Can you check out mine? It's a bit buried over vlogs but it's called WIP Survival Kit (It's a Work in Progress project) and I've added a lot to it. I'll make a newer video soon, but I like it a lot. Probably the best survival kit for the price and size I've seen.
@DRmaximumCRAZY--you probably wouldn't need one. You sound pretty tough (you gotta be tough if you don't even put a period at the end of your sentence--that's hardcore).
@UrbanSurvivalTools - Dan - he's probably the kind of tough guy who would laugh at Noah's ark while the flood waters rushed in! Funny to note how he logged in to watch the video, only to talk smack.
@steve51704000--lol I know. This video is old and the Guardian survival kits are definitely not the best ever, but it still cracks me up when people take the time to actually leave a comment even if they hate it. I offered my sincere thanks to another dude who did the same thing a few comments back... haha
@survivealist--I could've shot it anytime during the day or night and would've got a siren if the video was longer than 5 minutes haha seriously though, if you're familiar with El Cajon Blvd in San Diego, I wasn't even a full block up from it. A couple months after shooting this video, we had a meth lab blow up in the middle of the night on the corner of my street and El Cajon.

Good video, and a really great bag. Ya know what's really weird though? I've not see one video with 2 BOB's...a his and hers. I guess the idea is that the man carries it all, which is fine, but with 2 then a couple could take twice as much. Maybe put the lightweight stuff in the ladies, if she's small and maybe fragile (small boned), or she could carry the one with the hygiene essentials and a change of clothes, small towels/washcloths, mini soaps and shampoo...that sort of thing.
@enochseyes3--agreed. to be honest, I don't really support a 2 person BOB, unless the 2nd person is a very small child. I'm a pretty big believer in every single person carrying as many of their own supplies as possible. The risk of being separated and then not having anything is just too great. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Part of my EDC is a survival kit and this one has purpose and is small. 50 ft paracord, SW Knife, Small roll of gauze, and a Flint Striker. This motherfucker fills his bag with a bunch of bull shit! I mean really, the stuff i have is useful--only thing i would want in there would be is a hatchet!
@drpinto28--Zing! Pretty cool that you watched and took the time to comment. It's people like you that give me a reason to get out of bed in the morning. The Lord bless you.
Too bad your bag is not water proof...who ever has playing cards in their kit doesn't take survival serious...this video is a joke. I could eliminate half the items you have in that kit with baking soda. This bag is Junkkkkk!
@bobaloosb I wouldn't say it's the best kit, but it's not exactly junk. Everything in it is useful... Including the playing cards. If a game of solitair keeps your morale up, take the damn cards. It can also go a long way to keep friendly with anyone you share space with.
Totally with ya unclearless. This prepackaged kit is definitely missing a lot of stuff. And of the stuff it does have--most of it isn't the highest quality ever. For me, this bag is just one of a couple different BOBs. My primary BOB does have snares, condoms, a mag bar, 550 cord, and a steel camp cup. Iodine is awesome too--have a tiny binaca container full of it in my floss container EDC. Dual purpose for cuts and water purification. I need to get the fishing stuff though--really good idea.
See my comments on the net, I hate going on, but I want to share more after my last comment. Bro, you can get super glue at the dollar store, great for small cuts and a million other uses. A compass 1 buck. BIC lighter in a plastic bag! Snares. A yo-yo style auto fishing reel. Iodine. Laminated map of your area? TAMPONS! A few do way more than keep your girl happy! Condoms, list goes on $30 more bucks, and you can live a LONG time. Don't get the 72 hr thing? Nylons 33 cents. All not even 1LB!
Unless I missed something, I would have like to have seen some cotton balls mashed in Vaseline in a sandwich bag, a 2 dollar magnesium striker rod for fire (One candle is iffy) a small super cheap homemade PVC water filter, para-cord in addition to the nylon. And ANY type (Even a 5 dollar boyscout from wallyworld) mess kit with a pan and cup to cook/drink out of. 72 hours is great! But a few months is greater, as none of us know the future. I admire all preppers! Better done, than none! ~Kev~
@energytwitch11--depends on where you pick it up. Guardian has actually quit calling this kit the "Deluxe 2 Person Survival Kit" and they now call it the "Elite" kit (I think they added a couple more things). I would just google "Guardian Elite 2 person kit" and sort by price. Probably like $70-80.
My latest favorite thing: I purchased Ralph Lauren underwear that comes in those 4"x.5"x10" (all estimated) clear plastic bags that zip at the top. They're (the bags) the perfect size for my auxiliary pouches on my alice pack and I love that they're clear.
@bwood232--that's fair. There are cheaper ways of putting together a BOB, and certainly better quality. I actually have a few different kits (car, house, etc), of which this is one.
I think the main thing I would tell people who are building their own is to focus on fewer items of higher quality. And maybe number 2 would be to spend some money and energy getting a pretty good pack. How the items are carried and the weight is distributed has a big part to do with how useful the kit is...
@UrbanSurvivalTools Hey thanks for being a good sport brother. Not easy to find on Youtube lol. I agree with your reply "fewer items of higher quality". I would like to add good products don't necassarily have to cost an arm and a leg. A mora knife anywhere from $10-$20 dollars is a great knife. As you did say it takes time and energy to research. I found a Marine Corps ILBE pack ($300-$500) for less than $180. From my experience while deployed, its great!
@bwood232--haha I try to be a good sport--no sense getting your panties in a twist when people point things out. I'm curious about your ILBE--are you talking about the whole pack system, just the main pack, or the smaller ones?
I absolutely LOVE the ILBE Corpsman Assault Pack. My favorite 3 day pack by FAR. I feel like it fits my back and carries the load better than any other pack I've worn. Kind of strapped on the cash, but still have my eye out for a good deal on one of those...
@UrbanSurvivalTools I had the full issue in the Marines; Main pack, Day pack, hydration system, etc. The one I found was the main pack for less than $100. I haven't had the chance to purchase it yet but planning on it for sure. For another cheap but great quality pack would be the swixx mountaineers pack; leather, leather straps, metal buckles, and two pockets, the main pouch and a smaller one to simplify arrangement.
@samee71survival--just another day in the neighborhood...I was living in downtown San Diego when I shot this. Pretty standard for where I was living. Does add a nice touch though
@namankamran Good question. I was asking Guardian the same thing. Apparently they have them in there for emergencies where there is a lot of downtime and waiting. They're good to take the mind off things for a little while...seemed to make sense...

@whoaaitsamm 17 pounds. It's a pretty simple pack so it doesn't have great load distribution as you're carrying it, but it's still pretty decent for a good starter kit...
you dont need more than half of that shit instead of water get a 32oz metal water bottle replace the cheap ass rope with para cord u need a better compass, and knife and you need a feral rod
@ultrabluebear 1) You are right-spaceblankets are a pain in the butt. Very noisy, and would likely tear if you were to use for much longer than 3 days. It does have a knife--just a little folding pocket knife. And I've had the same thought about the "loudness" of the kit too--Guardian definitely manufactured this for "disaster preparedness", and not really "grey man urban survival"
@UrbanSurvivalTools i know but its saltwater nor soup, if you use this kit for survival it would fall short.
and if u use this in a disaster it would fall even more short, what can you really do with a small knife that you have not already in your home to take with you?
if you take this bag to bug out or survive after an disaster then there is no use for those tools.
you take this bag with you right? well people that don,t have a kit will rob you.
@energytwitch11 Thanks for the suggestion! This kit isn't really what I personally use, it's just a pre-packaged kit that happens to sell really well. I'm a big fan of wool blankets in my own bob as well....
This is the worst survival kit I've seen. It seems like you are more interested in owning trinkets in your pack than having actual survival items. A deck of cards, yet no knife?
@NATOrounds Trinkets R Us! There definitely are some "entry level quality" (cheap) items in this kit, but definitely good enough to be a starter kit. There is a SAK style folding knife included in the kit.
A 72 hour kit just has to keep you alive for 72 hours--it's not supposed to be gear for soldiers or serial outdoorsmen. For the heck of it, I actually did a 72 hour Urban Field Test of the kit a couple months ago...videos are on my YT profile...
@mostlymichaelcanada True they are definitely not indestructable. I think they're a great place for people dipping a toe in to begin...had to laugh at your match case/compass reference--totally true. Everything else aside, that is the one thing that screams cheap. Appreciate the A :-)
Water is everywhere, things like the electronics and bandages, medicines, etc... Should be in a waterproof box or at least a plastic bag. If that backpack goes down a river and you are able to recover it, say goodbye to most of the stuff you really need. Also, do you have waterproof matches in that sack? Fire is important.
@pettusandrew Great point. Some of the stuff comes in sealable bags, but Guardian would do well to keep the radio, flashlight, and some of the other stuff in separate plastic bags. They have matches in the kit, but they aren't waterproof...
really nice for some people prepare for the worst case scenario...anytime and anywhere disasters do happen so have your own kit and teach your kids to make their own too.
Instead of depending on aluminum coated Mylar sleeping bags, you should have a wool blanket, snow pants, and a coat that is rated for 40 below zero (with removable/reversible layers) and with gortex coating. Those mylar sleeping bags will wear out in just a few days of folding and unfolding.
@lunchboxbandits Since exposure if the very first concern of the survivalist (as one of the first things to kill the vast majority of people in the wilderness is exposure) then clothing and warmth should be the utmost priority. The rule of three. Three seconds in extreme temperatures, three minutes without oxygen, three days without water, three months without food. Shelter, fire, water, food. I guess you can adapt your 72 hour kit for the time of year, but even in the summer is can get cold at
@DeimosSaturn again 72 hour kit. unless the person drowns,(no kit will help you learn to swim unless you walk around with an oxygen tank) or you dont know the type of environment you live in (in either case the person wouldnt stand a chance) And yea no store bought kit will be customized to fit everyones needs, people need to ad accordingly; meds are the most common additions. but ya dress accordingly and dont take more than you can carry, if you need to walk, but sure stuff your car to the brim
@lunchboxbandits but even cars have weight limits. and to much stuff will get in the way. but my bob does have a real sleepingbag, if im living in hell, i better at least sleep well and snug.
Wouldn't this be a bug out bag, as opposed to a survival kit? Survival kits are usually considered smaller. Like a "first aid kit" versus a "medic bag" or something. Semantics I guess. I'm retarded. Pay no attention
Make your own. I had to live in my car for 5 days during a snowstorm. Except for the car providing some of the heat, 2 people survived fairly comfortably. The gas stations lost power for much of that time, so we had to survive on one tank of gas
i really don't like the prefabricated kits, but this is one of the better ones ive seen. good job

things that are wrong with this kit in my opinion:
1)spaceblanckets are nice if you have hypothermia or something, as a sleepingbag
waking up all sweaty and stuff it wrinkels all night around you, o heck no.
2)why is everything in shiny colors and not some flat colors, i mean the tubetent
the flashlight could it be more visible.
3)it has no knife
4)can you make it more obvious that you have a bug out bag when it says: survivalkit on the back, you get robbed for that.

really nice for some people prepare for the worst case scenario...anytime and anywhere disasters do happen so have your own kit and teach your kids to make their own too.

DeimosSaturn 1 year ago
@DeimosSaturn Size and weight might be why those sleeing bags would be good, and like he said its a 72 hour kit, not long term.

I guess you can adapt your 72 hour kit for the time of year, but even in the summer is can get cold at

night. especially if you live in arid climates or deserts.
DeimosSaturn 1 year ago
@DeimosSaturn again 72 hour kit. unless the person drowns,(no kit will help you learn to swim unless you walk around with an oxygen tank) or you dont know the type of environment you live in (in either case the person wouldnt stand a chance) And yea no store bought kit will be customized to fit everyones needs, people need to ad accordingly; meds are the most common additions. but ya dress accordingly and dont take more than you can carry, if you need to walk, but sure stuff your car to the brim
lunchboxbandits 1 year ago
