I have a shitty pc myself and play Half Life 2 on high settings with a good frame rate but I know how to config my computer to push it to the max.

Back in 2007, I couldn't run STALKER on my machine at that time but I bought it anyway. Took six months before my budget allowed me to have a new rig built. Six months between the time I bought it and the first time I played it (aside from a short test run on a friend's rig).

I also had a really messed up sky, whenever you looked at something then looked at the sky it would stay there and whenever you moved it would repeat. But I changed it to windowed mode and that somehow fixed it.

Dude, just switch to Static Lighting and then MAX out all the other settings. Its how i run. I've got a similar system. AMD 3200,1GB RAM, 7600GS. May not be as pretty as the DX9 rendering, but atleast there is no lag :)

There are a lot of differences between Stalker and Oblivion. Stalker is based in a post-apocalyptic world in the near future and is a survival game, not an RPG. If you kill something, you don't get experience, there are no levels. Also, there is the backpack menu (item menu, whatever you call it.) which is set up similar to the Diablo backpack menu, you can only carry what can fit in. In oblivion, you just carry however many pounds you can carry. Just a tidbit of differences for you.

EXCEPT for when i put dynamic lighting on, it runs like a slideshow and gets artifacts everywhere. maybe something with vista does that for me :/ ive read that its buggy in vista but havent had that many bugs for it

Uso coolbits forceware y desde el propio panel de Nvidia te deja cambiarla, mi grafica llega maximo a 540/960 pero la bajo bastante de core y no muxo de memos por la temperatura

Game is alright, takes a while to get used to...Though I have yet to figure out how to join a faction. I don't see what's so special about the graphics...I have it set to the highest setting (maximum), and it's nothing special. Pretty damn fun though.
