@hullandb Yes they still have 9 gears on the rear cassette.

@hullandb Yep. 12-18 speeds. Disk breaks or regular rubber ones, though for downhill racing it's best to use the disks. It's got front and rear shock absorbers, rear is adjustable in some other models the front is too. Got an IronHorse sitting in the garage waiting for me to get off my lazy ass and ride once again.

For some reason Open Cup courses never look that gnarly, the state and smaller ones that really don't qualify for anything major but give you a good reputation look at a lot more gnarly.

downhill and free riders usually use clip less pedals because it offers a lot more control when cornering and it bloody hurts falling of your bike when your clipped in. its the riders personal preference. i use clip less unless im doing XC

Thats what i figured. But if they were willing and not afraid, they could pick up a few seconds since with clipless, your foot is always applying pressure on the pedals, giving more speed.. It would be suicide though

Wow those rock sections look pretty gnarley. There seems to be a huge contrast with the rest of the course though, I mean it's not too hard - just nice and smooth, swallow your fear and hit it as fast as the bike can go. Which IMO is the best type of downhill!
