LOVE this record. The intro just teases you then the melody Explodes! Of course Niecy bring it home. Great job Deniece, Maurice White and Verdine White!
I wasn't done.I said all that 2 say listen 2 these words, the purity in her delivery and the genuine love expressed here,This is ABSOTIVELY TIMELESS!!! as well as STUNNINGLY SUBTLE...That said i would dare 1 of these little girls including Mrs.Z ,and the queen of hip hop soul(right)to attempt something of this caliber and pull it off...survey says,DENIED!!!!!!!! this is actually the 2nd of 2 post,so read the other 1 first, okay
Pay attention kiddies...No bump and grind or whatever else MOST of you are talking about in the NON-MUSIC that is popular on NON RADIO(but that's another tirade).
Honestly i blame the labels and certainly not our babies and WE AS A NATION CAN STOP THEM IF WE REFUSE 2 BUY UNTIL THAT CRAP GOES BACK UNDERGROUND and the STUNNING MUSIC NOW IN THE UNDERGROUND COMES TO THE SURFACE.I was a buyer for a distributor for 5 yrs. & trust me MAJOR LABELS SUCK,Ohhhhh i got stories, but props 2 U2b & <3 2 NIECY
This has to be the prettiest song she did! It takes me way back. I was about 5 or 6 when this song came out. I remember it very well. I spent a lot of time with my grandmother in those days. It reminds me of her & the town I'd spend most of my life in. A lot of the places I remembered are gone including my grandmother whom passed away in 1983. But I sure cherish the places that are still there. And this song will always remind me of that. Thank you so much for the great memory.
OH GOD PLEASE STOP WITH THIS COLOR BULLSHIT!!!!! THIS BLACK AND WHITE SHIT, IM FUCKING SICK OF IT...THIS IS FOR HE LOVE OF THIS LADY AND HER VOICE...NOT THE HYPED UP BULLSHIT OF RACISTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DON'T WORRY ABOUT WHO MARRIED WHO. THIS SIGHT IS ALL ABOUT MUSIC AND DENISE WILLIAMS IS ALL ABOUT MUSIC GOOD MUSIC . 1977 DAMN HOW TIMES FLY I MISS THOSE DAYS . THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES.
For the individuals that have a problem with this lovely singer marrying a white man let me say that maybe if more black men educated themselves instead of trying to be gangsters and thugs women like her wouldnt feel the need to turn to white men. With that said i dont have a problem with interracial marriage but i do realize that some black women turn to white men because of the bad situation many black men are in in the U.S. Black men become real men instead of gangstas and dumb ass thugs!
@M14autoassault I agree, and it ashame that you have to defend anyone for marrying the person that they love. I'm not a prejudice and niether is God, for there is only one race on this planet, and that is the human race, with many different ethnicities. Each of us all come from God and his desire is for us to be happy, regardless if we marry outside our ethnicity, Moses married an Etheopian woman, Numbers 12:1-15 KJV and Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses, and God struck Miriam with leprosy.
@artistsmooth1 It is a shame. I felt i needed to comment on the subject because i had read comments criticizing Deniece for marrying a white man. Its pure ignorance because character, principles, morality, etc etc are the qualities that should determine who one marries, not color of the skin.
This is a great happy song so.. @SwingItLikeMoe lets not bring racism into this ok. What difference does it make what race her husband is? She's not asking you to marry him! lol.
This joint got EWF undertones, especially that clicking instrument, whatever it's called. Wonder if they (EWF) assisted on this. Hey, they assisted the Emotions so.........
starts out like someone trying to contain their love for someone and as the song goes on she literally gushes over her loved one. wish she was singing about me.
This song is on the EXCELLENT compilation CD "Gonna Take a Miracle: The Best of Deniece Williams." (See eBay.) Mine is hiding around here. I might have to buy another CD, in case I can't get the answer to who produced this song. The CD mentioned above also has other songs that U.S. R&B stations didn't want to play as much as "Silly." The CD has "Waiting," "When Love Comes Calling," "I'm So Proud," "Black Butterfly," "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late" (duet w/Johnny Mathis) and, yes ... "Silly."
Maurice White and Jerry Peters produced this album. Anytime I need to find out this type of information I google the artist discography. Hope that helps.
Oh yes, that helps! Thanks! And your point about Google is well taken. It's just that people are helpful within the YouTube community that it actually feels better when I sometimes get the answer here. Thank you again.
After "Free," "Baby, Baby, My Love's All for You" is my FAVORITE song by Niecy. Produced by Maurice White, no? (Please correct me on this, please, please, please, baby, please, as Spike would say.)
Here in atlanta the station kiss 104.1 plays r&b oldies & some top 40 r&b but they don't play this cut by nicey, but they ware out silly like a muther F, they will do free & black butterfly ocassionally
when i hear this song i think about a saturday afternoon in winter and the sky is blue and the wind is blowing and thinking about the person you like ,,, but the person you like do not know it
Tried all ways to get the Songbird album on cd but to my knowledge it only remained on vinyl. The song "Season" just blew me away. Thank you for a great reminder of Neacy.
Wasn't this off her "Songbird" LP?? Wonderful album; my favorite after "This is Niecy" LP! Thanks for posting these songs... brings back a lot of memories!
I listen to this song a lot in my car on my best of Deniece Williams cd. I am a huge fan of hers. I love her voice and her love songs. I really liked her Melody album. If you have My Melody, and You're All That Matters, will you PLEASE make my day and post them.
I listen to this song a lot in my car on my best of Deniece Williams CD. I'm a BIG Deniece Williams fan! I just love her love songs. If you have "My Melody", or "You're all the Matter", PLEASE put it up. Thanx.
