Its just another way to force government control in the name of "efficiency". It isn't the buildings that are energy hogs, it's the spoiled fat lazy americans inside. They want to plow you into debt building in ways that have more cost than savings and trick you into thinking "don't worry your buildings will save energy, you don't have to". USGBC and LEED are communist arms of big banks that want to trick you into deeper debt, and bank/govt control. You can shut your breakers off, walk or talk?
besides being aesthetically functional and structurally sound, an ideal building should be environment friendly... i appreciate how these geniuses are trying to make innovations with regards to the building's sustainability by promoting green architecture! BRAVO!
one of the best ways to improve the enviormental sensitivity of economy is to demand more longer living and better quality products. that whuld be exelent step forward, and meaby the biggest.

I am interested in creating affordable green homes. right now it is too expensive for average people although there are sustainable methods for cost-effective building that are difficult to be approved by most inspectors. Also there are hundreds of thousands of cookie-cutter houses that need a green retrofit...this is the real challenge.
You're definately in agood economy to do so. W/ house values at all time lows, you should be able to score an older house or an open area of land at a great discount price. Also, check out the earthship & a few similar related companies out there for ideas of natural & recyclable building materials. Go ahead & shoot me an email so I can give you the run-down.
Mmm so they finally decided to finish building the Museum in San Fransico? About time, Before they tore it down, I used to love going there like...a lot when I was a kid.
More bullschite brought to you by the Globalist Carbon Tax Fraud. To think that little "we" can have an effect on the entire planet by blowing our noses in "green" napkins is asinine. Between the planet itself, THE SUN and the assholes that are Irradiating it with Depleted Uranium Projectiles spells only one thing and that is:
"The difference between what IS going on and what we are BEING TOLD is going on is enormous."
The ELITISTS want to make sure we are deep in the mire being blamed for everything so that they can rake us over the coals again and impose their one world goverment. We aren't falling for it anymore.
Buildings are responsible for roughly 30% of all greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. This is changing, though, through the sustainability movement. Sustainability means meeting our own needs today without compromising the capacity for future generations to meet their's. Green architecture is poised to make the most significant contributions to energy reduction and efficiency. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It is the rating system used to gauge efficiency.
I share those sentiments, but what I've been realizing lately is that those millions of people don't do anything anyway, just think of them as irrelevant to the equation.Fro those of us who care, we need to stop being cynical and start getting involved in LOCAL government. Seriously , just start showing up to zoning or planning board meeting in your area and be patient and start learning and working with people. You will realize as I did that most decisions of these sort are made by middle-aged
white people that are concerned more about aesthetics than anything else! That is an over-simplification, but if we start showing up and getting like minded friends and start having reasonable discussions we can make differences in our respective cities or towns.
Recommended book: "Getting to Yes" by Fisher and Ury
p.s. I have nothing against white people! I am white, but I am against exclusion from decisions by everybody other than middle-aged white people, and alot of us frankly are excluding ourselves, so we cant complain if we dont get involved!
it should be a part of building codes..but using high expensive technology to make uer structure sustainable is not a good approch...ecological design approch is also essential..
I echo the previous comments! For a really interesting green roof and fascinating buildings, Google 'Bad Blumau Spa' and go to the Englis language site, or the German for interior shots.
Rome wasn't built in one day, so don't lose hope. It's inevitable that sustainable building will pave the way to the future, it's just a matter of time.
I'm looking forward to the day when this is no longer a small movement, but simply part of the building code because it's more efficient and makes more sense in terms of resources.
it is sooooo sad that this video has been so far viewed only by only 130 people and there are many dumb videos that have been viewed by millions of people!

*ATTENTION CITIZENS* Their claims of green are unsubstantiated lies! LEED is rejected by true green builders.

though the question is, will it come to late to help the environment? Or will it be beyond saving? Maybe by then, we won't have the need. who knows?
