Americans don't understand climate change because they haven't had to feel it personally (except Katrina) and/or they don't understand chemistry.

Climate change isn't just about warming, so debating heat won't get you far. CO2 also changes the pH of water (again, chemistry). With water at higher acidity, coral can't form. Climate change is just part of the Earth's natural cycles. We cannot stop it. And it would be egotistical to assume we can and are the cause of it. The ice caps of mars are melting faster than our own. In the future we're just going to have to do more with less land. Unless of course antartica thaws out.

I heard the average temps of the caps is 50 below zero annually which is 80 degrees below freezing, for two months of every year its 12 above freezing where some melting occurs, I dont get what all the hoopla is about, if its 40 degrees hotter annually its STILL 40 degrees BELOW freezing and if its hotter during those two months (at less of an exagerated rate) it will melt as it always does and returns. Even a 5 degree difference affects nothing out of the norm.
