because it protects the tendons and stuff in the horses legs, and because she is such a talented comp horse, im sure she would rather use boots then to risk her horse injuring its leg(hitting the poles), and not being able to compete at those heights ever again.. and its support for landing etc.. so she doesnt bust anything then as well.. hope that answers it for you :)

When a horse lands from that height with the added weight of the rider it puts immense strain on the horses tendons. Putting boots on would help even out the landed over the leg instead of just one spot, witch could lead to a blown tendon. Knocking the pole with the lower leg could lead to the splint being damaged and unsightly splints. MOST people don't use them while jumping as they think the more the horse hurts its self the more care full it will be jumping.

um... normal tendon boots don't support the leg except maybe minimally. and open tendon boots (which are the most popular) don't protect the leg from hitting the pole either. they are designed to protect the tendons from the hits of the other legs. i think the biggest problem with boots is that the horse learns to be less careful with his feet as it doesn't hurt if theyre clumzy and the fact that the boots can overheat the legs which can lead to tendon injuries etc.

lovee this horse, but its amazing what youve done wiht her, it really is :) as for the weighht, youll have no problemm, shes doingg fab, i spent all last year worrying about my mares weight, but there was nothing that would get it on, and it is just they way she is... its taken 6months box rest to get a bit on herr aha ;)
