I caught a migratory tarpon in the Florida Keys as well, and that brute was on conventional tackle. I was worn out after the fight. I cannot even imagine how exhausting it had to be for Captain Blair to beat that thing on a fly rod.
there are at least 150 pounders around my boat house the marina throws away old bait and they just wait there and some times when your cutting up fish and throwing them in the canal they come up around right at the dock and if u have some live jack you can catch a big boy

@rcxtreme12 For the big ones I would advise using a 12wt with a large arbor holding at least 250 yards of 30lb backing

@liljohngetsome It looks like a Penn International Fly Reel, most like the 4.B or 4.G model. I can't see the rod but I hope this helps.
