@sirpaisley Yeah, I can understand being picky in the recording situation, but i bet more than 60% of the picky people are just a bedroom player/dreamer .. like I am :-) But it's fine, since ppl have their own money to burn in their own way. It's just silly to hear ppl whine a lot about slight differences, then so-called boutique companies making profits out of it and laugh about it.. the jokes is on us. Just my opinion :-) cheers
It's funny to see how people too concerned about a slight differences between pedals, true bypass, cables, brands, et cetera... Imo, if you're ended up playing it thru od/dist pedal, with bass, vocals, drums.. and your other ignorance 2nd guitarist. Your fancy george l's cables 'HOLY TONE COLOR' is off the windows I wouldn't give a (pardon) fuck. Why the waste? It's not like ppl will care. just my quarter, Thank you :-)
@incongra It's simple: Most pedals which are grouped with similarly built pedals sound better and dont loose any tonal qualities. That's why they are both advertised.
@toddvandongen Some manufacturers of pedals now use a buffered bypass system, which preserve the guitar's tone. Some of these buffered bypass circuits actually sound better than true bypass circuits.
@incongra if you cared about your guitar TRUE tone then true bypass is for you. the more pedals you have that aren't true bypass the more you are CUTTING your signal of your guitar. Good guitar players hear the difference.
There are some mods out there to cure the "issues" this pedal has. A Univibe kinda pedal works with a light. Wich sucks a battery dead in minutes. So to help a lil the light is off when the pedal is off. This can be undone. But the pedal is then only useable with a powersupply. Just a preference...
There are allso trimpots inside wich can up the sweep of the univibe sound. Allso there is a pot or switch inside wich can increase the lightintensity. Together with some new alum. foil and it pops!
The effect only starts to work when the light reached it's full temperature. So it does not work right away. The Danelectro Chickensalad does not have it's internal light switched off when pressed OFF. But this means when on batteries it will run very short on a battery.
If you have a pedalboard and a powersupply then you can mod the Coolcat Vibe.
The Coolcat vibe has a metal enclosure. The Chickensalad does not.
@Muziekschuur01 Thank you!! Do you know how to modify it? With this modification I can get the immediate start as soon as I push the pedal as the other effect in the market?
it didn't really sound like it did awhole lot... i was hoping this pedal would be a good alternative to springing for a micro-vibe or deja-vibe... but i guess you get what you pay for

I'm pretty much a newbie, And so i bought this danelectro pedal just like this for 418 and wonder how do i connect it to my amp and guitar. Please help
thanks for yet another great demo.. i've been checking out a lot of this kind of thing lately and i have to confess i now include 'gearmanndude' as a search term.
Probably for most use, the delay isn't noticeable, but if you are trying to nail a shift in tone at an exact spot, it might not hit it. Just curious as to why Dano couldn't get it to engage in real time, as it does w/ Chicken Salad. Sounds good, and you can't beat the price, versus some of the booteekies out there.
i'm a big fan of true vibrato too. however, the only ones i know of are somewhat pricey... check out the vox cooltron, and carl martin. both have vibrato + tremolo. they'll both set you back about 150$ though. please pm me if you find a cheaper alternative.
Hello, I just received the same pedal , but mine worked 2 minutes and after it broke down... When I engage it and I turn the pots , I hear a hum coming from the pedal in my amp, sort of tremolo, just like the pedal was working but there ain't no input signal. Can you help me ? Or I send it back to the shop ?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
dude, you should get your money back, all ive ever heard about danelectro pedals is how they break after a couple minutes. if i were you i would send it back and get a dunlop rotovibe.
blupup8 has valid points. it's more expensive to engineer new cases, but still cheap right now cause it's in China. Here's the deal. Dano wouldn't sell crapola without a gimmick. It's not a "sea shell" it's a Cat's Paw. As in Cool Cat. They always had a gimmick, 50s cars with the first Daddy-o, the stupid fast food mini things, and now this cool cat stuff. It's corny but tone wise this last line is very very good. The drive pedals work very well in live situations.
I agree, just sold my transparent overdrive which sounded decent just because I couldn't see the buttons live. And I hate dual concentric pots, i mean I couldn't even get them right at home never mind live. A standard enclosure would be miles better because these are great sounding pedal for the price.
Couldn't you just take the guts out and put it in your own enclosure? Still cheaper than the equivalent and you can put a DPDT switch on it? Unless the pots are integral to the board which would make it very difficult...
Also, I should add that the phrase "Hammond style enclosure" means Chinese made equivalents. I have bought some 1590B & BB's that I use for my own pedals I make and sell.
Secondly, knobs go on top and don't cost much to be proper "MXR style" or other in bulk.
It's about basic design. The Cool Cat design is too low at the switch end and has out of reach knobs you can't read.
My Belcat delay pedals are silk screened, have rectangular enclosures and proper knobs on top.
I must have gotten a bad one, when I crank the mix knob up it disappears. Like turning the mix all the way down. You cranked yours up and it got stronger. Looks like I got a bad one. Guess back to the store it goes for another one. QC missed mine.
mine does the same, actually it seems to depend on how much gain Im using with it. I dont like how it adds a bit of fuzzy gain, which may or may not be connected to the boost issue. I dont mind the boost, but make it stop sounding farty!
Mine does the same thing. It also sounds terrible if I play with other pedals in line with it. Muff and overdrive pedals, before or after this vibe, creates like a .... breaking glass sound when I first touch the strings. It's like a ridiculously aggressive sounding crash, followed by a mellow rotating sound. I hate it. By itself it's decent, though.
I work for a DANo dealer and we sell ALOT of the cool cat and Fab pedals to our students the a inexspencive and sound AMAZING! the pedal board is a real bargain too comes with power and connecters
