Like someone said, there are no such things as "side-effects." That's a marketing fast-talk to give the illusion they are tangential, or trivial. There are only *effects*. Most "meds" that say they acts on X condition, and have a list of 20 "side-effects," have in reality 21 possible *effects* on the person, with some probability that the (maybe) beneficial one will be the more prominent. No that would be Xanax. and i take paxil now instead of zombieloft. Paxil is much better at helping me thru my panic disorder,depression recovery. Yes paxil causes emotional blunting like most SSRI's but it is helping a tad. Xanax provides great instant relief though and xanax saved my life.

i was coming home on the bus one day and i saw a women laying in the rode. later i found out it was my friends older sister who was on anti deppressants, who never had any thoughts of suicide before. she tried killing herself by jumping into the highway.

If you're still having trouble with depression, I highly recommend Omega 3 fatty acid supplements (aka. fish oil). They have been shown to be as effective as modern anti-depressants, and of-course, without the negative side effects.

I couldn't sleep because of the "jolts" they described in the video, like my brain was being electricuted and my muscles would spasm. I called my parents that night (im 26) and begged them crying to stay on the phone with me all night because I was so scared. I have never been like this and my parents had wanted to buy me a flight home immediately because of they way I was talking. I went to emerg at 5am and until now did not suspect the ssri.
I never researched these drugs at all before my doctor gave me a "trial pack". I went to a walk-in clinic and was given cipralex and walked out in less than a half hour. I was on them for only a month and never made the connection until now. When I stopped them I felt like I was a not a part of my own body, like everything about my life and in this world caused me so much anxiety that I couldn't stand to be with myself.
people who "need" antidepressants need to examine their lives to see what the root of their "depression" is. Depression often has roots in spritual death for which there is only one answer....a new life in Christ. At other times "depressions" is a "diagnosis" some quack Doctor made up to sell his drugs because the doctor himself has been decieved by the pharmaceutical companies to hand out these drugs.
& Sometiimes people just need to be high, and taking SSRI's is just another way to get high.
I think its a matter of trial and error with medication, GPs should really closely watch people who are taking antidepressants. I went through the same thing, I was given drugs (but I was suicidal before hand) and despite telling my GP that I was going to kill myself she still gave me medicine which I then, obviously, used to try and overdose. Mental illnesses are so hard to treat:/
As far as taking the drugs in general, do people see their therapist or psychologist on a regular basis? The drugs don't cure, they are suppose to help balance you. It takes about a month or two to get in your system. If you just take the drugs thinking they are going to make everything better, THINK AGAIN. You need to talk to someone about your problems to help deal with them better. This could take months to years...finding the right drug for adults not children is trial and error.

I think a lot of the problem is the pharmaceutical industry is trying to make a drug that makes people happy without making them truly happy. Zyban got a black box warning for suicide, hostility and depression in June 2009. The same chemical (buproprion) marketed as an antidepressant (Wellbutrin) only had black box for suicide.

In some cases, I would wake up and still think I was dreaming. This drug messed with my mind like I never thought was possible. Many of these school shooters had been on the drugs for a long time and were coming off of them experiencing withdrawal. Google anti depressants and school shootings and learn.

The reason these drugs do such damage is the same reason they seem to work at the beginning... people who are depressed have very low levels of serotonin (which is an extremely effective buffer against stress) among other things. My parents thought I needed it. At the time Prozac was a new drug when I was 12. They honestly thought my temper tantrums could be fixed with Prozac. Took it and things got really bad. My parents to this day always tell me how much they are sorry and that they love me. Like most people I have my bad moments but that doesn't mean I need antidepressants it just means I'm having a bad day.
It is ironic that the intention of these drugs was to make us more docile and easily controllable and yet it has led to uncontrollable violence that spares NO ONE. Not even the corporate slugs that invent and sell them.
Prozac made me psychotic and now i suffer from Substance-Induced Mood Disorder...many get misdiagnosed as BiPolar for this exact reason so the Doctors Pharma Comps and Therapists won't get sued. I attempted suicide last year and survived. I now have to take 4 medications to compisate the brain damage from Prozac. I'm now planning on another suicide attempt because I cannot recover...Euthenasia should be allowed for us victims.

Think you are wrong - as in everything in life sometimes to save your family or others if you need to take your own life it isn't the cowards way out - you may not want to die but see it as the only way to save others - killing yourself when you want to live is not cowardly - wrongly thought maybe - but to actually do it takes a strength most will never know.
Maybe some are. But your one-size-fits all philosopy doesn't apply to everyone. Some times the person just doesn't know or realize that they have options. That they can choose another path and that take also take courage.

I took antidepressants and they were nothing short of terrifying.I felt very agitated,extreme anxiety,and feelings of losing controll and harming people.Panic attacks all the time.I lost feeling in my etremities while on Zoloft.These drugs are just to make money.They don't help.Don't take them unless you want to know hell.

If you're still having trouble with depression, I highly recommend Omega 3 fatty acid supplements (aka. fish oil). They have been shown to be as effective as modern anti-depressants, and of-course, without the negative side effects.

I couldn't sleep because of the "jolts" they described in the video, like my brain was being electricuted and my muscles would spasm. I called my parents that night (im 26) and begged them crying to stay on the phone with me all night because I was so scared. I have never been like this and my parents had wanted to buy me a flight home immediately because of they way I was talking. I went to emerg at 5am and until now did not suspect the ssri.

I never researched these drugs at all before my doctor gave me a "trial pack". I went to a walk-in clinic and was given cipralex and walked out in less than a half hour. I was on them for only a month and never made the connection until now. When I stopped them I felt like I was a not a part of my own body, like everything about my life and in this world caused me so much anxiety that I couldn't stand to be with myself.

people who "need" antidepressants need to examine their lives to see what the root of their "depression" is. Depression often has roots in spritual death for which there is only one answer....a new life in Christ. At other times "depressions" is a "diagnosis" some quack Doctor made up to sell his drugs because the doctor himself has been decieved by the pharmaceutical companies to hand out these drugs.

I think its a matter of trial and error with medication, GPs should really closely watch people who are taking antidepressants. I went through the same thing, I was given drugs (but I was suicidal before hand) and despite telling my GP that I was going to kill myself she still gave me medicine which I then, obviously, used to try and overdose. Mental illnesses are so hard to treat:/

As far as taking the drugs in general, do people see their therapist or psychologist on a regular basis? The drugs don't cure, they are suppose to help balance you. It takes about a month or two to get in your system. If you just take the drugs thinking they are going to make everything better, THINK AGAIN. You need to talk to someone about your problems to help deal with them better. This could take months to years...finding the right drug for adults not children is trial and error.

I think a lot of the problem is the pharmaceutical industry is trying to make a drug that makes people happy without making them truly happy. If there was a drug that could make you feel happy, there would be no problem. Infact, there is, mdma or cannabis in certain doses does that. Zyban got a black box warning for suicide, hostility and depression in June 2009. The same chemical (buproprion) marketed as an antidepressant (Wellbutrin) only had black box for suicide.

In some cases, I would wake up and still think I was dreaming. This drug messed with my mind like I never thought was possible. Many of these school shooters had been on the drugs for a long time and were coming off of them experiencing withdrawal. Google anti depressants and school shootings and learn.

This is my personal opinion ONLY. I take an antidepressant and I dealt with depression for over a decade before I went on it. I am very grateful that I have found help for my depression because it was nothing short of a living hell. I think that the important thing to realize is that antidepressants are NOT candy! If you are on one, you NEED to be monitored closely by a physician. If you go off of it, you NEED to do it with the assistance of a professional. They have helped a lot of ppl.

The reason these drugs do such damage is the same reason they seem to work at the beginning... people who are depressed have very low levels of serotonin (which is an extremely effective buffer against stress) among other things. The body doesn't want to waste it all when there's not much, so it releases it slowly.
These drugs force the body to fire it off like the Fourth of July, so at the beginning you feel good. What happens when it runs out, though?

My parents thought I needed it. At the time Prozac was a new drug when I was 12. They honestly thought my temper tantrums could be fixed with Prozac. Took it and things got really bad. My parents to this day always tell me how much they are sorry and that they love me. Like most people I have my bad moments but that doesn't mean I need antidepressants it just means I'm having a bad day.

Prozac made me psychotic and now i suffer from Substance-Induced Mood Disorder...many get misdiagnosed as BiPolar for this exact reason so the Doctors Pharma Comps and Therapists won't get sued. No i never mix my weed with anything else, cuz i have some fucked up organs and shit like dat.....and i know weed aint gna hurt me, but i dont take that risk with other shit....by the way, the reason y my organs are so fucked up is becuz i used to take the antidepressants that are on this video...lol, i never take pills now...lol

Think you are wrong - as in everything in life sometimes to save your family or others if you need to take your own life it isn't the cowards way out - you may not want to die but see it as the only way to save others - killing yourself when you want to live is not cowardly - wrongly thought maybe - but to actually do it takes a strength most will never know.
