my dad saw this on live tv, thinking pete townshend was the coolest fucker on the planet, damn he was right, when he kicks that mic stand over at the end it just makes you smile at how cool pete is, everyone else would look like a right twat if they did that
No one rocked harder than the Who. Tons of great drummers, guitar players who could individually stand out but to put it all together in song after song and the Who is at the top.
that was really nice of roger to do that somersault after pete slipped and fell doing that kick, to immediately take the attention/ embarrassment off of pete
I love this video... sound problems and all... true Rock n Roll artists... They all were on the top of their game... Roger... as always was totally Hotttt in this video ....
@drledsabbath No, it's not you, driedsabbath, Roger came into the bridge too early, then misses his queue at the proper time —The way the structure works is; after the 2nd chorus, the band vamps for 8 8-count measures, then takes it to the bridge —Daltry came in after the 6th 8-count measure —and, after he realizes, turns his back to the audience (probably a little embarrassed) and just stands-down on singing —Shit happens sometimes in live performance —You deal —They did —Good catch...
@AwaTu Yes I agree, and do you think they did that ending to make up for it?! Maybe they were going to do it anyway, but that is my favourite ending to this song, as it's so Who, despite Moony not being there.
@drledsabbath Yeah, the vocals came in early and then...they totally missed the bridge (with vocals) and it looks like Roger got a chuckle out of it as well! I must say they kept on rockin' hard. "Won't Get Fooled Again" has always been one of my fave Who tunes...ever since the release of "Who's Next!"
Thanks for the HQ version. I agree, the end shows the Who flair! And it's nice to hear once again Kenney Jones playing with the Who...for old time's sake.
What also makes them what they are: fighting their way through a set riddled with sound problems and equipment failure...and winning that fight in the end! I know they hated their performance at this show, but I loved it...even though I was sitting in 95 degree weather at JFK in Philadelphia!

Is it me, or did Roger say, "I moved myself and my family aside" before the right chords of the song?
drledsabbath 1 year ago
@drledsabbath
Yes. Rog threw both John & Pete off. But KJ still held it down for the occasion.

@drledsabbath No, Roger and Kenney were right but Pete and John forgot to play the break! You can see Pete's apologizing face at (around) 3.59
