I think ISR classes are great for babies, I'm planning on sending my 4 month old baby in a few months. I've checked out many places, and sat on many of the lessons to see how the places were teaching. This video was very disturbing to watch, that baby's head was under the water to many times and way to long. At 2:57 that baby was swallowing to much water, she was shaking and couldn't breathe. If that was my kid I would have stopped that lesson immediately and reported that instructor.
shaking of the body and face turning red under water means " no air and swalloing to much water" the parents should have taken the baby and reassured her she was ok and then continued on with the lesson . The poor babys tummy was so swollen from swalloing so much water.
At 2.40 the teacher let the babys face submerged for 20 seconds. She is the worst isr teacher ive ever seen. As a parent, you should have stopped her after countless submerges instead of just taking the video and making pathetic comments while your daughter was literally drowning. Poor thing suffered at the hands of an incompetent teacher and a passive father.
Oh, dear! poor darling Lily! I guess the idea was to get her floating by reflex, action of arms and legs (which by the end of the session she was starting to learn - still, I couldn't bear watching her distress!
@Tacha1987 Your baby or child can fall in open water even if you are right there watching them. Has your child ever fallen down and hurt themselves on the side walk while you are "right there watching them"? The babies may not like it, but babies don't like alot of things.....daycare, shots, going to sleep, changing a diaper, eating veggies, etc. This will save a child's life if (God forbid) they should ever fall in!
@Jeannette are you serious? You can't tell a good teacher from a bad one. Just because she's certified doesn't mean she's a good teacher. Would YOU let this one train your baby? Watch the other isr videos before assuming.
those who have something negative to say need to educate themselves ASAP either they have no kids are they just are ignorant...this is not cruel or dangerous...babies are wonderful creatures...they possess outstanding survival methods, look it up...stop being ignorant...never underestimate the power and will of a baby
@invigorate people are criticizing the teacher not the program. As an instructor, there's a difference between bad teachers and bad programs. If you're too ignorant to tell the difference between a good teacher and a bad one, you shouldn't speak with such confidence about something with which you know nothing
Dad, good eye. Her head is dropping back because her instructor has her hands all over her head WAY too much!! She has learned to move toward touch and she has learned that touch means air. When she drops her head back her instructor comes in to fix it. The instructor should be working to get those hands in the pool. See 4:20-4:32. How many weeks was she in lessons? You need to get your money back and find a better instructor. I can help if you want a referral.
This is not dangerous! There is someone with the child at all times and she is completely safe! Babies and toddlers cry for a LOT of reasons, not just because they are fearful. It's quite possible that she doesn't WANT to be in the water, but many many times as parents we have to do things that makes our children cry or is upsetting to them. Should we stop changing diapers because it makes the baby cry? Or stop vaccinating because it hurts them and makes them cry? Of course not!
@maddening obviously you're another parent who can't tell the difference between a good and bad instructor. Compare this teacher to several other isr videos and see how many would keep a baby's head submerged for 20 seconds without correcting her.
Good stuff. I love ISR. thank you for sharing it so more parents can educate their children. Keep in mind WHO these negative posters are. Most of them are either teenagers or just ignorants.
@slings4u ignorance are people who can't tell a bad instructor from a good one and condescending on those who can. People aren't criticizing the program. They're commenting on the teacher who is really incompetent. Obviously if this is the first isr video they've seen, they don't realize that not all teachers are this bad. You're just as bad as those who think isr is abusive by assuming that all isr teachers are capable. Watch again and see how bad the teacher is.
Remember that for some families, the chance of their child drowning may be greater than getting in a car accident. I live in Arizona where almost every home has a pool (with or without a fence). I'd much rather "scare" my baby while I'm there to help than see him face down at the bottom of a pool.
Is noone in this video in their right minds? This child is fearful of the water. She is crying the whole entire time, so are other babies that are being taught to swim like this. All of them are crying and I can't for the life of me understand why these ppl are ok with their child being scared to death.
What are you doing?? Do you want Lily to get drowned? Don't you see how the baby is suffering? She will have all the time to learn swimming - when she'll be older...
if she should accidentally fall into water, she won't be able to get older...toddlers can be taught to roll over and save their own lives. it's heart breaking for a parent but it's something very very helpful
THAT'S FUCKING HORRIBLE! you can fucking teac her how to swim without fucking scarring her for life... GOD, your fucking horrible parents.

The sweater didn't make a difference because her head kept sinking in all the videos. Her head is the size of a bowling ball.

Really bad. Her head was under water almost the whole time. Brain damage and chlorine poisoning probably made her limp.
