  • It's too much, the original had just enough finger picking to make it amazing but too much finger picking makes it sound to "busy?"

  • Really great!!! Love it.

  • A really nice version...nice to see it done a little differently.

  • YEAH, SIMON YOUR GOOD DUDE.

  • Well done Simon. I realy do like this new version. Nice effect too.

  • Simon, epic playing.

I listen to your version on an almost daily basis. I love how you've made this classic your own, in an incredibly smooth, and elegant fashion.

    Keep it up.

  • Best cover of this classic on the Tube.

  • Hey "NOODLES" you play it!!!!!!!!!

  • I liked it, great job. Effects and all.

  • beautifully played - don't apologize for staring, the fingering is very intricate. How talented you are : )

  • very good.....people forget that if that was in a studio it could adjusted to perfection which it is very close to now....the effect is great...it's got a slap back almost like chet atkins slapping his nylon strings and making them buzz a bit...what kind of guitar is that and what effect box...i assume there's a pickup in the guitar itself.....

  • what kind of guitar?

  • AWESOME PIECE MAN!!! i feel a little lindsey buckinham flavor in it.. but it might be the effect... keep being creative and let nobody stop you, love it!

  • I like it a lot. I think the effects add a nice dimention. Don't look so serious though. Also, I like your guitar. I have the same one.

  • really enjoyed this, and your extra bits too .. good job!

  • It's very good!

  • I agree with crackshots, very well played, but the delay is killing it. Could step it down a bit, still, better than I could do, nice job.

  • You have a lot of talent there my friend

  • excellent simon

  • very soulful, love it!

  • absolutely brilliant man. i would love to hear this without reverb.

let me know if you put that online.

i would almost fucking pay you.

  • Well done! Your playing stands on its own, so maybe a little less reverb needed. Keep playing, you have a talent there.

  • nice fingering at 1:05 but you don't have to flip us the bird, it's not polite.

  • IT's awesome and you're a great guitarist. I'm not really diggin' the effects that much. They kinda cheeseball it up. No offense, I just think the bare audio file would sound more mature. :) But good work man, I love your version.

  • really cool playing, but you kind of ruined it staring into my soul like that

  • wtf

Stilll loving it. Love to hear you play!. specially Lindsy B Songs :P

  • ACE. GREAT PLAYING

  • Stonecold face.. I LIKE IT ! :)

  • You made a classic your own.....nice job!

  • I thought this was really, really good. I'd like to hear it with a stereo ping-pong delay and a little dryer. No complaints though, tremendous song! Keep it up!

  • VERY NICE! :-)

  • i agree with crrackshot. grease is for helping the flow. not makin a mess.

  • I'm Impressed. Good Job. i like it

  • turn the delay off!!!!

  • Amazing! I love it!!

  • Excellent playing,,,,better than Mason Williams

  • The guitar is a Godin. Look it up, amazing possibilities.

  • dude what kind of guitar is that?

  • It was great. I like it so much. The best interpretation that I've ever been heard

  • Awesome!! Do NOT Change how you have your settings,,, That's what makes your version sooo unique & awesome!

  • I love it, and i love you as guitarplayer..

  • amazing. nice blusee version. i do that staring thing when i play lol. creeps people out and i dont notice im doing it coz im just concentrating :D

  • thanks

  • don't like the effects ,too but good cover! it's your own version of it and it's a really nice on !!^^

  • I agree with the comments about the reverb, but wow! What a great interpretation of a classic! Enjoyed it very much; loved the extra hammer-on's, pull-offs and other dynamics you put into it.

  • @fingerstalking That's due to the delay I think, it makes it sounds like there is more than he's playing.

  • all i can say is that this to me was a beautiful moment spent listening to a piece of music beautifully performed, i wish i had even a 10th of your talent.

  • This was really enjoyable and this Mason Williams song has been a long time favorite of mine. You added nice touches that reminded me of the guitarist from Fleetwood Mac. I think it would be even more powerful if you were standing up and getting physically into the song as well. To me that would help emphasize the uniqueness and difficulty you added to the song. Great job! Thanks.

  • the bests ever i heard ;-) Greetings from Germany . make further in such a way

  • the bests ever i heard ;-) Greetings from Germany . make further in such a way

  • I like this version. As with most of the well played versions, its hard not to try to tap time/ counterpoint with it. Tried to listen to the Apr.9 (09?) version but there was an error. There is a scratchy timbre to some of the strings but I think that's probably just the recorder mic... Well done!

  • I was reading some of the comments here, my goodness is there ever a lot of controversy over whether to use FX or not or if he added too many trills, etc. I thought that was the idea, to play with a song to have fun, try new things out. I think it was wonderfully played and I really enjoyed listening to your version. Thank you for sharing it.

  • Improved is right, love your spin on this tune. Anyone can regurg the original, you made it yours.

  • insane =]

    you kick ass man!

  • I don't want to see your hairy, bare leg. Apart from that good job!

  • way cool bro

  • agree with crackshot, fx ruins it great efford though :)

  • awesome playing

  • nice skill bro but ease up on trills

  • too much delay u faggot

  • you rock

  • Yeah, with a bloody good guitar like that you don't need effects. Even so that's a very good performance mate. Very good indeed. I'd pay money to come and see you play anytime.

  • looks like a "godin"... not so much an improved version .. but close to the original .

  • Very Much So ! Interesting guitar too...what is that thing?

  • @TheVeryMuchSoShow

it's an ovation... not sure which year

  • wonderful rendition of this great song. your an angel!!!

  • Nice rendition, on a scale of 1-10 it's a 9

  • beautiful song.tanks

  • This song has always been in my Top 5, and after hearing your version I can't even think of my other four. You have done something to an already perfect song, and made it .......#1. Thank you!!!

  • Beautiful. Thanks for posting that.

  • awesome playing good version

  • this version has soul, nice job!

  • osoom

  • yeah!

  • glad you took up the guitar cause you have so much talent.... its a joy to watch.

  • Dude, That is great. Thanks for playing for us!

  • looks like all those hours of practice paid off. Excellent job! Love the flairs.

  • this is good one

  • Lovely :D

  • great job but why the ca-ca face?

  • @ralphisgutz try to play that without a funny face -_-

  • esto es mierda edito la candion y le puso delay.

  • Amazing!!!

  • well done. have made enough changes to keep the feeling of classical gas but have truely made it your own brother.

  • very good playing

  • @thedoolz thanks a bunch

  • Chet would be proud !!

  • awasome, thanks - was a nice 3 minutes

  • you should try playing the song dry (without the fx) it might sound way nicer, the fx almost ruins your great effort.

Id love to see another version of this mate

  • never mind what everyone else thinks.....this is a good version ......and I enjoyed very much

  • sound great

  • Great work!

  • plays very good thanks

  • improved version, yeah right.

  • I think you might have misunderstood. he has an older version that is not as good as this .

  • excellent..very good technique

  • GREAAAAAAAT !!

  • very nice

  • Love it, Thank you!

  • i love your version- awesome!

  • AMZING

  • Why Delay?

  • because it sounds awesome ;)

  • Dont like the echo

  • still love you hahaha..

  • I think it sounds pretty damn cool with the echo. Keep up the good pickin', I like it.

  • adding he echo is awsome idea

  • That was really very nice to listen too. I have added it to my favorites....I really like your take on this song. The eighth's and sixteenth run arpeggios are a nice add to a great song!

  • pretty much exactly the same, song just a few notes are changed

  • Goose bumps.

    Nothing tops hand made music.

  • Don't let the negative comments bother you dude, you did a great job. The negative comments came from people that can't play chopsticks on the piano let alone something like you did. Keep it up.

  • Wish I had half of your talent.

  • i thik it's good

  • Comment removed

  • Dont like the echo-thingie, but your playing is good ;-)

  • Veri nice to me. Thanks!

  • very nice but pliz get rid of the resonance and play it clean...I love your middle bit..

  • Cool :) keep it up mr!

  • Effects killed it (killed meaning not good O_O).. and umm, just put that you made a new version, you can't improve the song man, and you know you can't!

  • its grate. how long are you playing it?

  • i like your version

  • dziuku only a few people can play alot of notes wid 1 finger, like me but its rather unusual somepeople think its rather hard to use the ring finger and the pinkie,

  • Sorry I could not listn to it all, the effects and sound was terrible but up to where i stopped listning you nailed it good :) And FIX THAT STRING! LOL :)

  • sweet x

  • put on some pants!

    annoying effects well played tho

  • awesome version, you nailed it mate

  • The effects was super annoying! But goood played.

  • Another thing... how do you kids even know that such things exist? That song was a lifetime ago. I thought it was as dead as last year's squashvine until I ran across this cover.

  • Great job. I was in high school when Mason Williams hit the airwaves with this song back in 1968. A flatpick guitarist until then, it was the first song I really learned to fingerpick on. And, I'm sure that I never got it as good as you.

  • you play a lot with one finger -_-

  • The effects make it sound much cooler than it is, but great playing anyway! :-)

  • lol tru but were would most guitarist be if they did have fx lol

    like that cunt from u2

    and tom morerro

  • im getting new cam on sunday so will post vid

  • This version is wonderful! The dealy idea is excellent!

  • love it.

  • From one guitar jockey to another...Well done,I like the delay, it adds a very nice element.

  • very good job

  • I think it's cool he tried using effects in the song, but I think it sounds better acoustically.

  • Awesome

  • sweet playing dude no joke u rock

  • damn this is tight dude by far the best version i've evr heard of my favorite song. tight bro

  • Improved? it's just more difficult.. you just can't improve Mason W..

Anyway.. this is nice! 5 stars!

  • i meant improved on the first version i did

  • twat

  • how mature

  • its not difficult its called an effects pedal

  • It is also different

  • Jealous?

  • Bravo

  • you make it look so easy.

  • What can I say... excellent job. well done

  • Hello Simon,

I think it´s the best version of Classical Gas you can find in the internet. Well done. I like it very much. It´s a great pleasure to listen to you.

    Thank you Simon

    So long

    Peter from Munic Germany

  • Mate...must have watched this 50 times and played along with ya. Best version on youtube apart from Tommy E head butting his mike! Well done mate..very cool

  • DAMN BOY! You are hot with that guitar! You do a fine job with an old classic. I'm an old fart who remembers that tune being played with the Saturday afternoon movie...........Pre-cable. Keep up the good work Dude!!!

  • thankyou!!!!

  • absolutely brilliant!

  • I always prefer "CG" on solo guitar alone without an orchestra, and your version is excellent. Thanks very much for posting it:). BTW, what kind of guitar are you playing here? Just curious --

  • Hi Simon....saw you on this tonight...and thought what a talented young player:) and singing too..nice man..

please check my playing out too...tell me what you think...do a bit on mandolin...cheers

  • You're version is most excellent. I like it better than the composer's. Well done and Thanks so much for posting.

  • Really enjoyed your version. Terriffic job.

  • Yes I like it! Clapton is great But I like your version better. You rok. Thanx!

  • Mason Williams is the composer

  • angry german kid grown up?? :P

    slick dude!

  • thats cool dude

  • *thumbs up*

  • A classical piece repeated in classical form! Dude you are great!

  • hows about a lesson! i kno the original ill love to play your version!

  • Wow! Great balance and tones. Very nice to listen to. Terrific timing.

  • Like the others. I really like this version. It is fresh and easy to listen too. Great tempo and tone. Keep doing it with the new sound.

  • great! U R new TE :)

  • nice improvisation on some of the little licks and parts.. awesome sound you created with that metal/echo effect :)

  • good sound...that guitar looks sick

  • Sounds good. In my opinion you took the very beginning parts too fast. Or maybe I just take it too slow, who knows.

Other than that, good job bud.

  • Oo wow...

  • Clapton never recorded this tune. Mason w Williams recorded both versions.

  • nice version, and yes i like it! :)

  • this video rocked my socks right off. litterally. i heard this, then my socks just shot off my feet. my cat saw this and he sprang into attack mode. he ate the sock and i had to take him to the vet. the vet said "sorry sir, we are gonna have to put him down, noway to save him" then i cried and cried, and the only thing that gave me comfort was the beautiful sound of your rendition of my beloved classical gas.

    i love you.

  • Can I find the 'tabs' somewhere from this version ? Can I find it on your facebook account, then I will register there :) !

  • you can't improve the improvable
