@jeffboston The original singer is aother famous Chinese singer, CaiQin. She lives in the same age as Teresa Teng. U can google her as well.

The content of the song is about the true love and miss to her boyfriend or husband, whatever. She never changed her mind years afer years and alway missed him. Sometimes when she came to the shore and listened to the sounds from the sea, she began to miss him.
