Bass legend Jack Casady of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna worked closely with Epiphone engineers to create his popular Signature bass. Jack put special emphasis on the exclusive JCB-1 low-impedance pickup which is the secret behind the natural bass tone that high-impedance and active pickups cannot obtain. Its ...

@zeroeffects88 yes of course it is. As you can hear it sounds totally different than a Fender. It also plays differently and also balances kinda funny on a strap. You'll have to try for yourself...
i dont hear really any difference to the flatwoods and my dean markley blue steel 45-105. is it easyer to play a black jack with the flats over the round? im always open mind to get the best out of my jc. also why brand is your strings anyways?
I've NEVER been a flatwound type-o'-player (sue me, I grew up in the World Of Rock! ;-) but I want this bass badly and even *I* know it calls for flats... or maybe "Groundrounds"/"Half-Rounds" as a method to get most of the tone of flats but with the feel of rounds. And killer playing & tone in your videos! :D
@scarred2112 thank you! you're too kind! as a matter of fact, this bass ships with roundwounds from the factory, which I also liked. Later I tried flatwounds (I forgot which brand) and I just kept it that way cos they last forever ;)
Yep another guitarist trying to play bass

What's the neck finish like on this? Smooth, sticky?
FriendlyShadow1 1 week ago
@FriendlyShadow1 It's the typical Korean finish.
Not overly sticky, high gloss.
I like it.

@1987rask yes I think it's easier to play cos the sliding is much smoother.
The sound is different, definitely. You lose top end and sustain, yet gain some "thumpiness"

@1987rask sorry I forgot which brand
