  • @Lakerfansareghetto the bloke was oxy-lancing (broko cutting) in a primary crusher. There was stored energy behind the component he was removing. When he finished off, the stored energy overcame the forces that were holding it in and the gradual increase in force behind this component made it shoot out of the crusher at bullet speed - and good night nurse. I've heard rumours that the bloke survived it, although I must say that it is very difficult to believe that he did....

  • Alguien sabe si este hombre sobrevivio y que fue lo que origino la explosion? Soy inspector de soldadura.

  • Scary shit

  • We just did confned space trainging at work and the instructor showed u this and was claiming that fireball that shot out was the guys head

  • To BM 647...What did happen? I never seen this befor..

  • Damn...he just lifted his face mask...sad...he's fucked up.

  • he just got knocked out....hopefully!!!!!! :-/

  • I Agree with u Boltneck77 its horible to see what can happen if we ar not carfull. im studing to-become a deep sea welder and my father told me about the gass explosions and it freaks me out. And im very srry to see that guy getting cought in the explosion. and Nickv7141983 u are a dick! Feel some compasion! its rly sad to see!

  • @nickv7141983 go take a shower make your self real pretty and then go fuck your self you shit head

  • i know a guy who was wealding and his whole upperbody caught on fire and they had to use skin form his leg to put on his chest and he was terribly injured

  • Thank God the hole watch was able too jump in and help him, and also note how the other guys call for help right away!!

  • wtf??? did his head come off??

  • Is that dude a boilermaker? If so they should teach you about that stuff at the apprenticeship school...my heart goes out to that guy and his family

  • ya i have welding class at colton high

  • BOOM HEADSHOT!

  • @JavierWoelfelisaNigg fuck you and your rude comment that man is dead and you think your funny?

  • iam a welder too who ever thinks this is funny your fucking sick!!!! this sorta thing nearly happened to me whilst out on site its not fucking funny just thing about what your going to write before you write it!

  • Is that his acetylene tank exploding?

  • Is that his acetylene tank exploding?

  • @dlewjr no if it was the acetylene tank exploding there would have been a inferno and liquid flames every where he would have been covered in acetone and he surely would have been roasted

  • @dlewjr Naah....He wasn't using Acetylene...he was using a different process called "Oxy/Thermal Lancing" (brand name "broko cutter") which is a process that doesn't rely on the combustion of Acetylene.

  • Poor guy..He was doing a dangerous job for his family..I am so sorry for your loss..

  • My hats off to the guy who went in after the man thats just been hurt

  • What exactly happened dose anybody know?

  • @Zetorisbetter Yes,I can tell you what happened to him. I'm a Boilermaker/Coded Welder by trade. He was using a process called "Oxy Lancing" and a G.E.T was jammed in the crusher under load. When he gouged the material away with the lance, the stored energy behind it was released, and whack!! Out it flew. The funny thing is that apparently the bloke survived it.... I'm told that there was a video on YT that actually showed the injury when he was at hospital. But I never saw it, I didn't want to.

  • I want to make a cash donation to his surviving family. Can anyone provide any information?

  • #

Ascendotuum2010 -YOU are a stupid prick!!

  • holy shit man, i hope he is ok...

  • @Cryptocracyz101 It blew him apart. He's deceased from what I heard.

  • That was unexpected... It's been two years since this video uploaded... Is he still alive?

  • bro, thats terrible hope he recovers fine

  • there was no oxygen the heat was sucking it then add fire then its boooom

  • @Ascendotuum2010 who the fuk do u think u r? u think he did that on purpose, u are THE BIGGEST FUKING LOSER, i hope u expirience something like that so u can realize how fukin serious that was

  • @Ascendotuum2010 you fuking asswhole, that guy isnt a loser, the only loser i kno of is the one making fun of somebody being killed, y dont u go fuk urself, shit like that doesnt happen cuz "we didnt study" it happens all by accident, i no cuz i do it for a living, so how bout the next time u try to fukin sound cool, put urself in the guy's shoe u fukin jerkoff

  • @Ascendotuum2010 studied harder in school? welders make 20$ an hour and some welders can mke 80-100$ an hour, maybe you should do research about welders IN SCHOOL... jackass

  • @Ancient2008 Just to correct you, welders can make up to 250-$300 an hour, that is if your an underwater welder which is the most dangerous job in the world.

  • @calvinculpalt I thought coal mining, alaskian crab fishing or Iceroad trucking was the most dangerous jobs =P

  • @Ancient2008 Actually no. They are just funner to watch on TV. Would you wanna watch a guy weld underwater for an hour? It would be pretty boring.

  • @calvinculpalt dude you fucked up that shit isnt funny at all

  • @calvinculpalt yh welder is danger

but oxy-acetylene welding are most danger it can cuz huge BANG

  • @Ascendotuum2010 lol are you for real ? do you actually know how much welders have to study ? its takes 5 YEARS! to be a apprentice trained welder. we can earn enough money in 4 months to take the other 8 month off. i think u need to research before you let YOUR uneducated mouth go. welders uneducated ? thats the stupidest thing ive heard in a long time

  • @Ascendotuum2010 dude thats not cool he died show some respect fucking idiot

  • Man, my heart really goes out to his family. I had a lot of close calls in the 35 yrs. that I worked as a welder. Looks like his fire watch should have warned him about that flare up right after he stopped welding. That should have been a big red flag to the fire watch when the flare up sucked back. I don"t know, thuff call, I guess.

    Be careful out there guys!

I did that kind of work long enough. I work from home now. Hell, making more money now than I ever did as a welder.

    exelderguy out!

  • Im a boilermaker by trade also, and i have worked in blastfurnaces , and many other dangerous confined spaces... After seeing this video it only confirms to me how god damn dangerous it is and shit ive also done that i could of been in same situation.. It doesnt look like that guy made it out ... A big piece of metal burst off and hit . I dont think you could survive that ! Poor bloke !

  • What you have just witnessed is the dangers of working with a thermic lance.

  • that's fucking awful!!!! my mom says that I should look into welding as a career, well after seeing that shit no fucking thank you. I think I'll take my chances doing something else.

  • that shit scared the fuck outta me

  • I just wonder what caused it... Thermal stress? Pressurised pipe?

  • was there gas that called a blow out?

  • Holy crap!!

  • holy shit, the worst welding accident i had was a piece of slag burning a hole in my lip, not even close to that

  • No... He is not okay. You actually just witnessed a decapitation. This video is beginning to be used as a training video around the country. This is a hot-weld that went very, VERY wrong.

  • dude is he okay?

  • ...... :[

  • man that's crazy being a young welder myself i now understand how important safty is they should show this video in the OSHA safty training.

  • What happen..? I see the fire ball

  • i like the guys on top watching delayed reaction mch?

  • HAHAHAHA bladeliker you are a god damn moron

  • I'm a welder, and I really can say we have the realist trade under our belt. That could possibly be a day at the officecany given day.

  • What is he welding on?

  • would he survive that? and what went wrong, pressurized pipe?

  • Looks like he has a torch lit? I think the stuff he was cutting was next to a pressurized line.

  • omg... did he survive? Did he weld on a tank that had pressure in it?

  • @lawless8888 this is a rock crusher he is welding on.

have no idea what happened, but looks like he took a jolt.

  • it look like its welding stick maybe im wrong

  • die

  • @xxxrjun FUCK"S WRONG WITH YOU ASSHOLE?? THIS SHIT IS DANGEROUS AND SERIOUS.

  • If you look closely, the patch (square) he welded on, pops off because of the preasure behind it. Argon has nothing to do with what happened---maybe you missed that day in welding school.

  • he was not welding. he was cuttingwith a torch or possibly gouging. in all probability he was cutting with a torch. explosion was caused by an aceteline leak.

  • @biddle73 yeah you right, possible air arc

  • Definitely not a case of sheilding gas build up, he didn't pass out he blew up. Where is the gas detector? It looks to me like either methane or or a spark landed in a combustible, either way he's lucky to be alive.

  • was it the concrete ?

  • that guy acctually did live theres another vid. he had god watching over him

  • We actually use this video as part of our safety training.

    BM 647

    ND, SD, MN

  • hes not dead, his face was put back together, not 100 % , but still he alive

  • I'm a Boilermaker/Coded Welder, and yes unfortunately this kind of shit happens...It shouldn't, but it does.If the there had been an independent risk assessment (not a "company" one) before undertaking the task it probably wouldn't have happened and the poor bugger would probably still be alive. Difficult to see exactly what he was cutting but by the look of it, it was ignition of gas/explosion that got him. They should have purged the immediate locality with inert gas gas like Argon or Co2.

  • Comment removed

  • A buildup of argon will cause an explosion? Wow, better get this news out, I have been using that stuff for shielding gas for TIG, I didn't know it was explosive! Yeaaaahhhhh.

  • argon will not explode! its inert thats why its used as a shielding gas. and bladeliker your wrong about the argon thing your wrong to doubt boltnecks knowledge! i am trained in confined space hot work and rescue also a coded welder asme and BSEN standards! i know what im talking about!

  • argon is an inert gas... it is not explosive. that is why it is used as a shielding gas. the only destructive power argon has is to spoil milk. you have nothing to worry about.

  • @bladeliker Argon is INERT GAS...loosely translated, that means it is neutral. It will not explode, just like CO2 or Helium won't either...why?Because they're inert gases, they're neutral, but they can asphyxiate you. I wish people would go and learn about this shit before they shoot they're ignorant mouths off, it fucking shits me.

  • @Boltneck77 A container of compressed argon popping could have killed every person in that video. I think you meant to say that "Argon is inert therefor it will not form compounds(fuels) with other elements". Also, CO₂ is a very active compound.

  • @taystew, they're not called containers - they're cylinders. Yes you're right, a full, ruptured cylinder can kill because it would release the compressed gases rapidly, just like explosion - that's what explosion is. But it was stored energy that got him.He was using an Oxy-Lance for the removal of material, which suddenly released the crusher tooth because it had reactive forces behind it when released - stored energy. And whack! Out it flew, and it hit the poor bloke.

    Very sad & upsetting.

  • @bladeliker

Argon is an inert gas, it cannot burn.

Where the hell do you guys get your false facts?

  • There are no welding tanks in the zone & no reason to with 50 ft hoses.

Although I'd want a ten foot lance instead through a heat shield.

Very tragic. Prayers for this guy.

Lucky I was missed by main parts of exploding tank, and bench top held me back from being thrown out a window from blast.

  • @Boltneck77 that would have cost them more money! these cheap ass bastards today would rather a life be lost then spend the money to save one, u put their ass down therer and thats when jobsites start getting safe, im 16 almost 17 and love everything that has to do with welding (welding, tig, mig, stick, cutting, everything) and its a little nerve rackin knowing my life is in someone elses hands........

  • @Milby20289394bc I know buddy...I'm in the same trade & I've come close to being nailed under similar circumstances myself. It's appalling to see really sick, pathologically disturbed people get up and actually say horrible things about this like poor bugga like "he got owned"....and "fuck that guy". Honestly, that really is just sick, and those that are saying that should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. How could any decent, rational, human being have such little respect for human life?

  • @Boltneck77 Because people that have that to say about an injury in the welding trade should have their balls welded inside their mouths!!! Im a red seal welder and when you work with electricity, fire, ionized gas,and acetylene any injury is not cool!

  • Dude that isn't funny, I do the same thing for a job and I've nearly been nailed under similar circumstances...That's someone's family member you're looking at there...someone's brother or son. Seriously, I hope you can find it yourself to retract that tasteless inappropriate comment. That's terrible.

  • we need more good people in this world, ur a good person

  • @Boltneck77 Good strong reply buddy. Couldn't agree with you more.

  • @Boltneck77

    God Bless you!

  • @Boltneck77

I agree, that wasn't funny at all... I dislike people who dies doing what I do...

I'm sorry for this guy and his friends, family and so on...

A sad story that ended up on a sad site.

  • fuckin ass hole ... have some respect

  • sorry for him, how is he now ?

  • Not dead. On youtube look up "AMAZING Welder Loses Half his Face in Accident.avi" to see the before and after video of his facial reconstruction. The video is pretty disturbing but is a good safety reminder.

  • exacly combustion is the cos i done me confined spaces coarse this week n we was shown this video n for ppl askin if he survived or not no killed him istanly if u look closley u will see his head comein of and hang by a tendend

  • It looks like the gas tube were on fire. Something is hitting him in the head at 0:17

  • shotgun win? [god....]

  • he definately wasnt welding. he was probly using a heating torch. maybe a burning torch

  • i think he weld that thing a bit too hot :/

  • that shit went right through him,

  • Looks to me like he was using a thermic lance to remove a blockage probably a tooth from an excavator or loader and not welding, and some of the liner backing caught fire and popped.

  • Where's tillie? I hope she's alright!

  • the reason it blow up is cause it heat to much. and when u stop welding or countiue welding the air cools it down and poof

  • if thats the case after every weld why doesnt the pipe explode? your full of shit!! learn what your on about before you run your mouth on here!!

  • u are full of shit.. when the weld is kept to long the heat get to big to contain and when it get cooled down it release itself.. every weld isent hold on same spot for so long u damn fool.. u go learn something . so before u go out and open ur mouth u get ur info straight..

  • learn something?? if you looked at my name you may get a good fucking idea! you clearly dont know anything about welding. im a coded welder with some of the highest british and american standards possible!

Your reply doesnt even make sense, if you came up with a response which could be possible i would be able to help you and point out why it wouldnt happen like that. BUT clearly your an absolute prick with no clue about welding!

ALSO he is not even welding! he is using some oxy/fuel gear!

  • So does anyone really know what happend?? and if he died??

  • He died. It was a case of the coal dust in the air causing the explosion. The sad parts are that it was preventable and that the guy who rushed in to help probably got a ticking off for going in and not radioing it through to the rescue team.

  • bet you he didn't get in trouble as it is a confind space, and your spotter is not allowed in the confind space under australian mines regs

  • the guy on the right of the screen jumps on his radio i am pretty sure he is calling it in

  • he is alive there's a video

  • How come he died man? It doesnt even look at a big explosion of something, just some small explosion, like a fire cracker..

  • Wut happend?? left his acetylene oxy on?

  • wow, my husbnd is a welder looking at that clip only reminds me how these guys on a daily basis put their lives at risk. and us welding families know they DONT get paid enough $ to do work like this..... best wishes to the family and welder in the clip. i will think of them in my prayers...

  • @ccriderish wow, that just makes me wonder, cuz i just got certified stick and mig last year and im learning pipe welding, never knew family members looked at it that way.

  • @ccriderish

AMEN!! I don't do this type of welding, but occasionally I've had to do some fairly dangerous work. You can never let your guard down for a second because that's when accidents happen... I've had all the close calls I want to have...

  • @ccriderish welders get paid plenty

  • @emutiny we do alright, but for we do and what you need to know and the level of training we need.....we don't really. It's not an easy job. Trust me.

  • it happend in west australia, i'm lead to beleive he did survive, he was lancing out a tooth that got jammed in the crusher an for some reason there was still pressure on the hydroset. I'mtold the tooth became soft at the side were he was lancing and the pressure shot it out of the crusher. I do not know the person but work for the same company in the same area. i have heard of it in norsman and the fellow did survive but it was a much smaller crusher.

  • And yes, he is dead, the slag that just came free there probably took a good chuck out of him - Since you can see it pass right through him

  • Oxygen supports combustion, it is not combustible.

  • Plus, you don't keep your bottles that close to you anyways. That sucks, I hope the fucker that put him in that position had to break the news to his family (that's assuming he died).

  • holy shit

  • Looks like hes air arcing and something broke free. Hes definatley not welding. Possibly something was bound and under a great amount of pressure. He lifted his hood to see if he cut through completely and thats when the cut piece broke free. He should have never been put in that position by the higher ups.

  • well, he's dead.

  • did his head just fly off?

  • terrible...............

  • its probably because when he was welding one of the sparks of molten metal at about 4000 degrees hit his gas lead and ignited the oxygen, the whole tank didnt explode because the explosion would have killed all 4 of the people there, there is saftey on tanks that cuts of the flow with a washer preventing the whole bottle igniting

  • Oxygen doesn't ignite. Go turn on just the oxygen on an oxy-fuel torch and see how long it takes you to light just oxygen. Oxygen can make a flame hotter but it doesn't burn

  • oxygen keeps fire burning ..

    and it can ignite

  • Yeah oxygen keeps a fire burning but it can't ignite, it easily supports rapid combustion which is why most people think it burns, go turn on just the oxygen on an oxy-fuel rig, oxygen will not ignite without a fuel gas, if oxygen could ignite then why would you need acetylene, MAPP gas, propane, and other gases on an oxy-fuel rig

  • @dexter12322222222222

Oxygen won't ignite...it creates an ideal atmosphere for combustibles to ignite and burn.

  • im off on offshore oil rig in nov. just done me trainnin. heard of lots of people die this way

  • wat happend the top of tank exploded??

  • is he dead ?????????

  • very!

  • i saw this on TV. a piece of molton metal burned through one of his hoses.

  • all good guesses ; but on those big crushers sometimes rebar gets swisted and will jam the thing ; they are supose to release the hidrolick presure and then cut it out . some one f..ked up . so when he got it molton . the rebar was exploded out under the crushers rorce

  • it's like that cannon in unreal tournament

  • that was bad, never put oxygen around oil or grease, if it was oil pipelines something had gone terribly wrong

  • damn he looks like a suicide bomber...wat happened to him?i think he is welding now in heaven...

  • holy shit is he dead was that flashback of his torch

  • looks like he lost his life :( if only he didn't bend back down after he bent backwards briefly.

  • poor man jus lost his life

  • his he ok? like his he still alive? anyone know?

  • what happen? whatd the bottle explode er sumthing?

  • my welding teacher showed me that today for saftey reasons....damn

  • poor guy flipped his visor up at 0:17 just before the explosion.

  • oh jesus you can see his head fly off...sad sad stuff.

  • that was his helmet, but still a nasty bust of fire to the face.

  • holy shit

  • It was at copper mine and the welder was killed when the tooth from a loader/shovel came out. The tooth was jamming the crusher and when the welder cut through the tooth so it would pass through the crusher the energy was released from the crusher being in a bind and the tooth came out and took his head off.

  • what happen exacly?

  • DID HIS HEAD FLY OFF AT 0:19???!!

  • nope, it was his welding helmet

  • from what my welding instructor said, he did die from the impact of the explosion

  • We watched this video in my MSHA class. MSHA told us that the welder was performing a task that is done comely in a crusher. The crusher had a tooth that jammed up in it and they called him in to cut it out. There was so much pressure on that tooth that once he cut it, he relieved all that pressure causing it to pop off and injure him. That was the big orange ball you see flying out and injuring the welder.

  • Shit, and he took off his mask too!

  • DID HE DIE

  • holy crap

  • it looks to me like there was a build up of flamable gases that ignited from probably residue inside the machine he was cutting on, judging by the walls and what looks like some kind of grinder i would guess it is a coal mill so there was most likley a lot of coal dust in it but it is only a guess. so to all of you future welders take it from an old welder you need to beaware of your work enviroment!! and thank God for O.S.H.A.

  • We have just watched thisvideo in work as part of a health and safety course.I hope the guy was just knocked out, but we were told that the molten metal which you see shooting up in the air took the guys head clean off!! like i say i hope that was not the case!.

  • i think his mask just came off

  • hope that guy is ok, any thoughts as to what went wrong here?

  • KO!
