  • The small rake like tool I use is almost exactly the same the way it works.. I stab it into the ground at the base of weed and twist it .. I wouldnt mind having a tool like yours but would need a good quality / high torque drill for this .. could be hard on the wrists but I`d like to try one.. some roots snap ,, but the twisting seems to get most roots out .. just dig it in and twist about a bit will get the rest of the roots,..

  • @guahould Good tools should be effective and also fun to use!

  • Very busy keeping up with sales! Ask a real question and I'll try to answer it. See other videos of the Turbo Weed Twister for more info...

  • rofl

  • dont see how this is any good ? yank junk.

  • @artman479 You have eyes and you see not ...

  • dont see how this is any good ?

  • I could have done that much faster by just reaching down there with my hand and pulling them out.. P.S. start the drill befour you get into the weed.

  • @MrCoryjohnson1 By hand you would have not been able to get the roots because they were embedded in very tough impacted gravel and dirt. Your hand job would have torn off the tops and the roots would come back to haunt you. The Turbo Weed Twister is more effective than hand pulling and easier on your back, as well. For tough deep roots, you can rely on the unique Turbo Weed Twister!

  • @raymuser I disagree, if that thing doesn't break them off my hand definalty wouldn't.

  • @MrCoryjohnson1 I challenge you to show me your video?

  • @raymuser Ok Mr. raymuser I am not going to make a video just to prove my point. I'm not that interested in it. However i think you may have misunderstood me. 1. I agree this is a useful tool for an older person who doesn't have the strength or desire to get down on their knees to pull out tough weeds. 2. I (a 28 year old strong male) could do it much faster then you did it in the video. If you still have a problem then i'm sure you can find someone on youtube doing it faster by hand.

  • @raymuser not to mention it's very early spring here in Ontario Canada and it just snowed today so i would be hard pressed to find some to pull to satisfy you.

  • @MrCoryjohnson1 I repeat my challenge: Show me your video!

  • @MrCoryjohnson1 I'd really like to see your speedy hands in action! Can you show off your stuff by video in removing deep rooted plants like Mallow in rocky or clay soil?

  • @raymuser I watched the video again and stand by my orriginal comment. Since you used that tool to grab the plant at THE SURFACE i really don't see how an able boddied person couldn't simply grab the plant at the ground and gently pull back and forth (harder and harder until it came out). If i lived near you i would gladly come and show you but it would seem that were going to have to agree to disagree. Have a wonderful day.

  • That will not keep them away, you need to destroy the roots. A better way would be to put a black polythene under the soil and plant through it. This stop weeds sprouting through.

  • Actually, this tool does remove the entire roots. Very few other tools can do this effectively. Plastic sheets can be helpful, but once holes are made for planting or by accident the weeds usually find a way to get through these holes as well. You may get one season of protection by plastic sheets.

  • we safely burn weeds away

  • That's terrific! As long as it's safe... in SoCal this year burning is not an option!

  • There's a safe time and place for burning weeds ... the Southwest is not a safe place for burning in most circumstances.

  • Err shouldnt you be using the low down gear for max torque?

  • Yes. Use low speed gear for large roots or very tough soil. Use of a side handle on your drill is also a good idea in tough situations.

  • not bad but if u look at the desging compared to some of ther toehrs ots harder to get rocks an fling em were as this ones hooks are a lil doff an although they seem to bo coming off eiasier then some others rocks flying arnets a good idea wen used neer roads or cars etc homes etc

  • Yes, this can be a very dangerous tool if not used carefully. Not a toy. Protective eyewear (safety goggles) recommended. Steel-toe shoes also a good idea. When used correctly, the only things at risk are the plants you aim at.

  • true true true but as u can see in those weeds its hard to see rocks underneath

ime not sayin is a bad product is good

i jsut wouldnt wnaa use it up agains my house or neer a busy road

  • Actually, when we have used this tool in very rocky soil, the rocks we dug up moved only a few inches. This is with our very powerful 3-speed Makita Hammer Drill and the highest speed. You can see how this works on several other YouTube videos of the Turbo Weed Twister vs Buffelgrass weeds in Tucson mountains, and also Turbo Weed Twister vs rocky landscaping in Henderson NV.

  • try a cordless impact driver from Hilti, Dewalt or Makita -much higher torque, no motor burning, and no reactionary torque on your wrist, etc.

  • makita has not discontinued 3-speed transmissions. they have extended their portfolio to also offer light duty 2 speed drills (same old, just fewer plastic gears and lower cost).

anyway, for high torque applications you want to be in gear 1 anyway like ray said. the hammerdrill function is for drilling into masonry units and delivers 0 benefit for weed pulling.

  • please provide model numbers for ANY new LXT drill that has 3 speeds. Latest BHP454, the most heavy duty is 2 speed. I sell tools my friend, trust me, I know.

  • PS: and there is absolutely no reason for it to be in hammerdrill mode, the anvil won't even engage unless you press the end into the ground.

  • In tough soil, the hammerdrill mode helps to loosen up the soil to remove the entire root. For example, you can view additional videos of removing buffelgrass weeds in the Rincon mountains of Tuscon AZ

  • lol you guys are dumbasses. Makita discontinued 3-speed transmission because of people like you, all the new models are 2-speed. You are burning the motor and overloading the battery, it's not designed to twist roots at 1500+ RPM! Set it to 1st gear for that!

  • Actually, we recommend the slow speed for big weeds. Higher speeds work well for smaller weeds and seedlings in areas where precision is not a concern.
