  • that look like fun

  • Imagine sliding down the track. That would been fun to use it as water slide.

  • So heres the deal. Knoebels has taken the ride off of all its lists online because they are tired of getting questioned about the ride. I can tell you though that the ride is still standing so I am assuming that they are still trying to get it to work, but right at the moment they are more focused on and concerned with getting the Black Diamond open for opening day this year. So will there be a new coaster this year for Knoebels... Yes.... Will the FlyingTurns be one of them... time will tell

  • due to open this year (YES!)

  • @MrRickroll321 well they have been saying that every year since they started the project. I live only a few minutes from the park and work there in the rides department. After looking at their website the ride has been removed from their price lists and is not listed anywhere on the website. I can tell you though that it is still standing, and that we are all hoping for this coming season, which starts 4/30 this year but I would not count on the FlyingTurns too much.

  • so what exactly is wrong with it? Why didn't they open it?

  • I hope they finish this sometime. I think it would be fun...

  • that looks scary it looks like it's gonna fly off! isnt that dangerous but........ i really wanna go on!

  • i rode the Bobsled at Coney Island at least 50 times in the late 50's and early 60's until it closed down. This may be the closest recreation of that ride. This is very different from a tracked coaster...and the closest thing to a real bobsled. To all you naysayers who have never rode one of these...just wait!

  • U Mean The Flippin' Turns, What they should do is turn it into a skate park.

  • its open yes! finally!

  • No, It isn't, read the description.

  • I went on this as a kid in St Louis at the Highlands in the late 50s. It was the called the Bobsled there. It's worth every penny of your 3.00. Very different. Yes the ride is short, but well worth it. Hope they get this together. It is different than anything you've been on before...

  • im going in the last week in july i need i coaster to ride since i cant ride the kiddle one i loved that one ;(

  • There must be a lot of radiation there. The Geiger counter keeps going off.

  • Okay, not to sound stupid, but what's the point? I live right outside Elysburg, so I've been hearing all about this ride/seeing it for a long time now. When I saw it last summer, it just looked like a giant donut kinda thing. You just sit in it and it takes you from side to side like ice luge?

  • Okay then let me ask you what the point would be of any roller coaster other then to get the thrill of it. I work at the park and my supervisor rode it before they decided to redo parts of the ride and he said it was a great thrill, and every ride is different depending on the weight in the cars

  • I agree ^^ what would be the point of any coaster. Plus they have a similar ride at kings dominion and it looked lame so i skipped it the first time, but let me be the first to say that when i did decide to ride it, it was very intense, you feel as if you are going to fly off the tracks at any time.

  • They are Re Naming it,,,,The flying Flop

  • Anyone wanting to ride this this summer better be planning a late summer trip, because as of today it does not look good for any time soon

  • omg i cant wait for this ride to open. its gonna be great!!! i really really really wanna ride it this summer when we g for vacation!!

  • Flying Turns - (3/1/09) Ive got a bit of disappointing news to share today about the Flying Turns. While at one point apparently they were fairly confident that the Flying Turns would finally be ready to roll for the ACE Spring Preservation event (May 15-17), it was announced to ACE members that due to drastic construction issues the ride may not be ready after all. Instead a walking Trough Tour of the ride is being planned right now.

  • FlyingTurns Update. I was in the park friday being curious and a good portion of the ride has been taken apart and redesigned hopefully for the better. It does not look good for an early season opening if at all this summer. I will post more as I find out. The park is to open for the season April 25, but it is expected to open WITHOUT the turns. I am a rides employee so i will know early about a possible opening.

  • Looks like it would be a blast! They should rename it "The Spruce Goose" because just like the plane, this baby is having a hard time getting off the ground.

  • when does it open

  • honestly it does not look good for the ride opening this year. the park could prove me wrong, and i really hope that they do, but i was in the park friday being nosey and the last turn out of the brake run has been completely taken apart, and that includes the last lift hill, also the switch to the maintenance run at the top of the first lift hill has also been removed, so my guess is that a good portion of the coaster has been redesigned hopefully for the better.

  • This ride is looking great.

  • i can't wait till this ride opens i love knoebels is the best amusment park ever well i have only been to knoebels and hershey park but still i wish they had the steel rollercoasters that they used to have so sad

  • What the hell is that annoying crackling in the sound???

  • The focusing of the camera.

  • Is that Bob Knoebel?

  • From what i understand the owner of the park is not a big fan of the steel variety. The park had 2 full sized steel coasters at one time, but not both at the same time. Sold one to get the other kinda deal. The lumber yard for Knoebels is on the same property and where "The Flyers" sits there used to be an old lumber mill. Also the original property was a christmas tree farm. So lots of wood in the Knoebels family.

  • How interesting is it that all three major coasters at Kenobel's are of the wooden variety. Not to mention, the Kenobel's own a lumber yard not far from here. Gee, I wonder where all the wood came from for all the coasters, hmm.

  • looks like a death trap, but im still going on!

  • they hoping to open the ride @ the end of this moth but i will be open next year ( but im still not promising)

  • Here is an update for everyone to see. The chances of it opening this year have gone from slim to almost none. We will be lucky if we see it for opening day next year. At that point the ride will cost $3.00. This is the actual POV and it only starts at the top of lift 2 and it ends at the brake run. This is of a test run done last July(July 2007), before the rest of the ride that is there now was completed. This is coming from a ride operator from at Knoebels

  • This ride is going to be awesome! It is a good ride remembering the old Flying Turns like at Euclid Beach

  • tht was liturally the shittist thing ive ever seen.. they need to demolish it

  • do you know wen this will be open?

  • I was there about a week ago they said it might be about two years because some thing went wrong with the cars.

  • I went yesterday and the ride is still not open.

  • maybe it will never open lol

  • I kinda have my doubts that it is the actual coaster at Knoebels... if the lifts were included i'd be able to believe it though.

  • It's the actual coaster - look at the break run...

  • looks kinda boring and short.

    not worth $2.50.

  • I don't think it is the whole POV, look at the end of the brake run.

  • this looks so cool. 3 weeks till arive at knobels grove. i would so love it to be open!

  • nope..aint opening till end of august, if it even opens this yr.

  • for Flying Turns info call

    1-800-487-4386!

    :)

  • im going in a week hope it opens ive been waiting for 2 years

  • Today we saw a new prototype car running on the track for a few test runs, but that does not mean anything at this point. As of now there is still not official opening day, but like i said before i will post that here as soon as I find out for myself.

  • I can imagine working all the kinks out in a system that's been largely untried for the last 80 years or so would take quite some time. In an unpredictable ride like this, there are some things that a computer just can't simulate as well as RL testing.

  • I worked on that. Its a sweet ride.

  • that noise in the background reminds me of the movie, The Grudge

  • It does not look good for a 4th of July opening for the coaster at least this season. At this point I would be amazed to see a Phoenix Phall Phunfest opening. That would be the first saturday in October. But I will update that as I hear, seeing since I work at Knoebels

  • the nois in the back sounds like AVP

  • omg..i wanna ride it! i may be going in 2 weeks!

  • unfourtunately i have been told that it might not be ready now till Memorial Day or maybe not even till the Fourth of July.

  • omg! that sux...wtf? how come they already had it going around sind July '07, and it wont b ready till july? but, when the twister opened in '99, i believe it opened in july also.

  • the state inspectors keep telling them that they don't think the cars are safe enough so they keep haveing to build new ones and that is what is taking so long. the coaster could be ready with in 3 weeks but the cars for the trains are not ready due to inspections

  • omg...jeez. that sux. where do you get all this info? thanks so much though!

  • what the hells that nois in the back round????

  • I am not really sure, i think it is just "noise" but not from the coaster itself. But at the end the clapping is from the group where the video was shown.
