Correct mischievous666, it is like a 4 cylinder engine crank shaft.

As for the speed, I wanted it to be fast. The video is in real time. I choose a design with low friction so it could run fast.

The black axles connect to the 2x2 bricks with a round brick that has a plus shaped hole in the center that the axle slides into. The upper axles (the ones not part of the crank) go through two technic plates with holes in them spaced one brick apart. This was done to reduce friction while keeping the axles moving in just one dimension.

i have tried so many times! i cant figure out the part in the middle, like the part that hooks up to the bricks... i suk at theses kind of things, and ur good at it, plz make another movie or explain the middle part, (the middle part where the black thing hooks up with the top piece that hooks up with the brick) :P

Can it have more marbles? Three is about the limit. The problem is that the tracks start to separate if there is too much weight on them. Then the marbles fall through.

A few people have asked if I have instructions on how to build it. I don't. You just have to take a close look at the video.
