Rather see U.S. fighter jets "wasting" jet fuel during an airshow than dumbass cholos wasting gas cruising up & down the main drag every night in their fugly low rider pieces of shit.
What a skilled pilot not to break the sound barrier. I mean really he is flying at the edge of the speed of sound. This really shows how far we've come since man first flew. Look at how much control they have over their aircraft.
@TTKA200602 I know I F'n love the sounds in real life its so awesome. The jets are so frikkin loud!!! especially when they fly over your head, there so loud that it hurts your ears I love it!!! lol
@jacked080 the f 15 would come on top in a 2a why??because they both have the same missles f 18f has a better radar range but they can still shoot both missles at the same time so it is basically who can dodge a missle.in a dogfight the f 15 can can outturn a f 18 at any altitude.though the super hornet has a hmd so there both good but the f 15 has a better advatage.spoken to real pilots.
@oTECHNETIUMo F-15C has a better radar than the Hornet. Look it up. The F-15 has the APG-63(V)3 AESA radar. It's even better than the current radar in the raptor. The hornet can outurn the F-15, but, it can't sustain the turn for as long as the F-15 can.
@oTECHNETIUMo The F-18E/F Super Hornet can out turn the F-15C Eagle, but it can't sustain the turn like the F-15C can. However, the F-15C has a much better radar, the APG-63(V)3, which has a longer range and tracking ability than even the F-22's current radar.
@F15pilots ? what makes you think the F/A-18E/F can out turn the F-15? The F-15 can sustain a 9 G turn, the F/A-18E/F can sustain a 8 G turn? Maybe at slow speeds.
@eagleflame2000 The F-18 can sustain 34 degrees of AoA in a turn, the F-15, though an awesome aircraft, is restricted to 24 degrees AoA due to it's airframe and would have difficulty in a dogfight against the Hornet. In a dogfight, whoever can put their nose on the target the fastest will be the victor. "G" is the measure of weight per unit of mass, and doesn't always describe how tight an aircraft can turn.
@F15pilots AoA, quite simply, is the difference in degrees between the angle of the lifting surface of an aircraft compared to the oncoming flow of air. The farther an aircraft can put it's nose ahead of it's flight path, the more likely that aircraft will emerge victorious in a dogfight. The Eagle is an excellent fighter, but the Eagle can be much more successful as long as our airspeed is somewhere in between 390-480 KIAS.
@hawkplaya94 We don't need more than what we have, it already has a 6:1 ratio against anything else in the air. And it doesn't seem that the Taliban is sending up their stealth fighters to challenge the F-22's right now.
@YZach when has the us ever created a fighter plane for the current war of the day.we have always built fighters for the wars of tomarrow and thats why we win.
@oTECHNETIUMo F15 was rushed to counter the MiG25. F86 Sabre was created to counter the MiG17. They were always behind the russians and afraid of the technology.
@supramanz the f 15 was not only created to counter the fxbat but to counter threats for decades to come and we both know its still dominating for nearly 40 years hahah for the f 86 that may be one of the only ones besides the prop planes.so expect the f 22 to dominate for abother 30 to 40 years.
F/A-18 was the replacement for the Navy F-14 Tomcat (and is also used by the Marines). F-15 is an Air Force unit and they are being replaced slowly by F-35's. Sadly, the F-22 program was canceled. Luckily there are some in service though, so we can appreciate them for a while =)
Can anybody explain to me why they replace the F15 for the F18 for what I can see is the payload of the F18 less than the F15 the speed of an F18 is lower than an F15 and the altitude is lower than a F15 even the price is mutch higher so WHY will men replace them?????
I wouldn't bet against an F-15 in an air to air fight. It has a perfect record of like 107-0 going back since it started flying. The only thing that routinely has beat it is an F-22 in exercises.
@miniqueen890 What nose piece are you talking about? And it's bigger not because of the age of the plane, it's a two-seater so obviously it's going to be a bit bigger.
@miniqueen890 I stand corrected "The Super Hornet is informally referred to as the "Rhino" to distinguish it from earlier model "legacy" Hornets and prevents confusion in radio calls. This aids safe flight operations, since the catapult and arresting systems must be set differently for the heavier Super Hornet. The "Rhino" nickname was earlier used by the F-4 Phantom II, retired from the fleet in 1987."
We all learn something new everyday. Sorry for my ignorance.
I was lucky enough to get to see the space shuttle land once at Edwards Air Force Base. It broke the sound barrier a few times. It is most def. a once in a life time experience. Glad to know someone else has had that chance.
Wrong. breaking the sound barrier means FASTER than sound. Which means, if the F-18 were breaking the sound barrier, you would not be able to hear the jet until AFTER it passes. But, you can clearly hear it before it passes, which means its going slower than the speed of sound. Simple, eh?
You're thinking of the "Mach cone" shock wave. When an aircraft goes transonic — meaning it's *approaching* the speed of sound; about Mach .8 or 610 mph at sea level — air pressure increases at the wings' leading edges, then drops suddenly as it passes over the wings. Basic physics tells us that air becomes hotter as its pressure increases. The sudden cooling as the pressure decreases (rarefies) creates the moisture called the "shock collar."
no. It's the engine that is really really hot and passing through cold air(moisture) then it instantly evaporates the moisture and turns it into the cone shaped gas
I have yet to hear another fighter jet make that sound. So far, it's only the F18 Super Hornet that I have heard producing such an amazingly spectacular alien sounding howl.
I take it you havent heard the f-22, while waiting for my cargo in tallahassee they will do high speed low passes Its such a distinct sound I can be in the snooze room at the fbo and it will wake me and I know instantly its the raptor
amazing how just a few thousand years ago, we had just discovered the wheel...now we can make something that weighs quite a few tons surpass the speed of sound by three times
That cone is a photographers dream shot!

Dan31387 1 year ago
@Dan31387 Because the F-18 E/Fs are known as 'RHINO'
it's bigger than the older Hornets, and a device it has on it's nose is almost like a horn look you'd see on a Rhinos had. The guy's correct though.
