsq - Sorry no. It aired once on the super bowl to be replaced with a crappy ad of a silver 300ZX being offloaded from the boat dock by crane and then after Nissan cancelled the Z in 1996 or 1997, they made an awesome Barbie and Ken ad driving a toy Z (no longer sold?!) to Van Halens song "She really got me now." Chiat Day gave each band member a Z in order to use their song was the rumor.

  • 4 people suffer from boost lag.

  • Racing a moded supra yesterday in my twin turbo down the motorway, he hit 120mph and i was doing obout 150mph and just left the poor cunt behind

  • I know it doesn't seem right. But imagine if Nissan made a new 300zx. i know its called the 350 & 370, but WHAT ABOUT A NEW 300ZX! anyway still, im happy with my 1993 Babie.

  • my friend has one, fuck is it nice

  • I worked on this commercial - Stuart Waks was the editor

  • they pulled it off because it promoted street racing??...um, this is a 300hp twin turbo ROAD CAR!

  • @Nfordmann Same here man! I just don't know what it is. I also get chills like crazy when I watch this video. I think Nissan should continue doing commercials like they did this in the past.

  • Love my 1990 300zx-=-Twin!!

  • Why doesn't Nissan make commercials like this anymore. Now a days, your asleep before it ends.

  • I had a moment like this sort of..I used to have a modded twin turbo 300zx with about 400 hp at the time and I was racing a 350z supercharged and it was neck and neck but the turbo lag finally went away and the twin...turbos...kicked...in and I pulled away lol

  • I had a moment like this sort of..I used to have a modded twin turbo 300zx with about 400 hp at the time and I was racing a 350z supercharged and it was neck in neck but the turbo lag finally went away and the twin...turbos...kicked...in and I pulled away lol

  • always always love that video...

  • Ahh...turbo lag in the 90's

  • @Nfordmann i know what you mean. I had a dream like this once.. Except i was being shot at..

  • i swear to god everytime i watch this vid with the volume up i get the chills down my back

  • Ridley Scott directed this superb commercial and I'm looking forward to his new science fiction film "Prometheus" starring Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron and Angelina Jolie.

  • Watch it over and over! Loving it! First time watching it. Didn't care about the SuperBowl in 90, cuz Cowgirls and the Bills played. :)

  • This is a car to have in a lifetime.

  • One of my favorite commercials of all time.

  • Daaaaammmmmn that's just awesome!

  • Kit from knight rider wanted to be in a 300zx, but the producers wouldn't all it.. XD

  • ...and as fast as you can say "Knight Rider".....

  • thats some massive turbo lag..

  • I still long for the day I can afford to have one! I dream about this car since high school! The styling is still beautiful!

  • One of the most beautiful cars ever made; its styling trumps both the 350 and the 370. I've wanted one for 20 years. Back in 1990 I got to ride in a black twin turbo, and the person driving really pushed it to the limit... I was hooked immediately. I've also ridden in an Aston Martin V12 Vantage... twice, and as impressive as it is, I would rather have the 300. A. it's more practical & B. I wouldn't be afraid to park it somewhere. I really wish Nissan would bring back this body style.

  • @lonestarduffer

It is truly depressing to drive anything else after you have driven a Z32. I have driven countless Mustangs, 350Z's and even a few Mercedes, but no car feels as good as the 300ZX. By far my favorite of all the Z Car lineage.

  • I saw this commercial live, and I've never forgotten it. Glad to find it here!

  • How many times did you guys replay this vid?

  • badass commercial right there. what happened to good commercials and good cars.i'll tell you what happened, censorship and big government ruined it

  • honestly what a sick commercial i love 300z's and they conveyed it just right with this

  • I don't know where you were living, but Nissan did not pull this ad. I saw it numerous times when I was living in Atlanta...

  • Damn!! I remember first seeing this commercial bout 20yrs ago, and my friends and I looking at each other in shock at what a friggin amazing commerical that was!!

  • they promoted this commercial more than once n the first time they promoted it was during a superbowl. n i know this because wen i saw it during the superbowl i baught it u dumbass

  • lol engine bay

  • Excellent commercial. I am an original owner of a 92 TT, manual (27k original miles)...one if not the best car I have personally owned. I also bought a new 03 350z....not the same in the least...I just sold it for an Aston Martin Vantage....and that still doesn't give me the same satisfaction as the old Z32!

  • Guys im looking for one if you know any one with it , please msg me !!!!!!!!!

  • fuckin hilarious idea for a commercial lol

  • the sexiest japanese car ever.

  • the twin turbo z is by far the best car value for your money that Nissan has ever produced...

  • I have to say, one of THE best commercials I have ever seen.

  • 20 years later and them twin......turbos.....STILL.....kick....in!!! hahaha baddest car ever. Gotta own one to understand.

  • That's some insane lag...he must have GT28's and stock exhaust. lol gotta love the Z32...

  • The explosion sound at the end was the suspension breaking....

  • @StupidKieleVideos I was thinking it was actually the sound of the car breaking the sound barrier

  • @StupidKieleVideos

    LMFFAAAOOOO

  • thisis when Nissan actually put soul into their cars.

  • Great cars indeed and I always admired them since they first came out (I do have a dealer brochure from mid-'89, prior to the turbo being introduced). I remember this commercial when it debuted during Super Bowl XXIV (49ers vs Broncos). In fact, I was also very fortunate to see the very jet used in this commercial in person (a Hawker Hunter, wasn't owned by Nissan though) as my father's company was doing some work on that jet at the time.

  • Idiot below me "3L V6 not built to last" what are you a red neck that's drives trucks!!! I mean c'mon that car was way ahead if it's time and still is. This baby has 300hp and does 0-60mph in 4 to 5 seconds, I mean that's way better then some sport cars today. If your gonna hate go comment on a smart car video.

  • 3 L....V 6. C'mon thats weak, and not built to last.

  • @TheCottonTop This mentality is exactly what holds many American car enthusiasts back. Not a fanboy, I like all cars, but if you knew about this engine, not just a 3L V6, but for its time multiport injection, DOHC, Coil on Plug, variable valve timing, not to mention the twin turbo thing... back when lots of american cars were still trying to get off OHV carbs or throttle body injection engines.

  • @Tygur This car was so far ahead of it's time. I would kill a man if it meant I'd have a factory brand new 300zx twin turbo. Okay maybe not that far, but it's tempting haha

  • @sublime95 you aint never lied!

  • @sublime95 Too bad automakers don't do throwbacks. Man that would be sweet.

  • @sublime95 well i have one with 120 k on it will that do?

  • @sublime95 Until you have to work on one.

  • @TheCottonTop Maybe you'd know more about how good these engines are if you wernt to busy in bed with your dad hillbilly.

  • @TheCottonTop have you owned one? no, probably not. These engines can hold 1000bhp in them with just forged internals, unlike your miserable modular V8 which needs a lot of reinforcement to the block just for it to hold 900+bhp in

  • @TheCottonTop Then why are they still running better than most other brands 21yrs later?

  • did there say cumer

  • Cool getting a car for College! Saw this car for 4 grand! Looks good.

  • i've owned 2 300ZX's and the twin turbo was insanely fast, however, the stock brakes sucked...

  • @siliconsurf - I miss spoke when I said 'stock'. Brembos all around ; )

  • i got the first of it's model 1990 300zx...twin turbo...automatic...still fast as shit...

  • I loved this car... my car!

  • @hjorgan67 - .......My last car was gutted No bumpers, AC, passenger seats, NADA! practically stock engine except for exhaust and minor mods.

  • @hjorgan67 - Sounds awesome!!! I didnt know that... I plan on getting one soon from junkyard as project car and ordering a TT engine. I plan to make it only an exhibition car and gut it like a fish making full use of power to weight ratio. :D

  • @pepito357 ....Yup they dont make car commercials like they used to!!! Boring @ss car commercials now adays....

  • thats how they ought to make car commercials !

  • justabouttocatchme, TWIN TURRRBO KICK IN.

  • i love my car twin turbo mine is white tho

  • They should remake the commercial for the GT-R.

  • @ hjorgan67 Does Your Car Fly Like In The Commercial Also? ...LOL

  • @AAAnomalyyy - Most recently on I-5 between Bay Area and Palm Springs... had her up to 130... briefly... [someone in a Lexus or something thought they wanted to drive fast] I must confess no airborne adventures to date. The top end acceleration [say from 80 - 120+] is unreal in this car.

  • i saw this commercial when it came out years ago. I got chills then and i still get them now from watching it!!

  • ouffff

  • i could not love a human baby as much as i love this car.

  • @adamjacques1 SAME HERE im 17 i got my license and its that time to start thinking of what car i want and i seriously seriously dream about this car its monster for street drag also <3..300Zx

  • @adamjacques1 me too hahaha. kinda sad to think so but it's definitely true. we're the plague on our planet lol

  • @adamjacques1 Well put, I feel the same way about my 93. Its been in the shop for a week now and I get it back tonight, I've missed it more than any girl, more than my kids, more than anything, while its been gone. I got sick to my stomach every time my mechanic would tell me it was going to take longer than expected. (Getting new style injectors, and my mechanic has to manufacture the plenum himself since they keep sending him the wrong one)

  • I WANT ONE! D:

  • im glad i had the chance to have one. it maybe not have been a TTZ but it was a Z for sure. sadly i was only 18 when i got it and now i had to sell it. didn't expect how much money was needed to keep it running clean. i do plan on getting another one when i sell my S14.

  • cant wait til i get to own one

  • Ok, so I bought one, a 92 Twin Turbo Z. Man it hauls, mostly stock but it has a JWT upgraded ECU as I discovered today. Probably around 360 HP. It's so sweet.

Yeah, I remember this commercial, and I remember going: oh that's so stupid, it can't outrun a plane! Well, I guess I was like twelve.

  • One of my all time favorite car commercials! I wanted a 300Z after seeing this ad.

  • they really should of kept the twin turbo concept for the Z's

  • im buying one its settled!!! this is guna b my first car :D

  • @indarkened

It'll be your last one too. Start with an N/A because without any driving experience, you'll womp down on that gas the first time and first gear will propel you right into a tree. Don't make a rookie mistake. I bought a 91 N/A 2 seater and kept it that way for a year to get a good feel for it and then swapped out for the VG30DETT once I was comfortable. This is NOT, I say again, NOT made to be a first car for someone.

  • @BlueIceLS1

i did get an N/A i bought it 2 weeks ago... TT r too expensive for a first car... plus they cost much more to maintain... so for someone my age wudnt b smart... nd its not like i dont have experience its my first car but not the first car ive ever driven... lol how much did ur swap cost?...

  • @indarkened

The engine itself (out of a 95 with the new style fuel injectors before the 96 model when they dropped the HP down to 280) was $1,200, then I swapped the T25's for GT30's which ran me another $2,500, but luckily for me, I have a friend with the time and patience to do the work out of his garage so he didn't charge me anything. So all said and done, $3,700, but keep in mind that's - andy labor cost a shop is going to charge you, which won't be cheap.

  • @BlueIceLS1 thats great ur lucky most shops will do they swap for like 6-8 thousand dollars :/... maybe one day ill swap mine or jus buy a tt then ill have 2 z's :D lol... but yea z's r awesome... mine might not b turbo but its still decently fast :D

  • @BlueIceLS1 I think your mistaken they never dropped the HP of the Z32... you might be getting confused with auto Twin turbos which had 280hp compared the 5speed which had 300hp

  • @707umair I'm not sure of the specifics of the UK / Canadian / Australian / Japanese models, but in '96 for the US models, Variable cam timing (NVTC) was dropped and factory HP dropped to 280 on the twin turbo models. They also introduced OBD II electronics, and the driver's seat back rest no longer included adjustable side bolsters.

  • SuperBowl 1992, I believe. I threw a party for this super bowl, and the commercial aired that day. We were all screaming! There was a tradition back then that the super bowl commercials would only air ONCE.

  • Wow... I look at this commercial and makes me remember my Z...

Some people think this commercial was stupid, because of the plane. But... That feeling that when you are on your Z that u r unstoppable is priceless :)

  • Z32 > 350z + 370z COMBINED

  • The best

  • Best car commercial ever.

It wasn't pulled, though. It was a Superbowl ad, meant to air only once.

  • YEAH! I just luv Riddley Scott!! Genious!

  • WOW.

  • My first car.

  • THAT COMMERCIAL WAS BADASSS!!!

  • does anyone know why they stop make the fairlady Z??

  • they still do its called the 350z

  • i believe it was because by the end of production in 96 they were going for about 55K+.

  • @bmylowie

Have you ever heard of a 350z or 370z?

    Seriously, where have you been?

  • @bmylowie well they still do 350z and 370z. but they stopped making the 300zx in 96 in the states due to poor sales... which i can't believe why no one wanted these cars and now everyone wants a 300zx. luckily i just got my 91 TT in nov of 09.

  • @707umair you got a point there. but let me ask you something THATS A BIT OFF.

how come toyota stopped producing supras long ago when they're still so wanted and bought and traded and used, etc?

  • @makugx Im not sure about the supra... but i was specifically talking about the Z32... they've even said it the reason they stopped production was because of low sales... its been proven...

  • siiiiick commercial.

  • love this car way beeter then the 240 but my friends thinks its not lol

  • tell ur friend to shove his 240 up his ass 300 ftw

  • @aspireeripsa haha 240s are cheaper but not any better. most 240s in existence today have been raced to shit with destroyed suspensions. I'm still waiting on the money to buy myself a 300z that's in top notch condition. the maintenance is going to be a bitch though over time :P

  • Best caa eva!!

  • Wow, my 1990 3z tt looks exactly like that. The color, t-top,rear spoiler, and front.

  • I have been telling folks about this for years and few recall it from the superbowl.

  • @duchunter996 ,

The commercial was only shown once in America because stupid Americans complained that it was promoting speeding.

We are always defeating our own purpose.

  • i was watching the super bowl when it aired, it excites me now as much as it did then, sweet!!

  • One of the best car commericals I've ever seen. Another good one was the one for the SRT-4.

  • wich srt4 commercial?

  • 300ZX TT one of the best Japanese sports cars of the 90s.

  • You mean 80's & 90's :) It was first released in 1989 from memory.

  • @countermeasure

Yes, you are right. But we have to understand that the latest one were the best with some important upgrades.

  • @rafaelnousa for me all Japanese sports cars of the 90s are brilliant.. :)))

  • @rafaelnousa are you kidding me? skyline GTR....

  • i don't get

    how this promotes

    street racing i mean he

races a fighter jet i mean come on...

  • Oy yeah dude this really makes me want to race a fighter jet man I bet my 300zx will beat it at the Quarte mile.... lol

  • i remember seeing this on TV when i was young i thought it great then and still is

  • yea i out ran a jet in my z once i no it wasnt a fast jet thought we were still under mach2

  • For whatever reason I still remember this commercial like it was yesterday. I think that's how great it is.

  • my z has beaten countless Indy cars and airplanes, it speaks the truth.

  • Amazing I love these cars

  • Awesome commercial. Too bad the current Z is nothing like it's predecessor.

  • i love this comercial and i love this car i'm gone 2 get 1!!!

  • definitely one of the greatest commercials of all time

  • I have this car - this exact car, silver 1991 twin turbo 5spd charcoal leather interior. All original and perfect. Yes, I'm bragging. I get a woody every time I drive it.

  • lol TMI

  • @hjorgan67 ok man i have a question. it looks like a beautiful.... well it is a beautiful car and all but how would you recommend it as say a daily driver and all. im thinking about getting rid of my current truck and wanting to get a good fun car that will also be the daily driver. so what would you say about this car????

  • @xxXsledgeXxx - A few things on the 90s Z - when you sit in it, you will instantly understand where the modern sports car cockpit was born. In terms of fun... let me put it this way, I've proposed to my WIFE that we sell the Z. She won't let me. She currently uses it as a commuter - although not heavily. This car cost $43K in 1991 - so maintenance, although very reasonable for a car of this caliber needs to be factored in for anyone considering it (or any 20 year old car) as a daily driver.

  • @hjorgan67 alright man thanks. this helped out alot.

  • @hjorgan67 you should upgrade the brakes...they don't stop on a dime...

  • @hjorgan67 too bad the one in the commercial is a 1990....

  • @hjorgan67 you cant really say the exact car... one the same yes.... but not the car in the ad...

i could start bragging about my 600whp gunmetal grey tt manual..... but i'll let u have your moment...

  • @hjorgan67 you're damn right about bragging, because you sir got a great taste in car and knows how to appreciate them. I'm jealous and 1 day I'll have 1 too!

  • Offh so nice

  • i love my Z

  • Funnier thing is, people who take everything seriously.

  • Comment removed

  • sick ass commercial

  • <3 nissan and 300zx OMFG

  • Love mine!!!!

  • still amazed ..

commercial is great and i've seen it about 3000000000 times....so intense at the end

    will never get old

    proud owner of a z32

    twin turbos...one day

  • I completely agree.

  • To this day, I still tell friends about this amazing & awesome commercial. It is one of the bestest of all commercials ever (and Super Bowl commercials too)! So glad it is posted on YouTube!

  • The group that called on this ad to be axed is a great group, but I very much disagree that the ad should have been axed, as it is an awesome ad!

  • best commercial EVER

why can't commercials be like this now?

  • i know, right!!?

  • YEAAAAAH OOO YAAAA 300ZX BABYYY!!!!!! FUCK THE 350 and 370 !!!!!! 300ZX FUCKING OWNS!!!!!!

  • i own a 96 limited edition 300zx

    and i love it

    but i hate the 350

    but i gotta admit

they have done a much better job with the 370
