  • 0:48 to continue?

  • mayweather who? CHAVES IS CLASS

  • When u get knocked down what u automatically are supposed to do is get back up of course and walk to the ref so he can know ur fine instead of holding on to the ropes. Last u r supposed to give him ur hands so he knows ur still good to go. Meldrick Taylor failed all these 3 tests because he only was on his feet because he was holding on the ropes and the judge knew that.Chavez won clearly and the 2nd fight only clarified it even more.Chavez the best fighter of all time!!

  • meldrick got back up on pure adrenaline and momentum, but he didnt know what was going on. The ref made the right call. This fight is movie-worthy.

  • "There is NO FIGHT worth a man's life. I dont know and I dont care about the time. When I get tired of seeing a man get pound, pound, pound, and I see he's had enough I'm stoppin the fight."--Richard Steele.

"He wasnt going to do A THING, except get hurt worse than he already was."--Richard Steele

Remember, the 2 seconds is irrelevent...UNLESS...UNLESS ...you show favoritism, bias, or injustice.

  • mexico is the best in the world juas number one

  • viva mexico cabrones..!!

  • All I have to say Taylor was beat up so bad he was pissing blood plus Taylor an Chavez fought against an Chavez won again......

  • stupid idiots still making excuses for MT if your a fighter you know to put your hands together ready for war if you want some MT hands were hanging on the ropes the whole time the ref was counting even after the fight was waived both arms still on the fricken ropes stupid racist people know some boxing before you comment on race.

  • Meldrick lost he did not answer when asked if he was ok he was out on his feet from that hard brick right that shook his brain black he got up but saw black and thats y he lost I dont think it was a bad call by the ref it would have been the same for any fighter

  • maybe i'm bad at internet sarcasm but i laugh at these comments talkin about how meldrick got robbed. you clearly see the ref askin if he's ok. he should've at least nodded his head. if he got robbed, then it was his own fault for not replying.

  • It`s simple: The referee asks Taylor if he is OK, but He says not a word nor tries to lift his arms. He`s done and the referee stops it acoording to the rules!!

  • he never give any sign to wanted still fighting he never rise his hands he never say that he his ok nothing he don't respond so that is why the fight was stopped and it was ok bucause if in the 5 secons remain chavez hit him again he could die , just like has happen before , but if theres a doubt just watch the rematch

  • he never give any sign to wanted still fighting he never rise his hands he never say that he his ok nothing he don't respond so that is why the fight was stopped and it was ok bucause if in the 5 secons remain chavez hit him again he could die , just like has happen before

  • THE BIGGEST ROB IN BOXING HISTORY.

  • he should have let him continue chavez lost that fight the ref was paid off

  • @elmok3 you are wrong even if theres only a sec for the fight to end , if the fighter don't give sign of he wanted to continue or if the refree see that he can't continue , the refree must stop the fight , and that it's an actually rule for the refrees, you can chek it out , clearly melderick just wanted that the fight end don't give any sign to continue just wanted to make time , if he come back and in that 5 sec chavez hit him good in that condition , he could had die , that had happen before

  • @elmok3 todavia les arde el ass. jajajaja

  • Boxing: still better than MMA

  • Time to share another fact about our best Mexican fighter of all history and the difference in power!

Record @ fight End of career

    Chavez 68-0 (55 KO) 107-6-2 (89 KOs)

    Taylor 24-0-1 (15 KO) 38-8-1 (20 KOs)

Chavez lost his first fight (actually a draw) to Frankie Randall after 89 victories. He holds the longest winning streak in boxing history with 6 World titles in 3 weight divisions

  • JCC is the reason kids don't know about Taylor

  • @Kaveo415in PED'S is thr reason Chavez was still standing after he damn near got his head decapitated in the beginning of the 10th round!!!!!! LOL

  • @canibusnj This is the old canibus accusing Chavez of doping. Man, oh man.

  • @gprix Question: Did you see my recent post on Chavez vs Taylor 3. You have some catching up to do. Julio Cesar Chavez was a great fighter, the last of a dead breed and a deserving first ballot hall of famer.

  • @gprix Did Canib really accuse JC of doping?

  • @TheChoice264 Yes he did (the "former" canib)

  • @gprix Recently?

  • @TheChoice264 2 months ago, right here on this video.

  • pinches gringos se la pelaron una vez mas.. pero a quien mas le duele es a los puertorriqueños por que Julio nunca perdio un solo round vs. un boricua

  • Always thought this was a great, and very brave, stoppage by Steele.

Taylor suffered brain damage as it was, but another punch in those last 2 seconds could have actually killed him.

The referee has to apply the same rules and logic regardless of how long is left - be it 2 seconds or 2 rounds.

  • @DoctorBoosh if there was 30 seconds left i agree, but it would have taken chavez 2 seconds to get to taylor before he could throw another punch. i feel very bad for taylor, this fight ruined him physically and mentally.

  • @jimmyg141 I don't think the amount of time remaining can be an issue. Maybe Chavez would have got another punch in, maybe he wouldn't. Either way, the referee has to base his decision on the state of the fighter, not what's left on the clock. I think he did the correct thing, and feel that some of the comments on here are ridiculously harsh on him.

  • CHAVEZ EL MEJOR DE LA HISTORIA!!!!!!!!!

  • reached bakk like chaves punchef a hoe

  • HBO and all their commentators are so full of shit, they are so use to seeing Leonard,Pernell, floyd,Camacho run for 12,or 15 rounds jabbing and running from opponents but when they get into a real tough fighter like most of this Mexican fighters they come to fight every Time Chavez got punched but was never hurt. you can tell from start to finish he out punched just look at his deformed face .. all you so call experts to this 20 years later. are still confused who the real champ is CHAVEZ.

  • hdzspider, you are a very bright person . new sheriff in town and his Name is Julio Cesar Chavez. Very Tough Hombre!!!! Julio Has out Boxed Many of Lou Duva's Fighters no wonder why he does not like him. He Should respect him instead.

Duva you Suck as a Trainer. stop crying Chavez kicked your Boy's ass.....

  • what a fight!!! taylor was beaten defenseless! the fight wasn't even close.

  • Let me share a fact given by Dr Flip Homansky about Taylor after the fight

"Meldrick suffered a facial fracture, he was urinating pure blood, his face was grotesquely swollen... this was a kid who was truly beaten up to the face, the body, and the brain"

Meldrick could have been the best fighter, unlucky for him Chavez lived in the same era.

  • @hdzspider Taylor was a cheater! the shorts down his rivals! so just won!

  • @hdzspider .... if this was the case then the fight should have been stopped from round 10. If I get to the twelfth round the only way I want to go out is by total KO if that be the case. Taylor was not given the opportunity to finish this fight... it would have taken more than 5 seconds for Chavez to cross the ring to throw a punch. Taylor was served a greaty injustice.

  • @MegaYouri13 I think Taylor was a great fighter. He didn't let himself fall by the 10th round only because of his pride but inside he knew. To me it would have been a great injustice if Steele had not counted 8 secs, + 2 secs before the end was enough time for Chavez to finish him real bad.

  • @hdzspider Chavez lost that fight. Period. Point Blank. End of Story. Richard Steele was a moron for stopping that fight with 2 seconds left. There is no doubt he took a beating but there is also no doubt he won more rounds and EARNED the right to finish those two seconds. This fight was a travesty and I will remember it FOREVER.

  • @MrHolipsism Well MrHolipsism, according to the records, weather you like it or not, Chavez won that fight. If Steele's "moroness" made CHavez a winner, that's something you have to live with FOREVER. Or find a way to reach the Spike-white-haired-dude and complain to him since he was the one providing the moo-la for those events.

  • @hdzspider Really? You mean according to the record books Chavez won the fight? You really dropped some science, huh? LOL.

  • @MrHolipsism Last time I checked! LOL

  • @MrHolipsism THANK YOU!!!!!

  • @MrHolipsism lol your story is filed under fiction dude. ha ha Chavez won that fight by knocking Meldrick out. Lights were off upstairs when Steele asked Meldrick if he was ok to continue and Meldrick looked away.

  • @solidc213 He looked away because Duva jumped on the edge of the ring. The reason why you Chavez fans feel it should have been stopped is because you KNOW that if the fight had continued Chavez wouldn't have even had time to throw another punch and the fight would have went to the score cards and his ass would have LOST. So I totally understand why ya'll keep saying Meldrick didn't have enough left to finish THE LAST TWO SECONDS OF THE FIGHT. Had that happened to Chavez you guys would RIOT.

  • @MrHolipsism He did not respond to the refs question and when you don't respond there is an obvious problem. I never said Meldrick wouldn't have won if it went to the cards because he would have. If Meldrick can't respond by confirming that he is ok then he loses. Its really that simple so why don't you understand that? Doesn't matter if its 2 seconds or 2 rounds left, he did not respond. You can keep arguing but you cannot avoid that fact. He did not respond and that gave Chavez the TKO win.

  • @MrHolipsism Meldrick probably kept holding on to the ropes because Duva shook the ring when he jumped up right? lol

  • @solidc213 Don't worry, Bro. I totally understand why you Chavez fans didn't want those last two seconds to expire. Its ok. Great victory for Chavez and a great fight for the ages at the end of the day. But...don't act like we don't know what time it is.

  • @MrHolipsism Chavez would have lost on points and everyone knows that. But it didn't have to go to points because he knocked him out. It happens in boxing. Answer me this: Why did Meldrick Taylor not let go of the ropes when standing there "bro"? lets hear it.

  • @solidc213 Richard Steele stopped the fight with 2 seconds left. Chavez knocked him down, he didn't knock him out. What bothers me is how people want to pick sides in this thing. This fight was one of the best fights I've ever seen and I have nothing but the utmost of Respect for Chavez. He is and always will be one of the greatest fighters ever. This isn't about him.

  • What pissed me off when I watched it and what pisses me off today is that Taylor fought a hell of a fight and Steele didn't allow him the 2 seconds that he earned. To answer your question...I have no idea. Have you ever been knocked down by a punch? Neither have I. So I can't speculate on why he held the ropes. What I can do is look at the facts; He got knocked down and he got back up. You got the FLASHING RED LIGHT signaling the last 10 sec and Richard Steele stops it with Taylor on his feet.

  • @MrHolipsism This was probably directed to me but didn't see it because you didn't put @solidc213 in the reply. Disregard the question in my previous comment. Taylor fought a hell of a fight and it was amazing. When you hold on to the ropes in a boxing match its common sense that you are doing it because you cannot stand up on your own. If you cannot stand up on your own you cannot continue a boxing match no matter when it occurs.

  • @solidc213 I respectfully disagree with you. At the time I watched that fight I wasn't a fan of either Taylor or Chavez like that. I just enjoyed a good boxing match. I say this with all honesty; If we reverse the fighters and the same thing happened to Chavez I would be just as pissed. These are warriors. If it were Chavez and I was a Taylor fan I would consider it a tainted victory. I would want Chavez to continue those last few seconds because he EARNED it.

  • @MrHolipsism Taylor EARNED everything that he gave and received for 35 minutes and 58 seconds. What he DID NOT EARN was those last 2 seconds. You EARN that by being in condition to answer the referee and show that you're able to defend yourself. Boxing is a play on life;nothing is GIVEN to you. To reverse what the Philly sports writer said,"Julio Cesar Chavez deserved his victory, because he beat him, literally, for 35 minutes and 58 seconds and closed the show". It's as simple as that.

  • @MrHolipsism Well, I get that and understand that too, but I,unlike most, put my feelings aside and my sympathy, and use reason. Chavez fought hard too, and was NOT beat up, and CLOSED THE SHOW the way Champions do. Why punish a great champion for doing everything RIGHT and award the fallen champion who didnt close the show and did NOTHING to convince the third man in the ring that he was fit to continue? Simply pulling yourself up is not enough.

  • @MrHolipsism Steele said, even his wife,on the car ride home from Caesars Palace that night said,"Richard why'd you do it? He was doing so well. He was so close. Couldnt you have just let the time run out." Steele told his wife that had he done that, it wouldve been cheating and unfair to Chavez. Steele told his wife that Taylor had had enough. And he was and is, right. The time is a non-issue. Rounds are 3:00 and you must be able to fight for 3:00 of each and every round--INCLUDING THE 12TH!!!

  • @TheChoice264 Like I said, you are a Chavez fan with no honor and you will take a victory any way you can get it and I'm cool with that. I, on the other hand, would've been just as pissed if it happened to Chavez. This boo-sit about him not being able to continue is just that. He got knocked down and he got back up. Chavez wouldn't have even had a chance to throw another punch with 2 seconds left, so I TOTALLY overstand why you Chavez fans wanted the fight to be stopped.

  • @MrHolipsism This isnt about taking sides, or being a fan. I'm a fan of boxing and many fighters, too many to name. This is about doing the right thing, in which, this case, Steele did. If the roles were reversed and Chavez took a bad beating and reacted the way Taylor did when he pulled himself up, I'd STILL be saying that Steele did the right thing. BECAUSE HE DID. You're logic is emotion based, not reasonably.

  • @MrHolipsism The day that you understand that the 2 seconds is irrelevent to your case and wouldnt hold up in court, and the fact that there is no rule in boxing that say's a ref must allow a beaten fighter who can no longer protect himself to finish the final 2 seconds of a fight IF it is assumed he will win a decision(split as it turned out) will be the day we can engage in an intelligent conversation. He pulled himself up using one rope, and fell back against the ring post, so what?

  • @MrHolipsism The question IS was he fit to continue? Anybody with an UNBIASED BRAIN can clearly see a beaten man who'd had enough. It was time for it to stop. 2 seconds is 2 seconds. Stop being irrational.

  • @TheChoice264 "The question IS was he fit to continue?"

YES. He was fit to go two more seconds. To say he wasn't is being irrational.

  • @MrHolipsism If he was fit to go 2 more seconds, then he wouldve let go of the ropes and began to pace and get his legs under him. He wouldve raised his gloves to show the ref that he can protect himself. He wouldve told Steele he was okay even before, but, especially after, Steele asked him not once, but twice if he was okay, instead of looking over to his corner,"distracted". These are things a fighter is taught to do in these situations from a very young age and is instilled into their minds.

  • @TheChoice264 Once you understand that time is irrelevent, that Steele was not the time keeper, that his concern and responsibility, above all other responsibilities, is on the condition of the fighters, and not the time, then you must logically, if you're a man of honor and value, take the "2 second issue" out of the equation. That leaves you with---was Taylor fit to continue? As any logical and unbiased and unemotional person will tell you and can clearly see---the man was beaten and finished.

  • @TheChoice264 He deserved those 2 seconds. Fuck whatever lame shit you're talking about.

  • @MrHolipsism I understand how you FEEL, but this isnt about feelings, its about doing what is right. Richard Steele did the RIGHT thing. People always sympathize for Taylor and say he earned those final 2 seconds by the way he had fought prior to being dropped and therefore Steele should have GIVEN the fight to him. But, people fail to see the gross injustice this wouldve been toward Chavez. Chavez fought HIS heart out too. Many people, including one judge, felt he was winning too.

  • @MrHolipsism You see, so you'd be taking away HIS victory, and GIVING it to his enemy who was concussed, holding the ropes, and aloof in the corner when asked if he was ok. That would not be fair to Chavez. Chavez did what HE HAD TO and because Taylor DID NOT do what HE HAD TO,Richard Steele did what HE HAD TO.This really isnt that difficult to wrap your mind around. It's common sense.People just get emotional and feel sorry for Taylor because he fought hard and got beat up,and was 2 seconds away

  • @MrHolipsism It was an amazing fight and nothing should be taken from either fighter. I just know a TKO when I see one and I admit it when it happens. Also you dodged my simple question of why MT wasn't letting go of the ropes even after the count down was over....care to answer that yet?

  • @solidc213 I didn't dodge it. I answered it above.

  • Comment removed

  • @hdzspider Thanks, I couldn't have said it better.....Taylor was never the same after that fight. Today he is extremely punch drunk, probably the worst I've ever seen, and he still believes he can fight....it's very sad.

  • @dacordova He retired in 2002 DUMBASS!!!!! :D

  • @canibusnj Sorry, didn't mean to hit a nerve.....you two must be dating.

  • it is a hard one to call but i dont think taylor was hurt bad enough to stop it... he just didnt say he wanted to continue so fair enough

  • @TheRozza333

ummm taylor did not answer the ref. taylor was being held up by the ropes. taylordoes not make eye contact with the ref. end of story

  • @973professor and where that hoo shit come from lmao u damn punk...wheres your head at? He was supose to look at the reff not the fucking coach, that tell u the he was waiting coach say ( come on 6 more sec) lol. Sohe ust wanna fight no more he was out!! Sint look at reff til he grabbed his pittiful head and looked at him, he was out and thats sad..........got his bit ch ass beat in the last 6 sec lmfao....u know the truth tho!! this is why black fighters run

  • Yalll forgetting the fact that you need to pick up your hands after a knock down and reff checks if your stiff! And if all soft you will not fight...he dint pick up his hands or look at the reff!! Who gives a fuck if it was 6 sec, shit that looks good on chavez and shows what a shit head taylor is!! He went toe to toe wit chavez 2 times and go the shit kickedout him 2 times, typical black fighters. They hate the mexican greats and that why rrunning came in the sport!

  • @13SmokeAlot YOU ARE RIGHT. AND IF YOU NOTICE, BLACKS HUG AND RUN TOO MUCH. IT´S PAINFULLY BORING TO WATCH THEM. THEY EVEN HUG IF THEY ARE WINNING!!! GOOD THING WE HAVE MEXICANS AND OTHER LATINOS, EAST EUROPEANS, AND ASIANS ON THE SCENE NOW. WATCH PERNELL WHITAKER, FLOYD MAYWEATHER, LEONARD, ETC. COWARDS. ALL THEY HAD OR HAVE IS AN ATHLETICA ABILITY AND SPEED. ZERO POWEER, ZERO RESISTANCE, ZERO HEART.

  • that right hook chavez threw to knock taylor down dam that was a fucken hard shot omg

  • @babaman1985 not even black you fuckin ass wipe im white, and we c who is rascist now!!!!!!

  • Don King and Richard Steel were cut buddies...

But Taylor is part of the blame too. The guy use to eatt like he was going to the electric chair... Taylor was s always about 10lbs over weight before his fights. He told Georgie Benton, his trainer to stay out of his business when Georgie Told him he was worng for doing so

  • @br289165 your a fucking moron..... Blacks cant beat mexicans!!! Most of chavez lost came from black ppl and tgey robbed sweet pea when he fought chavez cuz he really won there was no draw.. Meldrick taylor was winning this fight if the ref didt be a dam idiot and stop the fight he woulda won on points and as for pac he onlynbeating everybody mayweather beat 1st...hatton,de le hoya, he barley can beat marquez but mayweather did what destroyed marquez

  • @973professor

Try writing like an educated person, you can tell you are black.

  • @973professor ?

chavez killed the mexican killer 2 times, meldrik 2 times, ali 1 time and the list goes on!! You have to put your hands up fo the fight to conteniu and there was 2 seconds left, not only did he not put his hands up..he was looking around (like where the fuck im at haha) go suck a black dick even tho i know u black!! You not white, only black people hate hispanics and everyone knows that...we dont hate blacks...we got them all in lati america!

  • TAYLOR WENT STRAIGHT TO THE HOSIPITAL AFTER THIS FIGHT, CHAVEZ WENT PARTYING..... TAYLOR IS NOW RETARDED, CHAVEZ WAS ON BOOZE BUT NOW WORKS AS BOXING ANALYST FOR MEXICAN TV.

  • @tbcass and the rest that say he deserve the win. In any sport and in life there is no deserve you either win or losse. Look at the facts Taylor had his hands on the ropes wich a fighter my stand on his own. Also he was not responding to the ref. If the ref would have over looked thoses two things he would have cheated Chavez. All fighters know that when you get k.o that u need to convice the ref you are ok and want to keep fighting not hang on the ropes and look at the birds.

  • Taylor couldn't handle a fight with a tough Mexican, All the NIgs pitty pat each other when they fight so when they face a Mexican or Philipino they get smashed. That's why that Jig Mayweather aint got the nuts to face Pacqaio.

  • @br289165 You BIG IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!! LOL LOL how many boxing star's have ever come out of the PHILIPINE'S you have just 1 which is Manny Pac compared to as you call them Nigs. Mexican fighters Black fighters and white fighters are the most popular fighters going. Most Philipino people are tiny then you have Pac man going up in wieght knocking out middlewieghts etc like its nothing no wonder people are suspicious of him

  • @ninjanbounti you mean knocking out welter weights, many has never fought a middleweight, and to be honest i wouldn't be surprised Manny is is some kind of steroids, but if he isnt well great.

  • @TRIPLESIXSICCNESS welterweights i meant.

  • Hahahahaha I am Mexican and I am really glad Chavez won but what the fuck is that guy trying to say at the end of the video??? OMG!! LOL so fucking funny hahaha...

JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ # 1 FIGHTER pound for pound. Haterz just make CHAVEZ more glorious!!! haha...

  • this fight like all others was "fixed". Wake up people. In the words of former world welterweight champion don jordan"all fights are fixed, from four rounders on up".You can find this quote in the best boxing book ever wrote "In This Corner".

  • I heard Richard Greene committed suicide, i think i deserve to die, i hope he is payng for what he did

  • @ajahamza WHO WAS RICHARD GREENE'?

  • What people forget is that julio deserved the win too.

Personally im not a big fan of chavez but he broke him down for 12 rounds and won the fight.

If Taylor won we would be arguing who deserved to win.

Bottom line is it was a just ending to a great performance by two great fighters because Stone Cold said so.

  • Yeah, robbed for sure... AAHA! Look at chavez last pounch its a killer one. You cant say that Taylor was robbed, He was just a little dizzy Hahahaha

  • Richard Steele took alot of heat for stopping this fight but in reality it was Lou Duva, Taylor's trainer, who should be blamed for the loss. The video shows Steele asking Taylor twice,"you okay?" All Taylor had to do was nod yes and he wins on points. Duva had climbed onto the ring apron and distracted Taylor from answering Steele. Steele called the bout when he got no answer, like any other good ref. would've done. If the clip was longer you can see that Duva realizes what he had just done.

  • Que narrador tan chingón, me cae que así son mas emocionantes las peléas.

  • Chavez, Chavez Chavez!

    Mexican glory! WE love you!

  • Chavez won that fight,he destroyed Taylor!

  • @servidor07 Yep in there 2nd fight he destroyed Taylor. But if the 1st fight would of went the full 12 rounds. Chavez would of lost by unanimous decision. Taylor dominated in the 1st fight, until getting knocked out with only 2 seconds left. Chavez got lucky as hell.

  • @Felixg1979 After the fight Taylor was taken to the hospital with a broken jaw, broken ribbs, brain injury and urinating blood,on the first fight!

And if Chavez k.o him with only 2 seconds on the clock, still is a K.O.He put Taylor away in the first fight, after that Taylor was not the same, the second fight was a walk in the park for Chavez.

  • @Felixg1979 I wouldn't call it luck, sir. Meldrick's blinding hand speed was a very tough obstacle for Chavez to overcome, and he did so by landing accurate shots that were devastating on Meldrick's face and body. Even though Chavez's punches weren't being thrown as fast as Taylor's, he still had to time them right and not waste any since Taylor was obviously a lot faster. Boxers like Meldrick Taylor, Manny Pacquiao, and Naseem Hamed are difficult to hit because of their speed.

  • @servidor07 I saw that fight as it happened and you are wrong. Taylor dominated that fight until the last 30 seconds. Taylor was robbed.

  • @tbcass taylor looked at his corner once he got back up, that was a sign he didnt want to continue. had he just said to the ref 'im good, im good' it wouldve went on, but, clearly, he looked like a beaten man. the ref shouldnt care if there's 5 seconds or 50 seconds left. it was the right stoppage. he lost in the rematch anyway. game over

  • @eamon0008 I disagree but let's leave it at that.

  • @tbcass Taylor was not robbed... he was saved! Have you seen him now? He can't even speak right because of the punches Chavez gave to him.

  • @servidor07 Taylor was robbed,jajaa!

He might have dominated the fight, but who got K.O?

Taylor did,he was in space when the ref ask him"are you O.K?"he did no respond, you dont respond you are out!

    Regarles of the time.

  • This fight was fixed, yeah JCC was hitting him with hard blows but at the same time Meldrick Taylor was outboxing all rounds. Richard Steele got paid of by Don King, such a shame for Taylor's victory to be taken away like that.

  • richard steele...one of the worst refs .

  • Taylor was up but still knocked down.

  • @kalaslsl he was knockesd out...and the rules says that a boxer in that condition CANT continue, no mater how many time is in the fight...

he cant answer steele´s cuestion, and he answer TWICE....

  • @Aragorn522

Yeah I agree with you, I'm not arguing the refs decision.

  • One of the most dramatic fights in recent memory. We still talk about a fight that happened almost 20 years ago! Yes, Mayweather was winning by points, but JC Chavez was beating Mayweather to the pulp. In the rematch, a few years later, JC Chavez won the fight. Mayweather was already in a physical and mental decline. But, what a heart Mayweather and JC Chavez showed in that March 17th, 1990 fight, true professionals of the sport. Both go to the Hall of Fame!

  • soy de argentina pero comento q despues de estoo meldrick taylor NO FUE EL MISMO y no puede hablar bien y despues no fue el mismo boxeador y hoy en dia su sentido de habla esta destruido

  • OK OK OK im mexican and i go for JCC,,But come on you dont stop the fight with 2 secs.i saw it was a steal...yes i know they asked taylor if he was okk.and he dident respond but 2 secs left.

  • @DosXsConTecate And why shouldn't the ref have stopped the fight? To give Taylor the decision. He could have been killed!

  • Lou Duva added to the confusion when Taylor was looking at his corner, to win by decision over chavez was already quite a feat but Taylor wanted to knockout Chavez and he paid the price by mixing it up.

  • ENTIENDAN LO BOXEADORES MEXICANOS LOS ACABAN ABAJO Y DESPUS LOS DESMADRAN

  • Meldrick was on dream st in the last seconds of the fight at 1:25 you can clearly hear and see the ref trying to get a response from taylor he was out of it

  • Just watched an interview with Meldrick Taylor BEFORE the Chavez fight. I am here to tell you HE WAS DONE (AS FAR AS BEING DAMAGED) BEFORE the Chavez fight. I mean, he was mumbling and hard to understand, glassy eyed, stiff and robotic like he was having a hard time coming up with reponses to the interviewer. Meldrick was the fastest puncher I have EVER seen and I have been watching boxing since I was a little kid. Maybe which boxers get dementia depends a lot on genetics. Really sad story.

  • jafmex you are right bro taylor' light were out so chavez wins end of the story. o and to all of the people how said that taylor won? if taylor was wining the fight how come he end up like a monster. thank you all and stop hating on the #1 pound for pound fighter JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ

  • ok...in sports, while theres still time, its still a game...so to that logic stopping the fight in the last seconds is just like stopping the fight at any other time

  • @raidersSolja thats right!

  • If they would of let it go on Chavez was right there Taylor would of died

  • this fight was not thrown... that ref looked him dead in his eyes, and if you're going to trust a ref through an entire fight, then you got to trust him in the final seconds..

  • you think Steele would have stopped it if it was ali or Leonard in that position? Hell no!

  • Chinese girl Mildred Taylor cries at 0:44

  • un idolo como chavez que arrastraba seguidores a lo cabron ya no habra, guerrero mexicano el mejor del mundooooooo. por que pongo dos comentarios y se batalla para poner mas, que tonterias de pagina.

  • Who cares about the arguments over who won or not. Who cares about debating it until the end of time. In the end Taylor got his head handed to him on a platter and knocked down in a way that would make any fighter embarrassed. That has to be a bigger blow to the ego than losing, unless your 're a crybaby and winning and losing are all you care about as opposed to dignity, courage, and admitting you got your head torn off.

  • It's sad what became of Taylor.

  • the last chavez pounch was mortal...

  • @jorgea79 yeah, but that punch at 24 seconds left, that one effed him!!!

  • @revskull yep. but taylor was living dead , the last chavez punch, was an end

  • if chavez fight taylor again, the jiggaboo definetly going to die.

  • taylor was still holding on to the ropes when he was suppose to walk forward to the ref to show that he was ok. taylor never walked forward he was knocked out.

  • Meldrick didn`t win the fight! He got knocked out by Julio and when the referee stopped the fight it was 2 seconds away from the bell to ring... I didn`t hear no bell when the referee stopped it!! But I don`t think Taylor could lived with a victory like that... Anyway everithing got settled in the rematch. or there are more excuses for that fight too???? LOL

  • @londonhustler85 ur rigth bro, they say taylor won , when in reality he was more in a survival situation than a victory

  • taylor won this fight really, i hate the fanboys

  • I saw the fight live via HBO and had Chavez way ahead, and I couldn't believe how HBO kept saying Taylor was "way ahead". Chavez was belting Taylor with such clean accurate shots and Taylor was throwing combos and punches in bunches. I just saw the damage Chavez was doing and the pitty pats that Taylor was doing. I have argued with so many boxing fans about who was winning this fight and should have it been stopped. My take Chavez by UD or KO. Notice Taylor is unresonsive to the ref. Chavez won

  • Chavez destroyed Taylor, that its he is the best ever and Lou Duva is an ass hole!!!

    VIVAAA MEXICO CABRONEEEEEESSS!!!!!!

  • Yea it was all Richard Steele's fault. Steele was suckerpunching Taylor during exchanges, and he told Taylor to go toe to toe with Chavez, and he told Taylor that he needed the last round, and he was one of the planners of the twin towers bombing, and he had something to do with Michael Jackson's death blah, blah, blah.

  • put yourself in Richard Steele's shoes, crowd is roaring, a battered man hit himself at the end of the 11th and was walking the wrong way. 12th he fell by throwing a punch and he is getting hit hard and is knocked down, the man does not look at you or answers you when you ask if he is ok. He aware of how close Chavez is and knows he is coming to knock him out, you don't know how much time is left, what do you do?

  • Meldrick Taylor deserved this match he earned it. That was bullshit tha referee needs to be shot. 2 seconds left in the round are you serious? By the time Chavez would've went over to fight the bell would've rung. Fucking dumb ass ref.

  • that shit was cheatin..look at how much time is left!!!

  • right decision if the ref let taylor go on chavez would ev just ran in and knock taylors head into the 5 row

  • what the hell he was ok

  • si ibieran seguido la pelea julio ubiese matado a ese simio,,,

  • @takethat925 Your a BITCH, your mother should of swallowed you!!!! LOL

  • El arbitro hizo bien en parar,Taylor estaba ko

  • Do you notice the difference between the HBO commentators and these ones?

HBO commentators stayed quiet during the last 30 seconds of the round. They didn`t said a word about the big shots chavez was landing on Taylor, They didn`t

yell at the moment Taylor went down.

They start critize and yell when steele stopped the figth.

    HBO commentaros suck !!

  • @tepiacapower

Dude they were biased throught the whole fight..They (HBO) had clearly put all their eggs in Taylor's basket...They knew Chavez and King's fighter were leaving for showtime...

Watch the whole fight they don't call alot of punches that Chavez was landing and they down played what he did in the last three rounds..They were still hyping Taylor in the 12th while he was getting killed.....JOKE

  • @donnyaldridge damn u know youre boxing history props i didn't know that

  • @donnyaldridge I saw that fight live on TV and I disagree with you. Taylor was dominating the fight until the end when Steele robbed Taylor and stopped the fight. It was one of the worse decisions I ever saw in all my years as a boxing fan. In my mind Taylor won that fight easily.

  • @tbcass

    Good for you...

  • @tbcass Are you serious? You must be a retired boxing fan now because I don't think you know what your talking about. Taylor dominated sure... but did you see his eyes? Did you hear about his pee? It was blood. The ref saved Taylor. Good thing boxing is only 12 rounds and not 14 or Taylor could have died. And one more thing... "Taylor won that fight easily"? Wow.. look at Chavez.. hes tired but he wasn't limping or nothing like that. He kept on fighting and won.
