Darren, I'm still not sure why you kept thinking that Arsenal will win the title. They have the same players (minus a few) same manager and they struggled to finish fourth last season. I reckon Chelsea is a strong contender for the title. Liverpool is losing players and MU is not looking good.

Good point Xwing, this years African Nations Cup will have a major bearing on the destination of the trophies this season. Chelsea and Everton will suffer the most and Man City will lose Toure and Adebayor. Reducing his exposure to this eventuality, Wenger again proves a shrewd operator.

i agree with you people have been going mad on the arsenal forums. eboue, kolo and ade were all spent forces anyway and i am laughing my head of at city paying 15million for kolo. and he is getting 120,000 per week mad!

arsene has said a number of times that after the emirates cup he will dive into the transfer market this obviously means he is waiting for how much money he has to spent.

Arsenal have nothing to worry about i dont know why those people sent you those emails. Adebayour was on the way out anyway replaced by Eduardo and RVP, Toure cant play with Gallas and replaced by Vermaelen and Senderos. No big deal smart move by Wenger. Arsenal looking good to push for the title, cant wait to see how rosicky eduardo arshavin fabregas wallcot and rvp play together when they are all fit. Cmon Gooners

honestly i think we are dark horse and hopefully pick up some tropheys because its been a few years, the only type of player we are missing is a defensive midfielder, losing Flamini was pretty big. Song and Denilson lack something in that regard.

I dunno about title because a ball is ye to be kicked but we're looking good.

i do normally respect your opinion's on transfers and players etc but to label Toure as a "fringe player" is a bit...untrue. He has been their rock for the last 8 years and didn't really regain his form since he had malaria but Arsenal fans i know say that even 80 percent Toure is one hell of a defender in the premiership!!

FOOTBALL SPY: Hello BigBon89, you make a good point but the fact is while in recent seasons Toure has been one of the first names on the team sheet, last season he could not get into the side for a long while even after he recovered from Malaria. It is the reason he put in a transfer request around Christmas time. It is also inconceiveable that Arsene Wenger would have allowed Toure to leave the club if he felt he could still make the kind of contribution to Arsenal's season that he used to.

Hi Darren, who am I to question Arsene but i dont think that they need him at all. He may provide a little more aerial presence but he wont be any more than a squad player. With all their injury issues last year, Arsenal where the second highest scorers behind Liverpool but conceded more goals than Fulham. Its plain to see where their problems are rooted. Plug the hole and you have a magnificent team.

Totally agree with your thoughts on Arsenal. Kolo, while great, hasn't been the same player since he contracted Malaria. Diarra would also be a great acquisition, but can't see him arriving from Real, since they will likely want silly money to balance the books a little.

Real Have nearly 40 players in their squad but they are only allowed to register 25 first team players for the season. After then they will have 15 players that they are paying wages for but arent any use. I can see Diarra leaving and Arsene will wait till the last minute to sign him so as not to get ripped off a la Arshavin. The man is a GENIUS!!!

Hi Darren, I was very glad to see Adebayor leave but kolo toure ws the backbone of our defence, however i am starting to agree with your view on kolo toure.

i would love to see huntelarr at Arsenal however after seeing carlos vela's performance in the gold cup final for mexico plus i think walcott is ready to step up to become a top class forward! i think diarra from madrid would be the solid man arsenal need to win the premier league, i also think we'll win the carling cup.
