WOW. I mean, I knew VQ Sentras were pretty fast, and could beat alot of cars well above their weight class, ...but DAMN. I've had my fair share of LS1 rides and those things are beasts: the torque seems like it'll never stop, and THEN you hit the next gear and the experience gets put on "repeat"...so i can't help but think if the T/A had 3 or more passngrs. in it, and/or the VQ had a few bolt-ons.

I'm gonna say it's an automatic or a shitty driver also... Good race and props to both... I have a 1999 T/A that looks identical with a 6-speed, it dyno'd 295 horse and 314 torque to the ground 100% bone stock, through a paper filter, in 100 degree heat and 80% humidity... I know its a heavier car and all, but shoulda been a closer race... Maybe some more vids? From a dig next time! :)

@o3spec And weight for weight. Mostly weight for weight. LS engines are pretty much still the best street motor to use in any swap. They've proven themselves well enough throughout the years. VQ motors are beast too though. What weighs less, an LS1 or a VQ?

Ha either the Pontiac was a base model or he didn't know you were trying to race. I find it hard to believe a four-door four-cyl Sentra can walk on a two-door car with an engine nearly 3x its displacement. Sentras are sporty and fun but they aren't fast.

not all trans ams come with the ram air hood, its an addional package, my buddy has a 01 ta without the ram air hood, but personally i would take the ta over the sentra, and it not because i used to own a ls1 ethier ;)

Just to clear the air out of the sake of honesty, I'm the owner of the 2000 Firebird/Trans Am you see in this video and it does have the LS1, 5.7L pushing 320HP, 343 lbs torque and is all stock. It's got 112,300miles on it. I take my hat off to that Sentra Spec V, it deserves full respect.
