  • this is a real sex pistols original

  • about sid

  • I love this video. Steve and Paul really rocked. Too bad they got rid of Matlock. They were really great together.

  • I prefer the version on the Great Rock n Roll Swindle which as others said is sung by Paul Cook (and not just because as a singer and a drummer I like it when someone does both). I didn't even realise there was another version till "Kiss This" came out....and even then I thought it was an outake until I bought a second hand copy of the single on Ebay!

  • one of the best songs i ever heard. and the guitar solo is beast!!

  • Arry po..ah!!

  • steve and paul were the real sex pistols, sid and johnny were just for show

  • @AlekWheeler now that was about as silly as u get. paul and steve were good. but john wrote the lyrics. plus paul and steve did basically nothing after the pistols minus the professionals. though steve did have a great cd in 87 called no mercy. he ruined that though by making a hair metal cd soon after called fire and gasoline. boy that was horrible.

  • @AlekWheeler plus, as far as sid, well the smack got him. but go listen to a one off show by the vicious white kids. which included glen matlock. this was after the pistols. even glen admitted that sid was amazing. try and find the interview with glen and rat scabies.

  • fantastik!!

  • @Gyphia matlock wrote the majority of the music plus all of pretty vacant (except one verse ) they were mad to sack him sid played/contributed sod all

  • @Konigtiger1945 i never had a leather jacket `back in the day` ,i bought clothes from charity shops and wrote lyrics on cheap T-shirts .sorry no party as i have to get up at 4.30 am to go to work

  • how great would it be if steve and paul played together again doing this and the professionals stuff

  • it's about steve, he was on heroin

  • Yes, this song`s about Sid Vicious. The lyrics to the chorus were originally, "oh Sidney, you`ve really gone and done it now."

  • @ManFromMelbourne i think later they all agreed it was about all of them +malcolm `ever had the feeling you`ve been cheated` as rotten said they cheated themselves (mind you they never should have sacked matlock)

  • To good ♥

  • Steve Jones is the ultimate rock and roll guitarist.

  • I havent seen this love it ...

  • but ain't Cookie a drummer? and still doin the business with Edwyn Collins...

  • beats PIL ~ oh we'll

  • What is Steve saying to Paul at 2:30 ? :D Watched this hundred times and still don't know.

  • @SechimB Sounds to me as if he just says "Bollocks"

  • @SechimB Sounds to me as if he just says "Bollocks"

  • this is actually pretty fuckin good

  • Thanx for the post. Can't believe the comments: "Jones&Cook didn't look the part in the Pistols"? They're the Sex Pistols! Lol! "It's not a band effort hence it's not the Sex Pistols"? This record came out as Sex Pistols... Jones did most of the bass on records as on here & he sings, instead of Rotten, so what? Larry Nightingale, Jones&Cook's old friend, came up with Did You No Wrong's riff... so it's not a Sex Pistols record? Either these are 10-year-olds or the world's really getting dumber

  • @kidcalabria

By the way, that should have been Wally Nightingale... credit where credit's due, and all that...

  • @kidcalabria *Wally Nightingale..

  • @MCRXoXoIeroWay

Actually, I corrected myself in a comment just after the first one... but thanks for pointing it out

  • drummer looks like Bon Jovi..Steve looks like Richard Jobson from the Skids..Always thought these 2 never quite looked the part in the Pistols..

  • @SpeedTriple59 You dirty sod, You dirty old man, you dirty bastard , you dirty fucker . What a fuckin rotter

  • @kingofpunk1977 Shit. Nothing , a rude word. Next question ? Shit.

  • @SpeedTriple59 think you meant bon jovi looks like drummer(paul cook)

  • Paul's version is better. He has said when he was singing, it was directed at Steve, who was just beginning to dabble in opiates at he time.

  • MAN THEIR SO YOUNG HERE,KIDS.

  • Nice raw sound, keeps it real and it stands the test of time.

  • Tailspunk, each artist is named individually because this is not a band effort therefore it is not the sex pistols

  • this is so cool, this used to be called a Sex Pistols Song, but it isn't. It a solo-artist song. please stop misclassifying it please. anything after Rotten left is not the Sex Pistols.

  • @RushNLV It's the sex pistols.

  • @TailsPunk no it is not. Rotten Actually won the name of the sex pistols back from Mclaren so now it's theirs again senor.

  • @RushNLV It's on the sex pistols jubilee...

  • @RushNLV oh, BTW I'm not a bloke...

  • check out 1:36 it shows they good mates.....They have been since they were kids and still are.....They had that wall of sound that wont be matched..

  • They lyrics refer to the battle waterloo, special attention is paid to the prussian field marshal, if you listen careful. There is also a bit in there about 9/11 and the credit scandal.

  • paul cook- 1:58-2:07 !!! fucking awesome!!! ;)

  • Steve Jones..................Guitar Hero

  • @topshowgroom Guitar Hero ? Think you're on the wrong video, you twat

  • @sclapione Steve actually coined the phrase Guitar Hero, he wrote it on his Fender Twin on the grill while in The Sex Pistols, it's too bad he diden't make any money off it lol

  • Didn't knew this song, but I love it! Steve even has a good singing voice!

  • they look very 80's but i love this song from the great rock 'n roll swindle..

  • Happy Birthday Steve Jones!

  • quote time :). Paul: " silly thing was a thing steve an I put together... origonaly called silly cunt it was about Sid or could have been about malcom. Everyone. It delt with the whole pistols fracas after we broke up"

    Paul Cook's words not mine

  • Funny, Steve contributed at least one song ("Mercy") to the Miami Vice soundtrack too. Maybe they hooked him up with Don Johnson's jacket as payment.

  • Wow jones is good at guitar but no one can't top randy rhoads

  • Brings back memories, goes back to my teenage years. Such great stuff around. Love the old school punk. Bring back the seventies!

  • Give us back the Professionals!

  • I thought Paul Cook's version was better. Maybe because that's the one I'm familiar with. Whatever the case, Steve and Paul were a great team. Solid and ROCKING. Steve did play all the bass on "Bollocks" anyhow. As for what this song's about, I don't think anybody knows for sure.

  • @Gyphia it bacially was matlock who wrote everything except like belsen and this song and a few more

  • oooooooohy you silly thing!!!!!!!!!

you really gone and done it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's very cool!awesome

  • steve jones is a legend

  • hahaha exaggerated

  • I'ts about Steve NOT about Sid. Paul wrote it and he wasn't very good friends with Sid.

  • @TailsPunk I thought it was about Lydon for leaving the pistols

  • @TailsPunk I thought it was about Lydon for leaving the pistols

  • @scotsmaninusa Paul wrote becouse Steve was getting into a drugs problem.

  • in memory of malcom f changing music in the uk f the better...rip

  • classic!

  • mullets.

  • more likely to have been about sid if this song was aimed at anyone in the band at all

  • It may have been about Steve - Paul sang on the Swindle version - or it could have been about Sid.

  • @falica77 I think it's an Eddie Cockran song from the 50's.

  • I think you're right - about the lyrics referring to Sidney, I mean.

I'm pretty sure that I heard Paul/Steve explaining that they had written the song with Sid in mind, and even so, I'm pretty sure that you could easily attach the lyrics to Sid, even if they aren't about him! Haha. (:

  • i heard that the title of the song, originally was called "silly cunt"...but they had to change it...and it was about sid vicious...but you hear alot;)

  • @CerebralCrisis It's about Steve. Paul wrote.

  • @falica77 it was about malcom/ sid

  • @falica77 ive read in books that it is indeed about steve

  • Awesome Pistols track...and Steve in leather - hell YESSSSSS.....but what's with the miami vice look?!

  • The new romantics were trying to ruin music for everyone.

  • @tourneenoir Jones usually straightens his hair.

  • @tourneenoir Im guessing this was made in the 80's. So that would explain it.

  • Comment removed

  • @estimaze I have no idea what I meant with that comment...hahahah

  • Steve Jones guitar sound is unique and cant be mistaken for anyone else...Steve Jones was the sex pistols !!

  • One of the best Sex Pistols songs.

  • steve jones looks like fred norris from the stern show

  • Not many people give Jones credit....he is one of the more solid guitarists out there.

Musically he was the Sex Pistols. Every Pistol song was Jones and Lydon.

  • waaaaa 0:52 XDD Great!

  • at 1:36 - 1:38 steve laughs like lou!!!

  • at 0:52 steve has scary eyes!!!

  • This song is awesome! I prefer this version when Steve sings, Paul doesn't sing that well actually. What I've read, this song is mainly about Sid, but could at the same time be about Malcolm as well. According to Steve.

  • yes. steve sings good on his solo stuff. its fine

  • oh yeah and there mistakes they made (drugs) wich were probably mostly malcomes fault, idea stealing bastard

  • wished they had the balls to record it as silly cunt. it's a borderline punk tune and with the rod stewart drag (gear), cunt would have worked perfectly for the Great Rock n Roll Swindle theme.

  • This song is about Malcom, that is why it was originally meant to be called Silly Cunt, because Malcom is and always will be a silly cunt.

  • yeah though it was actualy about the band members as well as malcome syeve, john, paul but they mostly ment it to that fag malcom

they guys never realy wanted to split an steve jones always regrated staying with malcome instead of listening to rotten

  • This was written about Jonesy because of his heroin problems, not something he realised until years later.

  • this was gonna be called "silly cunt" but matlock was too scared

  • Now then now then now then, then now..... grow up the fucking pair of you!

Who the fuck cares who it is, just listen to it.

  • @edyrn111 thats right jimmy you tell them lol

  • Great!

  • jesus this is bad the totally ruined it no Malcolm maclaren ruined it (I know i spelled that wrong)

  • Its not that bad, imagine if Lydon did the vocals on it. It would of done it justice.

  • Bullshit. It's just the sound quality of the grab. It also features on 'the great rock n' roll swindle' and was either about john lydon or john ritchie.

  • The guitar and drums sound like a pistol song. Are you deaf?? Go listen to seventeen Lydon still sang on it even though he didn't write it and didn't like it. Its about Lydon thats baltanly obvious. I know where the song comes from I don't need the history lesson little man!

  • What are you talking about. It was written about either of them because the lyrics differ on the great rock n' roll swindle "one of these days ya gonna die and people will say oh my oh my". Maybe you need to read your history books a bit hard brain dead loser.

  • I never said that it wasn't about sid, you just thought that 'cos I didn't put sid in on my last comment. Go away and grow a brain! you haven't got a leg to stand on.....!

  • You said in your last comment that it was about lydon and it was blatantly obvious. So you're wrong and you have no brain.

  • I didn't, you said it was about sid and john, I knew that anyway .I was being rhetorical in my answer by stating the obvious to what your where saying. Don't try and repharse my thinking. The bottom lie is that the guitar and drums sound like a pistol song. Are you deaf is what I asked and you could not answer my question. So that made you take a cheap shot. Well, not on my time cabbage!

  • Why wouldn't it sound like a pistols song? You said Johnny Rotten should have sung it and that would have ruined the overall tone of it.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeh and Lydon wouldn't give it more justice you drug addled fucking idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • its about steve jones.that who paul was refering to because of jones drug problem at the time

  • are u on the crack?

  • I agree with you kat but its not so much the song thats that bad but they ruined it and they still called themselves the sex pistols this guy didn't who ever made this vid but they were and they became everything the sex pistols went against

  • Yeh you would know, being crowned king of idiots.

  • Great song, I've never seen this footage before. It's amazing to ses it for the first time I thought I'd seen all Pistols related videos.

  • just gone back 30 years to that spaz geek kid jumping up and down at the 'chant' at middlecroft! amazing...

  • steve comes up with some outstanding rock riffs

  • fucking great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yeah this song is special. i dont know why but i equate it with cocaine and that whole tacky tawdry 1970s scene. it's not really a punk tune. it's a rock n roll tune. but it has a great guitar riff. and Paul Cook, well he can play the drums quite well can't he.

  • But the drum roll is cool anyway, dont'cha agree? Not something like Topper Headon's drumming, but really cool.

  • Best Song Ever!!

  • like you?

  • steve and paul are my heroes!!!!!

  • For those who may not know or even care, . .the Pistols (as well as many artists around the world) print different versions of songs/albums to sell to their target audiences. This is just basic marketing.

  • just like how sid went on to take the name sex pistols when he was a uhh "singer"

  • Exactly. And how Travis Meeks kept the name of his band for a while, . .when the rest of the members created the band "Carbon Copy." What was the name of that band? Something about "Soul" something I think.

  • "Days of the New" is the band I am talking about. What gets me is those bands where all of the original members who formed the bands and wrote their biggest hits have left the band, . .and new guys are selling records with the bands name. Oh the list goes on and on about this subject.

  • shades of ian hunter.

  • Good ear...yes very Ian Hunter!

  • Classic Cook and Jones!

  • ecco i due fighetti dei sex pistols.

da soli fanno merda. e jones era pure tossico

  • I know the swindle version, which was a cook vocal, but never seen/heard this, very good. From the looks of it, it was a bit later, 'cuz Steve's hair's grown out. Also like the boys work w/ Joan Jett, and then the Professionals.

  • Yeah, . .I was thinking the same thing. The version on Flogging a Dead Horse is a bit different. I always thought that was the only version.

  • the version on their is paul cook singing,i like steves version better plus he changes the lines

  • No, . .pretty sure it was Steve. Paul had a messed up voice. Steve always sounded more rock and roll than punk. You know Steve did some solo stuff, . too, . right?

  • no...it was paul, read the liner notes, look it up its a fact..im a die hard pistol and jones fan...and yes i have tons of bootlegs of steves post pistols career.

  • Then why are you asking me a stupid question if you already know the answer. I was 19 years old in England where I purchased the cassette tape. Then an American stole it when I came to America with it.

  • what the fuck are you talking about? i dident ask any fucking questions, you did...and good im glad he stole it because anyone that dumb whos thinking their getting asked questions when there not deserve to have their shit stolen

  • Now see, . .that's why you have been blocked from my channel. asshole.

  • this song isent about anyone its just them trieing to make a new band because the sex pistols broke up so they still wanted to rock

  • Sex pistols ????? there is not sid and johnny ???

  • this was made after the band broke up not before

  • why is my comment -2? i like this song and the sex pistols?

  • Steve and Poul !!!

  • OH you silly cunt, you've really gone and done it now! Original lyrics kick ass XD

  • Glen Matlock > Sid Vicious

  • it's actualy about steve beacause at the time he had some problems with drugs

  • why dont they have a bass player in the vid

  • malcome sold him 2 new york cops R.I.PSID

  • its one of my favorite songs i can pretened

  • love that guitar rifff pistols played tight in my opinion SPEACIALY COOK N JONES AS DRUMS N RYTHM

  • what about steves hair bay city rollers all the way

  • loveloovelove

  • ITS ABOUT SID

  • This song was recorded BEFORE Sid died, even before Nancy died. So It's a little hard to see how this is about Sid.

  • i just did not follow the members mutch just liked the music i thought rock and roll swindle came out after they broke up.thats why the nazi and the bank robber ronnie bigs played with steve and paul in south america

  • Love both versions of this song.Steve sings that fantastic song, lonley boy on the swindle film as well....awsome.

  • There are two versions of this song, one with Paul Cook singing (from the film the Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle) and this one which was the single version with Steve Jones on vocals. The middle 8 has different lyrics. It was recorded well after John Lydon left the Pistols and prefaced Jones and Cook as "The Professionals" whose songs all sound very similar to this.

  • I can't stop listen to this song, it's so awsome :)

  • these are the two that came up with all the arrangements of the songs and the riffs and everything.

its was pretty much them to doing the recording cuz they didnt have a bass player after glen left

  • gold

  • Love that guitar at 2.35 on....

    great tune.... Old school!

  • just lovin da british peopleee!!!

    wii!!
