DameDiadoblique: I think where you misinterperted his answer was in the response "militarism won" not "military won". Of course Ralph Nader is educated enough to understand the importance of military however he also understands the constant threat you impose on yourself by improper use of military. Militarism is what he was reffering to. The poor and impractical use of our military.
The US has a voter turnout of about 55%. If those who feel that their votes won't make a difference decide to vote for the Independent party, then things will start to change. Even if the party doesn't win, the increasing votes will send a strong message.
This morning, Oct 2, Democracy Now! had a good segment on the debates and the bipartisan commission that organizes them. You can watch/listen the 15 minute segment anytime from their website (starting at about 29:37 minutes): democracynow(dot)org
It also addresses how the debate would have been like regarding the bailout if all candidates had been there.
Ralph Nader should be 3rd party to take controll of the debate "NO FREE PASS" FOR EITHER CANDIATE BE A LEADER OR FOLLOWER! WHO DO YOU CARE TO BE IN THE WHITEHOUSE, SOMEONE WHO CAN TAKE CONTROLL A BE A LEADER OR A WIMP THAT WILL JUST FOLLOWS AND ACT LIKE A LEADER?
Nader needs to wake up and stop demonising green energy. There is a very good reason everyone supports Nuclear. Nader is living in the past, when people didn't understand what the real environmental issue would be.
I don't know a lot about Nuclear energy. But doesn't it produce depleted uranium? Isn't that a deadly poison for which there is no safe method of disposal?
Well the American way to "safely" dispose of depleted uranium is to use it in our weapon systems. We have been doing this for many years in Iraq, Bosnia and Kosovo. Who cares if its half life is 4.46 Billion years? Its not in our back yard! Isn't war great?
Want more info? Search for depleted uranium munitions in Wikipidia.
These two candidates are not acceptable, not only for their corporate commitments but by their sheer lack of substance. We should strive to promote a third party alternative debate on national TV and this race, and this country would inevitably change.
If you're on the ballet in enough states to possibly win the presidency, you should ABSOLUTELY be in the debates, no questions asked. Republicans and Democrats are afraid of Ralph Nader and other third party candidates because they realize if the American people are allowed to hear them speak, they'll lose this election. If the Democrats or Republicans don't win, corporate greed and corruption lose, and the only people that win are us, the American people (and the world). DEMAND Open Debates!
People if you vote 3rd party this is the best way to defeat the NWO. Ralph is the greatest always telling the TRUTH this is why I am voting for him again. I would rather vote for a candidate that is everything I want and stands up for what I believe, even if he looses. I will not have voted for a Candidate that does not represent me and is criminal that will betray me & the people! Death to the oligarchy!!!!
None of it matters any more. We're finished anyway.
Visit the Army Mil news, Army Times and DOD websites and learn all about the rumors concerning Martial Law beginning Oct. 1st in the US.
Look up Operation Vibrant and the Defense Media Activity which will change the way the Defense Department gets news, entertainment and information to servicemembers and their families beginning when? 10/01/08 of course.
Trevor Lyman is the man who organized the Ron Paul money bombs. he wants to hold a third party debate in New York City. So, we all need to support Lyman's push for an alternative debate now. If Lyman gets 10,000 pledges by October 8, he and the other sponsors will organize a debate in New York City. Add your name to the pledge list.
if the 60% of Americans who are dissatisfied with this undemocratic election process would do the same as you (boycott the duopoly debate) the corporate owned medias may get the message
This is what I don't understand about this whole Ralph Nader business. "Who won, the military won..." WTF? So is Ralph Nader against the troops? Hell, I know both parties are bad on the war but don't slam people who volunteered to fight for our country regardless what party ends up in the white house.
Or maybe I just don't understand something about him. Someone please explain that to me know because it just appears to me that Ralph Nader slammed the troops and that's not right.
Of course Nader didn't slam the troops. He fights FOR the "Troops" consistently. He demands medical and education benefits for veterans and cutting the wasteful, cost-plus budgets of the pentagon.
Our US Military Machine spends annually, more of our tax $ than the rest of the Planet's nation's military budgets... combined!
That's a fact you can look up in many resources and see.
If half our $ goes to warmaking, what is the focus and outcome of our direction?
if only the corporate owned media would allow his voice to be reached by people, the people would learn a lot and would stand up for their rights.
i am surprised that people are not on the streets of every city protesting this bailout until Bush holds those who put us in this situation responsible (fire them, put em in jail, teach em a lesson that they can not betray the people)
Let me tell you who"slammed the troops"or tell you where to look. You will find all the "slammers"living a comfortable life around the nations Capital. The Democrats and Republicans who don't lose any sleep at night as young men,and women are either killed or wounded being ripped in pieces filled with holes their bodies smashed with deadly IED and other crude materials in a foreign land every long day.Hey don't forget the native population suffering along with the troops.Goddamn you cowards in DC
Dame, 60% of Americans are dissatisfied and want a better choice.
the problem is lack of unity, i have said it over and over (falls on deaf ears) that we (the 3rd party supporters, independents, green, progressive, etc ) need ONE candidate to win or we are all going to be miserable for another 4 years. even though recently there was a gathering of all third parties, each of them still have their own candidate, none with enough votes to exceed the two party duopoly.
Alright I admit I need a chill pill. I think the debate finally put me over the deep end, and this constant psycho babble from the talking heads of the MSM, via T.V. or Radio for the last year have caused my brain to bleed. Good thing is I haven't had a T.V. since I was 18 so the damage could have been worse. Sorry for the freak out nothing personal, and Ralph is calling his party the Peace party which I really like.

As individuals in our society, we have waited to be affected by injustices in order to act. We have looked away many times because the wrong doing wasn't against us. There are too many injustices in our civilized society, and it is our duty to correct them for the benefit of all and future generations.
3rd parties are so important for pushing issues. Without them, we see terrible things happen like... oh, say... a $700 billion dollar bailout because neither Republicans or Democrats were interested in regulating the financial industry until now, which Ralph has been advocating for years. It just goes to show that you can't use logic and reason with the average voter. They need to be punched in the face before they start to listen.

Nader hit the nail on the head.
The only thing that won the debates were the military industry and the corporations as the 2 parties supported corport bailouts, military expansion, continued occupation in Iraq, increased war in Afghanistan, exanding the war on terror in Pakistan, overhyping the threat of Ira, expanding NATO to E.Europe to provoke Russia, unconditional anual military aid to Israel etc.
