I've mixed feelings for the titles. Shadowrun SNES is a great game, but Shadowrun Sega is closer to the 2nd edition Pen and Paper game. Both are a lot of fun but over the years of playing shadowrun with a group of friends, I lean towards the Sega version more because of it.

Actually, The Matrix, Shadowrun, and basically the entire genre we call cyberpunk was heavily inspired by William Gibson's novels, namely his book Neuromancer, published in 1984 - way before this game, and the Matrix. He also wrote the short story Johnny Mnemonic, on which the feature film was based.

BEST GAME EVER. PERIOD. I'm just baffled by Microsoft. Somebody is severely brain-damaged to hold on onto such a gold mine of loyal fans and..and..come up with a f*cking FPS??? I would by an XBOX and i would pay big bucks for the game if it resembled anything of this and/or Sega version. Btw, never played on SNES and this does look different.

To add confusion, there was also a Sega Mega CD version of the game which was also completely different. I've played both Genesis and SNES versions, and IMHO, the SNES version is 1b times better.

This game was much better than the Genesis version. Part of what made the game so great was the music. Unfortunately, that's lacking in this video. Sorry, you need the Shadowrun music.

oh man the weeks of my life i lost to this class game...so worth it. The new fps shadowrun looks shite. Why did they make the sequel completley different? A new Shadowrun in the vein of the original would be fukkin uber. Got the convertor and a US copy of it...top game. Drake was a total cunt lol. I may break out my snes this weekend and have a razz.  16 bit era is the best. Nice music too, what are the bands?

I've still got my original SNES and Sega Genesis with Shadowrun cartridges for both systems. The Sega Genesis version is still my most favorite game of all time, and I've played thousands of games for the PC and numerous consoles. The hacking/cyberspace in the Sega Genesis was great.
