thanks and... i talked with my router supplier and the internet supplier they told me i needed this so my computer can detect the ether net cabble. i just had used system restore and i was wondering why the internet had not worked thank you for explaining this better
@anythinggoesjoe You probably won't need to buy one since the modern motherboards always have an ethernet slot so you need to install the drivers from the mobo cd, unless Windows XP/Vista/7 or Linux recognizes the ethernet slot, and you are ready to go after Win or Linux installation. There are some cases though that your mobo (old PC) doesn't have an ethernet slot, or if it has, it malfunctions. Then you need to cancel this ethernet slot from the BIOS menu, and buy an ethernet card. Mobos of

it depends on your pci slots, are they regular pci or pci express? Also the system specs of the card should also give you an idea
