@mecontemporain it's the first movement from Debussy's string quartet and as far as I can remember it's not in the original film. Violent Cop has got some music by Satie in it, though :)
I've only seen hana-bi and sonatine but Takeshi Kitano is for me, already one of the most original directors out there. I'll probably end up watching most of his other work soon.
Everyone write to criterion and tell them you want them to put this and other takeshi films out on dvd. I know they're already on dvd, but a lot of them (see: violent cop and boiling point) have shoddy prints.. sonatine is a pack-in freeby with Sonatine when it deserves it's own release... etc.
Speaks volumes that infamous movie critic Nigel Buckland rated this film as one of the best ever -keeping in mind 99.9% of movies he reviewed he thought were rubbish.
I still havn't found anything that Beat Takeshi made that I didn't like.

Please, someone tell me which music is this ? Which composer ? I don't think it's from the Hisaishi's original soundtrack...

@yazmatraz Same, I started with a scene at the sea and sonatine and I only have a few of his films left, loved every single one so far.

The movie that made me discover and love kitano's films... The end is just beautiful. I loved "Dolls" too.

Fantastico. Quizás mi preferida de kitano....

One of the first Kitano films I have seen. This is a classic (gangster) movie.
The excellent score by Joe Hisaishi is a perfect addition to this movie.
