@lionkinglover2662 Yes, i have recently read the play and it is because he was going to have sex with a girl in the stables, while equus, which sees all things, could see him: alan then realises he had betraied his God (Equus: You will be mine!) and couldn't take the pain, so stabbed their eyes so they couldn't see what he was doing anymore. Of course he then feels remorse about doing such a horrible thing.
