if you are going to compare them to a classic, the beatles is the most relevant. not saying they're as good... but, 2 singers / main songwriters. 2 different main vocal points from which they play back and forth. they all sing. they are all incredible musicians in their own right, much less together. they do their own recording, which in itself is extremely deserving of praise. also, one songwriter is more avant garde while one is poppier. it is the better comparison.
I like to think that you're not making a disparaging comment toward Grizzly Bear. They are the best American band out there right now. Really the best in ages. Radiohead hand-picked them for an opener. They know genius when they hear it.
Yeah, I suppose I shouldn't compare them to the classics, but it's rare these days to find a band that sounds this good, original, and seemingly still has room for improvement. Very unique indeed.
I was there :)

I agree. Grizzly Bear is going to be, if not already, the Pink Floyd/Beach Boys of our generation.

I think you guys are overreacting to a little joke. relax, i like grizzly bear too but I dont think they're the Pink Floyd of our generation....

Pink Floyd not nearly as much as The Beach Boys.
But neither captures them. The best way to put it is "they're the Grizzly Bear of our generation".
All 4 members are obscenely talented.
