I think I might be breaking rank with you on this one, Cenk. The complete ease of the previous administration to get away with this kind of stuff is why we need to come down, and come down hard. It's a change in administrations, and our chance to put our foot down. Obama deserves to be applauded for his ethics rule, but the press should hold the right to delve as deep as they possibly can. Most people who hate on socialism don't even know what it is, they just think its bad becuase guys like Rush tell them it is. The USA has always had some socialist policies such as public schools, publicly owned air ports, and other government funded programs.
A purely capitalistic society heavily favors the wealthy, making class change all but impossible. The middle class would be phased out and you'd be left with the rich and the poor, something the republicans would love.

I am happy to live in a country where if i get sick, ill, disemboweled etc., i do not have the threat to refinance my mortgage to cover the expenses. Free health care has its downsides (wait times), but the perks far out way the cons!!

Have anyone noticed that America's educational, judical and polical system has gone down since Reagan? America has fallen behind in every field. Manufactory productivity has fallen, corruption has risen, especially on Wallstreet and in board rooms. Yes more millioniars were made, but the middle class has disappeared, cities have become ghost towns. Obama sees this with a clear vision to improve this condition, yet you let people like Rush L. label it as socialism then you run from the truth.

furthermore, policies are not made by the president exclusively...the president has an agenda...but policy makers, lobbyists, corporations and grass roots movements determine policy. most real "change" in the US has been from grass roots movements that gained so much traction, they couldnt be ignored by the halls of power.
example...LBJ didnt come up with the civil rights act, he was pressured by grass roots groups until not having policy makers write the act became politically detrimental.

I used to play a string insturment. You can't play it in that kind of weather. It didn't even occur to the players to inform the public, because even if it is not common knowledge that temperature affects stringed instruments it is still pretty obvious if you stop to think about it.

Lobbyists pretty much run the country. But this doesn't change with Obama.
Obamas I already pointed out a couple of dozen times that the bulk of his campaign money (600 mil) was payed by financial institutes and law firms.
Are they "donating" that money for the good of the people? Or for their own interests?

Well that's where you are wrong, Cenk doesn't have a clear self-image of himself. He doesn't know that he is biased so he doesn't try to hide it.
Fox News knows that they are biased. Their political agenda is very clear and they take good care of what they say and don't say.
Cenk is more honest and straightfoward, but just as biased.

I think I might be breaking rank with you on this one, Cenk. The complete ease of the previous administration to get away with this kind of stuff is why we need to come down, and come down hard. It's a change in administrations, and our chance to put our foot down. Obama deserves to be applauded for his ethics rule, but the press should hold the right to delve as deep as they possibly can. Obama, at the very least, needs to hold a press conference to answer these questions.

I wish he would not have even have said it was a rule. Maybe a guideline. I only have a hard time because war profiteers shouldn't be dictating war policy. We're not talking about the former CEO of Edison Schools in the Education Dept. No, this is a company that made money off of this illegal war we're in. I fucking LOVE President Obama but I think he was foolhardy to set himself up for the fall and even moreso now he has to walk the line he painted for himself. We didn't paint it.

I believe Obama will get away from many things because people don't value the constitution as much any more. They believe "justified" excuses but the constitution was partly made to protect us FROM the gov't themselves. The founding fathers understood what would happen if these specific laws were not put in place. I guess we might learn the hard way.
