...maybe that's because it took a move to the UK for them to get true momentum. They always had a sound that for me trod a rarely trodden line between a wistful romance between Australian coming of age and the apparent metropolitan sophistication of living and touring in Europe. They had a playfulness and maturity at the same time and the music press and fans over there loved that mix - I think that came mainly from having two excellent singer songwriters bouncing off each other.
You're kidding...the Go Betweens had a sizable loyal following in the UK (and to some lesser extent Europe) among the more indie minded music fans. They were always darlings of the music press over there. I was a big Go Betweens fan before I ever came to Australia (got into them late - Tallulah was already out) - in fact whenever the Australian mainstream press talk about quintessential Australian bands they hardly ever mention the GBs
I was waiting for years to see Bob on "Later". A frustrating wait, but it happened. No doubt virtually unknown by the "metropolitan" London BBC audience.
...RIP Grant - can't drive up into QLD (As we do each year) through border country and fields of sugar cane without hearing that musical backdrop...
This song is beautiful - full of mourning (nice melodic bass playing by Adele here)

Such a special band. Love this song and I miss Grant so much as everyone who loves this band does.

Rachel Worth was a great comeback. Who is that drummer though?
