  • Actually, Grandmaster Flash had nothing to do with this track. By 1984 Flash had left Sugarhill Records and departed with Melle Mel. Melle did this track with Sugarhill and they credited it to Grandmaster Melle Mel to cash in on Flash's name.

  • This is THE club song of the 1980s, no other being close. It is singularly responsible for myriad dates, couples or Heaven knows one night stands.

    NOBODY stayed seated when this came on. Boys & Girls (including club staff) that didn’t know each other many from entirely different countries would just go ahead and pair up, to cut a rug to this song.

    What happed after that, was up to them at the time.
