This interpretation is actually a little slow and it lost the 2/2 feel at some parts (my conductor is conduction in 2/2 instead of 4/4 to make sure we get the proper feel). Not too bad aside from slip-ups. There was a little too much rimshot when you got to the ship sinking, though. The siren was awesome and you could definitely get that chaotic feel from the muddled notes.
i'm going to play this piece for my busch gardens competition
i think this version IS a bit fast, but it all depends on the conductor and/or the music itself. on our music, we're supposed to have an english horn solo. We don't have an english horn, so we might have to buy/rent one. i love this song though, it seems so sad, and realistic.
once again, the interpretation of this piece probably varies a lot from the original by james swearingen, depending on the conducter and the sheet of music.
No...... that is right, you wait three measures of the snare before you come in. And then it builds untill you get to the solo. They were pretty good. A couple little spots, but every band has their faults. I think they did a great job on the song!!!
@skill178 Actually, the siren part wasn't off. I think it happens at measure 85(I'm playing this), and I counted. But some parts were off. Overall though, this band does have a great future ahead of them. This song isn't easy to pull off, and I think they did it fairly well.
actualy it wasent that slow... its supost to be that slow. and wow a trumpet fucked up bad at the opt soprano sax solo... and the gd flume sounded very very very bad tryn to play it too
your supost to use a flute and/or oboe if you dont have a soprano sax cuz they are rare for school bands. but the song was written for a soprano sax solo, not flute or oboe
the brass needs to be stronger at the begining after the first 4 measures! then throught the song the horns tubas trombones ( bass clari and contra. bass if any) need to have a more much fuller and richer sound

@Robotgrl13577531 This version is actually a little too slow, but this is a much more comfortable pace.

we work at the pace of the conductor. We have a new conductor.. I personally like the one in this video [Mr. Mac]

Unfortunately we only had one oboe, and she was a beginner

The first few times you play it, the transition from the 4/4 to 6/8 and back is really confusing. Well played.
