  • She's called Lindy not Linda!

  • The Vulcan carried up to 21 1000lbs bombs whilst the Victor could carry up to 35

  • Best looking aircraft ever in my opinion was the Hawker Hunter.

  • @elswick1542 Hunter good looking jet, My favorite Brit aircraft Boulton Paul Defiant and Hurricane (no need to laugh), My opinion best looking aircraft B17, Lockheed Constelletion, XB70, WW1 Sopwith camel, Spad, favorite WW2 aircraft Douglas Devastator, Just because it gets bad rap for Midway people forget that every Avenger except one was shot down also

  • @jers59 Best looking aircraft is difficult if its categories for WW1 I like the Albatross,WW2 Mosquito, early Jet Hunter, cold war bomber Vulcan, cold war fighter F14 Tomcat/F4 Phantom.Modern aircraft don,t do it for me.

PS best Brit WW2 fighter the almost completely forgotten Westland whirlwind.

  • @elswick1542 My pick for 2 worse looking aircraft JU52, TU95 Bear

  • @jers59

You forgot the Savoia S-79 "Hunchback"

  • @matamuelas Strange the S-79 ugly but I like it.

  • @elswick1542

    Hahaha!

Perhaps both, the stubborn defense of Malta and the stubborn attacks of italian torpedo pilots have an epic taste?

  • @jers59 Add the 2 seat MIG 25,Supermarine Attacker.

  • @elswick1542 Mig 25 was developed in response to XB70 Valkirie looks similar to valkirie, After soviet pilot defected to US air base in Japan around 1975 the mig 25 was fully studied, found not to be that advanced. After Israel received F15,s they had no trouble downing mig 25 in combat. Soviets are laughed at for putting vacuum tubes in mig 25,s but if there was ever EMP attack modern aircraft with out vacuum tubes would fall out of the sky.

  • @jers59 Single seat MIG25 looks good the 2 two seat version on the other hand has a cobbled together in shed look. Will give the Russians 10/10 for fooling the West with that aircraft IIR it was thought to be built from Titanium with Turbofan engines found to be spot welded mild steel with huge crude turbo jets again IIR the radar was just a missile targeting system,In the UK its believed to have been developed to intercept the Hustler. Valkirie gives it to much credit.

  • @elswick1542 Titanium was to expensive for soviets to use and the tools they had to shape titasnium was not up to the job. CIA set up dummy corporation to buy titanium from soviets which they were happy to sell to build the SR71, soviets were unaware what the titanium was going to be used for.

  • @elswick1542 New aircraft are sterile looking, best looking fighters came from 50,s and 60,s , F86, Mig 15, lighting, mirages, mig 21, crusader,F4 . F35 looks too clean should never leave hanger fighters should be dirty with black smoke pouring out of them destroying the environment.

  • @elswick1542 As a youngster I was disappointed to learn a B52 wasn't going to make the 1969 Duluth airshow.Instead we were treated to a Vulcan.Too pretty to be a weapon, all white and gloss finish,It, and the crew, were big hits in coldwar northern Minnesota

  • @bv141a The Vulcan was an airshow treat, the USAF Mildenhall show was an annual highlight much looked forward to B52 and Vulcan were always the most popular aircraft just proves that the old ones are the best!

  • One of the best Cold War Bombers ever , I have a Revell Model in 1:72 of it!

  • @TheMe110 I had one also like the rest of my models covered them with airplane glue and light it on fire or blow them up with fire crackers

  • @jers59 Sounds familiar but destroyed with a slingshot.

  • "V Bombers" where perhaps not the more powerful post-war bombers, but the most handsome for sure!

Glad to see your job, professor.

  • @matamuelas B47, B52, B58, XB70 look the part of a cold war bomber best looking aircraft ever B17, and Lockheed Constellation

  • @jers59

Come on Jers, only Valkyrie looks handsome enough to match and we know what happened. Be fair, now you will say A6 Intruder or P-47 Thunderbolt were the best looking planes.

By the way, Vulcan was even handsomer than Victor, in my opinion.

  • @matamuelas pound for pound the P47 was tougest dog fighter in euro campaign , prety boys flew spitfires and P51 fighter pilots flew hurricanes and P47,s, Nothing scares enemy like B52 with 8 burning loaded with 70.000LBS of bombs the V bomber could carry 20.000LBS. B58 was sleekest bomber,A6 and P47 did the job killing enemies

  • @jers59 The Vulcan had a bomb load of 21000lb this aircraft had a load of 35000lb its far smaller than a B52,fast for its day 650mph supersonic in a dive, was the largest aircraft in the world to have dived at over Mach 1 IIR 1956.

  • @matamuelas Vulcan was something else the turning circle at Mildenhall airshow about 20 years ago was less than 600m banked with the wings vertical the B52 on the same day needed 6 miles.

  • @elswick1542

Impressive. I suposse the delta wing gave them better lift and manoeuvrability (man, this word is hard :-) )

    Nice good looking planes!

  • @matamuelas Vulcan was very good for its size at low level so it survived as a bomber for longer,Victor was superior at altitude and could lift a heavy load.

  • @elswick1542

I remember have seen a Vulcan making a scramble with the aid of rockets put on the rear section of the delta ...¿?

  • @elswick1542 .....oh you are awful........but you speak the truth.

I clearly remember watching B52s at Mildenhall taking off with that funny nose down attitude..............great days gone for ever......the days of real Heavy Metal.

  • @NAIAD49 Recent documentary on the Discovery channel showed the original prototype taking of in a similar way.Always looked like it was going down.

  • @matamuelas Check out video of B52 pilot Col Bud Holland he did things with 8 engine BUFF that fighter pilots would not do put 52 in death spiral and recovered, flew one over ridge line by 3 feet, would usually fly B52 30 feet over ground he wanted to roll 52 but unfortunely was killed in crash in 1994 before he had the chance, One of great bomber pilots. RIP

  • @jers59

    Hope he didn't flew a "H" version 30 ft over ground :-) ...

Always a waste the dead of a genuine gifted Pilot, by the way.

  • @matamuelas It was B52H Holland cut the corner to close because no aircraft were allowed to fly over nuclear weapon storage area, The west has become society of pussies you need pilots that will push the edge. If we had the wussies in charge in 1942 that we have now we would be speaking kraut and jap

  • @WanDeRingLunaticc Try some white lightining made by west virginia or tennesse inbred hill billies just be careful some of that is lethal can cause you go blind

  • @WanDeRingLunaticc No, Major Kong was hard core never saw Ivan ride nuclear bomb noo-ke-lur combat toe to toe with the russkies

  • @WanDeRingLunaticc I been to Kaluga, tula, Moscow Leningrad had some home made vodka was still standing tall

  • @WanDeRingLunaticc Greatst bomber pilot in aviation history Major Kong flew the B52D, with his american ingenuity he was able to fly badly damage B52 across the soviet union and nuke the soviet ICBM site

  • @WanDeRingLunaticc WRONG AGAIN, Have you tried Gray Goose? mixed with cranberry juice excellant for cleaning out your urethra

  • @WanDeRingLunaticc Iam worried about you I think you are back to drinking to much cheap russian vodka. The Tu160 is another soviet copy of western aircraft the B1 bomber. The tu160 cannot be classified as true bomber it is stand off missile carrier it carries no bombs just missiles. US can take some old B747 and build same aircraft to carry missiles will have better built aircraft with longer range. Sorry comrade you are wrong just be glad stalin is dead

  • @jers59 B52 has the record for flying the longest flight unrefueled in 1962 12.532 miles, record for longest bombing mission in history, 40 hours, there is only about 16 TU160 and I would say about 6 to 8 of them cannot fly, Tu160 because of its small numbers incapable of massive carpet bombing, no arc light strikes for tu160 or operation chrome dome when 12 B52,s were stationed outside of soviet union 24 hours a day 7 days a week ready for nuclear combat toe to toe with the russkies

  • @WanDeRingLunaticc I just know you are not comparing a400m disaster to one of top 5 greatest aircraft ever the C130, first every foreign buyer have dropped out of buying a400m except one and are buying C130J example canada, chile, Seconda400m is over weight under powered and cannot carry the load it was designed to carry, Third its been under development since 1989

  • @WanDeRingLunaticc Tu160 does not out perfmorm the B52 in anything first tu160 has never seen combat they only built about dozen of soviet cavemen rubbish, the only reason the russians can build bomber is because in 1946 they made poor illegal copy of the B29 called the TU4. When TU160 is in combat has flown the longest bomber mission in history then talk the tu160 junk pile does not even make top 10 of any bomber list.

  • Looks better than the Dreamliner!

  • @robinhood48 Reminds me of aviations greatest disaster the a400m they can only run the engines never leave the ground They tried to build better C130 which is 50 year + old aircraft design and failed big time. By the way over 800 orders for B787 how many orders for A380? Even chile, south africa, canada have dropped out of a400m disaster and will buy the best, C130J or C17

  • @jers59

Darling. A 400 M had take off in Berlin, has the strongest engines ever built into a plane.

News for you Boing just stopped test flights due to bad material and wrong installations, seems this crap will never fly.

  • @robinhood48 strongest engines? The engines are disaster this crap the a400m cannot even carry the load it was designed to carry originally. And B787 goes into service 2011 The a400M first designed in 1989 21+ years they built the Empire State building in 1year they went to the moon in 8 years. There is reason air bus wants to drop this loser its financial and aviation disaster. Buy the best C130J and C17

  • @jers59

    Dreamliner.

They dream to build a liner like the Airbus 350.

    Dream Liner.

  • @robinhood48 The only people who dream to build airliner like a350 are ex kamikaze pilots or people with suicidal tendincies. Ask the passengers who flew Air France airbus from Barazil last year, Oh you cannot they kissed the ocean surface at about 400MPH. A400m, over weight, under powered, unable to carry infantry fighting vehicle. C17, C5 can carry main battle tank . only export customer for a400m malaysia for grand total of 4 soon to be 0

  • @jers59

You still live in the past.

Time for you to arrive in present time.

  • @robinhood48 I live now and in future as I said you cannot build better then perfection the B52 was aviations greatest bomber and still is today, DC3 greatest passenger and transport aircraft ever first flew 1935 and over 1000 still in service. SR71 the fastest aircraft ever and highest flown

  • @jers59

Over 50 B 52 were shot down over Vietnam. What do you think would happen today with this old fashioned crap?

  • @robinhood48 Agasin you are wrong Can you get anything right? North Vietnam had the most heavily defended territory by AA both missile and guns in history and it was the mighty B52 aviations greatest bomber by far that bombed the North Vietnamese back to the peace treaty in 1972 christmas bombing no other bomber was capable of arc light strikes and carpet bombing.

  • @robinhood48 50 shot down another mistake or lie by you. Try only 15 shot down in almost 8 years of fighting. B52,s hold almost every bomber record from flying the longest unrefueled flight 12.532 miles, longest bomber mission 40 hours, the only jet bomber to shoot down another jet aircraft in combat (2) heaviest bomb load 70.000LBS

  • @robinhood48 Darling 4 or 5 B787 are flying today 1 will be at 2010 Famborough air show in UK unlike the non flying disaster the a400m that cannot airlift AFV is over weight and lost every foreign custo,er except 1. canada will now buy C130J and C17. Reminds me of tsunami 2004 when euro mainland countries (germany, france, italy, spain) unable to even ship box of kotex or toilet paper because they have no air or sealift, have to rent old ukranian cargo planes

  • Very,very nice......(NBoy)

Remember watching them doing touch and goes at Marham, many years ago.

We have nothing now......and by the time they are finished cutting our forces, the only place you will see RAF aircraft are in places like Elvington.

  • Are they still used?

  • @DrGull1888 No.......they were last used as tankers.

Before that they carried our Nuclear deterent.

  • @NAIAD49 Ah, thanks.
