This just goes to show, its 90% the rider, 10% the bike. Bikes have come on a great deal, but a good rider will always be faster than someone with all the gear and no skill/fitness
The bikes we ride today are so much better than those and I bet those guys paid lots more than we do for em!! Even an entry level AM of today would demolish the field if one of those riders had one. We are privileged...
If you MTB in the pedals you cant use your foot in the turn (right?) so should you put your feet in the pedals in the beginning or later when you`ve learned to keep control in the turns?

all their seats were jacked all the way up back then, 1/2 of the downhillers were on hard tails and i even saw an old school tension disk.... clasic
